A fantastic, reasonably priced hotel within minutes walking distance of the Hydro
Pros:

The room was very nice an spacious. Also my view of the arena across the road was excellent.
One thing i loved was the early check in. My flight arrived early and i was allowed to check in at midday. The breakfast was fantastic!

Cons:

The shower was pretty disgusting... loads of black mold around the sides. While i can appreciate that you can miss some small bits of it when cleaning, there was quite a large amount of it, I wouldn't expect that from a hotel of this quality.

Good stay
Pros:

It was very close to the hydro, it had a snack area where you could buy sandwiches etc was a wee bit pricey but handy to have. Lots of communal areas to relax. The wee fridge wasn't working within 15mins of telling them we had a new fridge installed.

Cons:

The stains in the rooms especially the carpets and the chairs it made it look unclean although it was clean. The shower flooded the bathroom floor did mention it but not something they can fix as structural but gave us more towels which helped.

Unsatisfactory and poor customer service and comfort due to loud ac unit
Pros:

Room was simple but comfortable. Check in was very fast and simple. The hotel was accommodating with letting us leave bags with them after check out.

Cons:

The location is pretty far from the main city which was fine, but the cost did not reflect that. The room had not been tidied or cleaned throughly as there were some objects under the bed like an empty bottle and food wrappers, and the bathroom was a bit grubby. The worst thing was the AC unit which was extremely loud. Even when turned off, the unit would intermittently whine loudly which woke us up multiple times throughout the night. The bathroom fan also remained on with no way of turning it off. The morning after night 1 we raised the issue with reception who reassured us the problem would be sorted by engineers that day. We returned late due to a concert in Edinburgh, and asked the night receptionist if the issue had been addressed - they responded rudely and abruptly that there was no record of this. They did say to ring them if the issue persisted, but it was around 130am and we did not want to move rooms that late if it was still noisy. Lo and behold, the issue persisted throughout the night and had not been addressed at all. When we informed the receptionist the next morning, they were fairly dismissive and only cursorily apologetic, telling us that all the units on each floor were connected so they couldn’t do anything?

Two nights of ruined sleep for an extortionate price. Do not stay here unless you can sleep through heavy noise.

Very disappointing experience – especially for a family with a child This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have
Pros:

Location is good

Cons:

Very disappointing experience – especially for a family with a child

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had in many years.

We chose Courtyard by Marriott Glasgow and paid a relatively high rate because we expected a certain level of service from a Marriott property. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.

We were travelling with a young child and had requested an extra bed. When we were getting ready for bed, we discovered that the extra bed had no duvet.

It was already after 9pm and our child needed to sleep, so we contacted Reception and simply asked for a duvet. Instead of simply bringing one to the room, we were told that a staff member had to enter our room first to check and confirm that there was actually no duvet.

We explained that it was late, that our child was ready for bed, and that we were uncomfortable with someone entering our room. However, the staff member insisted that they needed to come inside before providing the duvet.

We eventually had no choice but to allow them in. The staff member then said that they would definitely find another duvet, but they couldn't find one. They simply said that the situation was "very unusual" and left.

I found this way of handling the situation extremely unprofessional. We had absolutely no reason to lie about something as simple as a missing duvet. If the hotel needed to investigate why the duvet was missing, this could have been dealt with internally later. Guests should not have to prove that they are telling the truth by allowing staff into their room, especially late at night when travelling with a child.

In the end, I had to wait in the corridor for quite some time so that our child could rest without being disturbed, before we eventually received a duvet.

The issue was not really about the duvet itself. It was about the lack of trust, respect and common sense in dealing with a very simple request.
