Brilliant family room, clean spacious and the little extras hot chocolates my teens loved all staff from reception, bar and security were brilliant. Breakfast was lovely, outdoor for the upper rooms was great and having fan in the bedroom thank you as building old that no air con in upper rooms the fan is a blessing
Spinach and mushrooms were boiled not pan fried so they just tasted water
For the venue we attended this location was spot on.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
The room Was very light at 0500 hrs some black out blinds or take an eye mask with you.
Excellent location and friendly welcoming staff
The bedroom wash not very clean! The shower was quite dirty and the bed was a very small double bed!
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was large and well appointed. The food was good. Not a huge choice but quite sufficient and varied. Breakfast was good too.
The pub/hotel seemed to have found a way of satisfying everyone’s needs. There was a large outside area with places for kids to play and a large screen for the World Cup matches. The bar also had a television and cheerful decor. There was a separate restaurant and a large, comfortable quiet lounge area which was popular.
There was access to the riverside which was special. Clear water with fish and damselflies and beautiful trees.
Only mild complaint was that there was no door between our sleeping area and the bathroom. It was big enough so it didn’t really matter but it is sometimes nice to have a bit of privacy even after 55 years of marriage!
It was my old home town, used it many years ago. Brought back many memories.
May not be good for my wife if she had been with me. Due to her disability, would not gave managed the late night entry after the bar has closed.
most of it. Breakfast was 4*+
Breakfast was OK but as a diabetic, the choices were limited to one cereal but the cooked items were better with eggs, smoked salmon and avocado which are actually ideal for me.
Dinner choces were good but I found the Super Salad too big unfortunately but otherwise it was good and the Tomato & Basil soup was excellent.
The en suite bathroom had mould on the grout and silicone. A stronger fan for the hot weather would have been better but unfortunately the weather was unusually hot and as there was no Air Con in the room, our nights were uncomfortable to say the least. This wasn't the fault of the hotel The noise from outside was very annoying and on top of the heat made our stay a little disappointing.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were greeted at reception and shown to our room. The member of staff informed us on meals, breakfast times and local information. At breakfast the lady on duty went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we wanted.
There wasn’t anything not to like
If I was to be fussy the only comment would be to say that the grouting in the shower needs updating but it was clean.
The rooms were lovely, clean and really big. The restaurant was very nice.
It was incredibly hot. I appreciate we were having high temperatures but we were on the top floor and there was no way to cool the room down. We got very little sleep.
Excellent location as I was meeting friends who lived in the village
Atmosphere
The food is excellent - breakfast and dinners.
The rooms and beds are very comfortable and the bathroom facilities very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It feels like a home from home. A lovely historic coaching inn and a pleasure to stay in 250 years later!
We've stayed at this hotel many times over the years, and it's really nice to see the investment in the property is showing. It's a real gem, with a bar, restaurant, beer garden and its lively at weekends.
