FORMAL COMPLAINT – HOTEL MARKTSTAD x SLOT HOTEL SCHAGEN
This is an official complaint regarding my reservation made through Booking.com and my stay at Hotel Marktstad x Slot Hotel Schagen.
First of all, despite the fact that the room was fully paid in advance through Booking.com (EUR 117.50), the hotel charged my card again at the reception desk. I was double-charged for the exact same booking. This issue has still not been properly investigated or resolved, and no refund has been processed. This level of financial handling is unacceptable and highly unprofessional.
In addition to the payment problem, the room conditions were far below basic hotel standards:
• The bed had no proper blanket. There was only a thin sheet instead of a real duvet or long blanket. Considering that I am nearly two meters tall, the bedding was completely inadequate.
• The bathroom did not even provide basic disposable slippers. The floor felt dirty and poorly prepared for guests.
• The minibar/refrigerator was completely empty. Not even a single bottle of water was provided. There was no drinking water available in the room, which is unacceptable for a hotel stay.
• The electricity setup in the room was poorly designed. It was impossible to switch the main lights on or off from the bedside. I had to walk to the entrance every time. A bedside lamp was installed in a position where the light shined directly into my eyes and could not be adjusted.
• The heating system functioned very poorly and did not provide a comfortable temperature.
Overall, this experience reflects extremely poor service quality, lack of professionalism, and unacceptable guest standards. Being double-charged and staying in a room lacking basic necessities is not reasonable under any circumstances.
For these reasons, I am submitting this complaint publicly through Booking.com and I will be giving the lowest possible rating to this property.

Ruime en schone kamer. Wel wat ' rare' plaatsing van bad in de kamer naast het bed.
Defecte doucheslang waardoor handdouche alle kanten in spuit (we hebben gerapporteerd; raar dat dat bij schoonmaken niet was opgemerkt) slechte en onlogische verlichting, Diner: niet te volgen menu voor bezoekers die niet heel handig zijn met QR, slechte uitleg, matige kwaliteit hoofdgerecht: vlees ongevraagd zeer ' seignant' opgediend, garnituur niet gaar + koud. Fabriekshal achtige setting ( geen free seating) Restaurant niet voor herhaling vatbaar

- 3 slappe slechte kussens
onze ideale uitvalsbasis voor een nachtje weg lekker dichtbij, komen hier meerdere keren per jaar en is altijd zeer goed. Zeer vriendelijk personeel,toplocatie, gratis parkeren en ideaal dat je zelf je ontbijtje kan fabriceren als je zoals ik geen ontbijter bent en dus geen 20 euro voor een bak koffie en een gekookt ei wil betalen. Dit keer niet in restaurant gegeten maar is altijd prima . Ook is er gelegenheid om eerder in te checken.
Mooi modern hotel, eenvoudige check-in, erg stille hotelkamers, fijne douche, koffiemachine op de kamer, uitgebreid ontbijtbuffet met divers vers fruit, verschillende soorten brood en grote belegkeuze.
Geen beschikbare parkeergelegenheid dicht bij het hotel.
Hoewel het vriendelijke personeel in het restaurant ons in de avond (om 21:00) nog diverse opties voor eten/snacks aanbood, bleek dit vervolgens vanuit de keuken niet altijd (meer) mogelijk.

Free parking nearby. Decent fitness room. Overall good value for money.
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful.
The heating was set to 18 degrees and couldn't be changed. Eventually I went to reception and they unlocked the temperature controls, but I think it's weird that the controls are locked to begin with.
The daily room cleaning was pretty limited. The bed was made, but used coffee cups and towels were left out, which makes me wonder how much time they spend on cleaning.
Overall, not a big deal, but some things could be better...

Kitchen staff at breakfast unwilling to provide additional services like issue an omelet is to much, and the breakfast daily cost = 19 euro per head
Mooi hotel op een centrale locatie
Het restaurant. €22,50 voor een mini schnitzel met een halve wortel waarbij je de frites nog los moest bijbestellen a € 4,50 is redelijk schandalig.
Snelle incheck, super ligging in het centrum. Leuk restaurant, aardige mensen.

propreté dans la chambre peut être améliorée (WC sale à l'arrivée), petit déjeuner de qualité très moyenne avec peu de choix, restauration assez cher pour une qualité très moyenne. Bonne literie.
