I stayed on the 5th floor and the 4th floor was a smoking floor. I cab smell the cigarette smoke.
This hotel is excellent and has a strong sense of Kyoto’s traditional culture. The onsen is very relaxing, and they even offer free popsicles and Yakult afterward. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, and the staff are all very kind and attentive. Overall, it’s a great value for the price. The only minor downside is that the tatami mat looked a little bit stained — if the flooring were darker, it might not be noticeable.
Our stay was so peaceful, quiet and relaxing! The onsen was incredible, we loved the little treats provided and had an easy time getting around the city. We would definitely stay here again!
Excellent
I'll start by saying that the hotel staff are VERY nice and willing to help however they can, 10/10. They received our luggage, stored our luggage, transported out luggage, communicated with our next hotel, helped with logistics, etc. Superb service!.
The hotel is beautiful when you first come in. But then you realize that the hotel is booked to capacity every day and the lobby/common areas are completely filled to the brim with tourists (me and my partner included) and their suitcases. So the vibe of the hotel feels like a sardine can.
The laundry situation I believe to be the most stressful parts of the stay. EVERYONE wants to do laundry after a long day and there are only a total of 7 washer/dryers to accommodate a hotel of hundreds of guests. It is a cut throat environment that requires you to asset yourself to wash your clothes. Keys are available at the front desk to lock the machines so that no one messes with your laundry. The laundry machine status is available on your TV though it's not always accurate.
Our room specifically always had a wet smell to it.... we aired out the apartment, left the blinds open to let the sun sanitize the apartment, etc but nothing seemed to get rid of the smell. The hotel provides a dehumidier/air purifier to address this but that doesn't FIX the problem, just addresses the symptoms. And the shower had some black gunk in the corners.... so overall the room did not make us feel too at home. There is space for suitcases though!
Clean, free matcha tea daily, onsen was amazing
Loved this Japanese style hotel. The hot spring bath was excellent as was the breakfast. Little perks like free ice cream and drinks throughout the day made it so enjoyable. I would have rated this as an excellent hotel if there was no issue with their wifi which is non existent no matter what time of day. Forced us to use up our data plan very quickly.
The hotel is fabulous and the interior details are aesthetically beautiful.
Amazing breakfast and a very peaceful environment
Loved it, want to go back
Very nice and relaxing stay thanks so much
Hotel is okay! It is very busy and employees seemed extremely overwhelmed upon checking in guests. In the evening, we went to get free ice cream bars and it was crammed in their lounge area and small kids were running down the hall often.
If you like large crowds and chaos, this is a good option. It was a little too crowded and chaotic for my husband and me. We prefer more tranquil hotels and areas to sit and drink coffee in quiet. That said, there is a coffee/matcha machine and free water. That we really liked. The room was nice and spacious.
Nice and quiet interesting hotel - small rooms very small rooms
No words to describe! Magical. I cannot wait to stay there again!
Hotel was amazing and more on the traditional side. The breakfast buffet was great, as were the hot springs with five large baths! Hotel also gave free ice cream and ramen in the evenings. I would definitely recommend!
Great location, clean, wonderful onsite public bath.
It was located next to the stations and was clean had great staff
Very clean and beautiful amenities.
The best stay of our whole trip in Japan by far! Great amenities especially after a long day of walking and exploring
