Premium stay
Pros:

The hotel was great. It felt very premium with high quality materials and good design. It’s located close to the pier where you can bath in the lagoon for only 20 pesos, the nicest one in my opinion. There is free parking in front of the hotel.

Cons:

It’s a 10 min walk to the main square if you want to go out, not too bad but it depends what you are looking for. There were many mosquitoes, especially at the reception desk.

Sehr schönes DESIGN

Cons:

Einige Bretter vom Hauptweg sind halb morsch, bzw. haben große Löcher, diese sollten ausgetauscht werden.
Es gibt 2 Stufen in Laufweg, aber keine Beleuchtung am Abend und sehr dunkel und gefährlich. Ich hatte eine Leihfahrrad, die Vorderbremse funktionierte zu maximal 20 Prozent und die Hinterbremse zu 0 Prozent. Die 7 Gangschaltung war auch defekt, also ging nur 1 Gang.
Das alles ist sehr schade und passt absolut nicht zu der schönen Architektur und Gestaltung.

La chambre est spacieuse et il y a une belle décoration.

Cons:

Le prix est très élevé pour ce que c’est. Le petit déjeuner n’est pas compris dans le prix, que je trouve déjà bien assez cher. Il y a beaucoup de moustiques à l’accueil. De plus, la piscine n’est pas entretenue : il y a beaucoup de feuilles et on ne peut pas s’y baigner.

Great place to relax and the lagoon is easy to reach.
Pros:

The room was great, fresh and clean. The AC was very silent and comfortable. The whole hotel is very nice, the structure is interesting and the atmosphere relaxing.

Cons:

The breakfast was ok, the pancakes were good but the salty options a little limited (and not as good as expected).

HORRIBLE
Pros:

We had a terrible experience at Casa Hormiga and would strongly advise people not to stay here.
When we arrived in our room, there were small insects crawling all over the bed. There were many of them moving around in the sheets. We immediately called reception and, to be fair, a friendly lady came quickly to change the bed sheets. However, before she even left the room, we already noticed new insects appearing again. It was very clear they were coming from the roof ceiling above the bed.
The hotel had no other room available for us, so we were expected to sleep there anyway. Of course, we did not sleep at all that night. They told us we could look for another hotel, but at 10:30 PM, after a long journey and suffering from major jet lag, that was simply not realistic.
The problem clearly came from the roof structure, and all the other rooms had the same type of roof. There was apparently a cheaper room without this issue, but they did not want to refund the difference in price if we moved there. Completely unacceptable.
We also never used the swimming pool because it was extremely dirty. The chairs around the pool were filthy, and there were no proper, clean places to relax at all. Everything looked poorly maintained. We even read afterwards that many other guests mentioned the same issues about the dirty pool and the general condition of the hotel. It is really a shame we did not read these reviews earlier, because we would never have booked this hotel.

If we had known about these conditions beforehand — even aside from the insects in the bed — we would never have booked this hotel. The next day, the receptionist was also not friendly or helpful at all.

Horrible experience. Please do not come here.

Pros:

Un bel hôtel avec de très bonnes prestations, malgré quelques points à améliorer.
Pros:

Les points positifs sont nombreux : la décoration est particulièrement soignée dans tout l’établissement, avec une vraie attention aux détails. Les produits de toilette sont de qualité, ce qui est appréciable. La literie est très confortable et la climatisation fonctionne parfaitement, garantissant de bonnes nuits de sommeil. Le cours de yoga proposé a été testé et pleinement approuvé : une excellente expérience. Le partenariat avec accès gratuit au lagon ainsi que le prêt de vélos sont également de vrais plus.

Cons:

La piscine a été nettoyée le jour de notre départ, ce qui limite son utilisation. Par ailleurs, lors du petit-déjeuner inclus, j’ai demandé simplement une tranche de bacon sans prendre l’assiette complète (œufs + pommes de terre), mais celle-ci m’a été facturée 4 $US en supplément, le bacon étant considéré comme un extra. Enfin, un spray anti-moustique est bien disponible à la réception, mais trop tardivement utile étant donné la présence d’un petit miroir d’eau devant l’entrée, où les moustiques sont nombreux dès l’arrivée.

A hidden secret in Bacalar!
Pros:

The yoga in the morning that is included in your stay if you’re interested and even if you’re not interested check it out to stretch. The instructor is great! Rent bikes- they have plenty. A restaurant/coffee/bar/spa spot which I didn’t try but liked knowing the convenience of it being available on site if I needed. The reception team provided suggestions for food, activities and etc at your request or inquiry. The room and aesthetic of Casa Hormiga has me wanting to come back and stay there again and again.

Cons:

The bikes- just needing to figure out which of the few were not functional. The seats not dropping even after I tightened it. If you search you’ll find one that works

Stunning and so calm
Pros:

The property is stunning and super quiet, with all the vegetation it feels like a little oasis. There's restaurant is excellent and serves food virtually at all times. The staff is mostly super nice and the room was both beautiful and comfortable, there's excellent bathroom products. The spa offers massages and rituals which are a bit expensive but very professional in a human way. The hotel is a short walk from the lagoon and anything in Bacalar and they offer complimentary bikes if you want + access to a beach club.

Cons:

Honestly we loved our stay.

Bon séjour et très belle accueil mais la piscine inutilisable est un gros point négatif
Pros:

Nous avons beaucoup aimé le côté atypique de cet hôtel, les chambres sont confortables et propres.
Le personnel est adorable, Jeanne de la réception parle en français un gros plus en plus d’être très gentille. Le restaurant est vraiment très bon et sophistiqué.

Cons:

La piscine est inutilisable malgré quelques nettoyage, les feuilles envahissent la piscine et les espaces commun. Hôtel et chambre très sombre à cause de tout les arbres pas très entretenus, pas de transat.
Moisissure un peu dans la salle de bain.
Manque d’isolation des chambres
