Beautiful property. Great service. Lots of fun things to do. We were there for three nights. We rented a pontoon boat but the best place to go by boat on the lake is the Lake House …and we were already there!
This stay was so very wonderful! We felt very welcomed when we first arrived and felt very valued throughout the whole trip! When we first arrived we had our room ready and once we arrived it was so nice and tidy! We spent a ton of time at the pool and we want to give the pool girls/boys a very special shout out; they were wonderful! We got our s’mores kit and enjoyed some family time around the fire pits! We got a wonderful night sleep and then left in the morning! We went to check out and of course had to get something from the gift shop! The quality of everything in the gift shop was amazing! Thank you to all of the staff who helped us have a wonderful, relaxing, very well needed, stay!
This was our second stay at The Lake House in less than a year. My husband and I first visited for our anniversary, and we enjoyed it enough to return with my parents and my sister and brother-in-law to celebrate both America's 250th and my 50th birthdays. Overall, we had another wonderful visit, but there were a few areas where the experience didn't quite match the premium price point.
My husband had arranged for beautiful flowers to be waiting in our room. There were also charcuterie boards, a chocolate cake, and two bottles of sparkling wine that had been sent by friends to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately, the accompanying card was addressed only to my husband and simply signed "The Lake House," so we had no idea the gifts were from our friends until they later wondered why we hadn't thanked them. It was a small but disappointing service oversight that could have been easily avoided by including the gift-givers' names.
One amenity we'd love to see is complimentary coffee in the lobby each morning. At a resort in this price range, having to make coffee in the room or purchase it at the Library Bar feels like a missed opportunity to enhance the guest experience.
Dining was mixed. Breakfast was outstanding—the Eggs Benedict were among the best I've ever had. The Pool Bar food was very good, although some menu descriptions were a bit misleading. At the Sand Bar, the oysters weren't properly shucked, and while the nachos were every bit as delicious as we remembered, the chips were mostly broken shards from the bottom of the bag. Dinner at Rose Tavern was inconsistent as well: my mom's lobster risotto was surprisingly small for the price, and my husband's ribeye contained a significant amount of unrendered fat. At these prices, we expected a more polished culinary experience.
The highlight of the trip was our pontoon excursion with Molly. She was fantastic, and we highly recommend booking a cruise if you're staying at the resort. We also ordered pizza from Fire on the Water after a miscommunication with the concierge about arranging a catered dinner, and it was excellent.
If you're visiting over the Fourth of July, don't let the lack of official fireworks deter you. The private displays around the lake are spectacular and create an unforgettable holiday atmosphere.
We wouldn't have returned so quickly if we didn't genuinely enjoy it. Our hope is that the service, amenities, and dining continue to evolve.
Upon arrival for a girls weekend, we found a used washcloth in the shower, a dirty slipper under the bed and the pool had an oily film. Also, the "lobster roll on a brioche bun" was actually a few teaspoons of lobster on a hotdog bun for a whopping $32! The only positive was the beautiful view. But I could get that standing in any parking lot and save $1000 per night.
My wife and I stopped for a Babymoon trip at the lake house. Overall our stay could not have been better. The staff on location were great, restaurants/bars were amazing, and the water activities were a great time as well.
Mikey P made an unbelievable espresso martini and gave us great service. Will be back
Mikey P might as well have invented the expresso martini. Delicious.
Great service from Jade and the best oysters I’ve ever had!
Great atmosphere and service.
The hospitality was delightful and a special thanks to David for his care for our table.
Our stay at The Lake House on Canandaigua was absolutely incredible from start to finish. We were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a beautiful corner suite overlooking the lake, and waking up to those views each morning was unforgettable. Having outdoor seating right outside our room made it the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee or unwind in the evening while taking in the peaceful waterfront.
The entire property is stunning—thoughtfully designed, welcoming, and full of beautiful details that create a luxurious yet relaxed atmosphere.
We also dined at Rose Tavern, and it exceeded every expectation. The food was outstanding, the cocktails were exceptional, and the service was warm, attentive, and genuine. The atmosphere and décor are absolutely beautiful, making it a place you want to linger long after your meal is finished.
Every member of the staff made us feel genuinely welcome, and it’s clear they take great pride in creating an exceptional guest experience. We can’t wait to return and would highly recommend The Lake House to anyone looking for a memorable getaway in the Finger Lakes.
Came back for second time in a month, choosing to spend money versus staying at family in town. Service was horrible at check in. No one goes out of their way to help. Barista at coffee bar was wildly rude. Pillows are low quality. Took sheets for day bed (in suite) after first night and nothing second night. Restaurant turned group away for breakfast because they were too busy (plenty of tables open). Overall, taking advantage of scenery and location. Seems to lack overall leadership and present GM.
Highly recommend. The resort was beautiful. The staff was kind and professional. The restaurants on site are excellent! Loved the convenience of on-site boat rentals. Live music in the evening at the Sand Bar was fantastic. We also participated in an activity that offered called “wood burning and whiskey”. We had an instructor who taught us the craft of wood burning while sipping/tasting 3 different whiskeys. Unique and memorable. Our instructor Susanne was knowledgeable, creative and fun! The Lake House is an exceptional experience.
My wife and I returned to The Lake House on Canandaigua again, and our stay is unbelievable. We’re rode on a private sunset cruise. Took the garden tour. And the staff has been incredible. Mikey P even helped us find great fishing spots.
Location and property were perfect for a mini getaway for a concert. The property was stunning, and with so many amenities, we truly enjoyed our weekend, and look forward to visiting again.
David was an amazing waiter and made our experience the best. We enjoyed our table outside with a great view of the lake.
Lex was the best supervisor, was so accommodating - made our trip! She’s an all star!
Mikey P at the Library Bar went above and beyond to make our experience special!
Jade was an amazing waitress!! We couldn’t be happier with our experience and will definitely be back.
The Lake House was beautiful for our family dinner and Anders was a fantastic server!
