TRhe location is very good if you like Mid-town. The rooms are small, which I knew. While the staff was nice everything else is poor.
We had a very nice stay at the Draper for a family trip. The location is great, with easy access to the subway and close to restaurants and attractions that were walkable. The Empire State Building and Grand Central Terminal were close by and just a short walk to Macy’s and Penn Station / MCG. The rooms are fairly small and not much room to unpack, so as long as you are prepared for that, you will have a nice stay. The bar was very nice for a late night drink and the coffee and light breakfast items in the lobby were convenient. There is also a Starbucks 2-3 blocks away.
The room was comfortable and clean.
The sink area was quite small so hard to use my toiletries, there was no closet to hang my clothes, though there were hooks and there was no iron in the room.
This is our third time staying here. Very consistent with cleanliness and customer care. Convenient location. The bed and pillows are phenomenal making for a great night’s sleep! Highly recommend!
We recently returned from our second stay at the Draper. The bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet, and the view of the Empire State Building can't be beat. The location is great -- a short walk to Broadway theaters, without the craziness of Times Square. The front desk staff are all excellent, and Sri worked very hard to fix our TV so that we could watch CBS (yes, I know, the purpose of vacation is not to watch TV, but we really wanted to watch the Tony Awards, having just seen a nominated show that afternoon!). Our only issue, other than the TV problem, was some inconsistency with the supplies in our room: when we arrived, there was no remote control for the TV; one day, there was no soap in our room; and another day, we had 5 pouches of Decaf coffee but no regular coffee. But these are minor issues that can easily be fixed. Also, on a funny note: as we were checking out, we told Sri how much we hated to leave, and he told us that he had one room available for that evening in case we wanted to stay. We should have listened to him, because we received a notification on our drive to the airport that our flight had been cancelled! (Next time, Sri, we'll be sure to listen to you!)

Recently stayed at the Draper on a solo trip to NYC and loved it! The rooms are small, but very nice. The hotel staff was lovely and the location was very convenient to all things Manhattan and to the subway. The location felt very safe to me. I look forward to returning!
Our family needed a hotel for just the night since we were headed to a Met game and then a nice dinner for our anniversary. I was looking for something walkable to Penn Station and more on the affordable side, and found The Draper. We stopped at the hotel before the game around 11:30 to drop off our luggage, and to our surprise, they allowed us to check in early! We got 2 doubles in a corner room on the 10th floor. The rooms and bathroom are small, typical for most places we have stayed in the city. A little tight with 2 big teen boys, but perfectly manageable. The beds were comfortable, nice down comforters, and the shower was nice with great water pressure. The room was super quiet, we didn't even hear any traffic noise outside all night. There was a little coffee shop right in the lobby with other snacks as well. We had to call in the morning for a couple fresh towels, and they brought them up within 10 minutes. Super friendly staff, we will definitely stay here again.
It was a nice bar with a happy hour.
The refrigerator didn’t get cold, housekeeping came late in the day, no balcony, and for the size of the room it was overpriced.
Great location. Clean rooms. Staff was amazing!
I stayed here for 3 nights last month on their top floor. When I checked in, the front desk offered me points or $18 per guest per day at their cafe/restaurant as I am a Hilton Gold member. When I checked out, they charged me for the money spent at the cafe and the front desk promised to speak with their manager. They explained that I did not get the promo because I booked through a third party but I pointed out that they had more info than me on my eligibility and they should not have offered this promo if it did not apply to me. Also, no reasonable person in NYC near Bryant Park would spend this amount of money at their overpriced cafe in the morning when they could just go to Le Pain or Paris Baguette on the corner or Blue Bottle or Pret next to Bryant Park. The charge was still there a week later so I called back and they promised to discuss with a manager (still waiting for that call) but they also tried to figure out who to blame at their front desk for misinforming me. There are plenty of hotels in NYC where the staff will not try to blame you or their co-workers and ignore / refuse to refund you for a simple misunderstanding. I probably would have given it a 3.5 for location and could have returned on a future visit but it seems like this hotel would rather lose a customer over less than $100. Btw, my stay there was $1280 so I hope they feel good about their decision. FYI, there's an Embassy Suites on the same street just a few buildings down and a Marriott across the street but in any event, plenty of different hotels to pick that may treat you like an actual customer.
From checking in until checking out the stay was excellent.
Both our rooms were very clean and in good order with fantastic views of the Empire State Building just 2 streets south.
Every interaction with the hotel staff was fantastic - reception, bar, breakfast bar and the unsung heroes.... housekeeping.
The location was great. What ever you want is close by or a uber / subway ride away.
A special thank you to all the reception staff who always greeted us and asked how we were, what were our plans and what we had done when we arrived back.Thank you and hopefully see you all again
