Me encantó la vista
Breakfast was fine. Nothing extraordinary. Nothing lacking.
The room was spacious.
It was nice having a golf cart that could take us down the hill. It would be nice to text for this rather than call.
The windows in our room were inoperable. It would have been nice to have access to the fresh air.
I didn’t realize it was up on a hill.
Housekeeping service was okay.
Front desk staff were not very friendly.
Hot breakfast was available every morning. On the weekend, they had the chef available for cooking fresh eggs or other items if requested.
The pool had a light floating in it and the room ac kept clicking all night. No elevators to higher floors. View was nice but save your money and stay in town. This place is a dump.
View of Avalon Is spectacular.
Staff was great, the room view is the best on the island. Wildlife comes up to the front door if you’re into that thing as well. The 5th floor pool was also a nice touch along with the lounge area. Your stay also includes breakfast. Two things you don’t get at the hotel though… a hot shower ( water is cold to lukewarm most of the time ) and a thorough cleaning with housekeeping. Not a huge deal but if you’re a clean freak, some of the minor details are missing. Overall, good stay and I would consider staying here again.
Staff were very pleasant. Views were amazing from multiple levels. Transportation in a golf cart to town was provided for free. Driver tips are appreciated.
Multiple breakfast items were provided and the omelette bar was delicious.
The hotel was very accommodating and
I would never recommend the Zane Grey Hotel. On the first day, the door lock and key didn’t work. After hours of waiting, we were told it couldn’t be fixed. No upgrades were available, and they told us to find another hotel—unrealistic since our entire trip with friends and family was planned around staying here. We ended up in an unsafe room without a lock.
The issues didn’t stop there. The toilets weren’t flushing, the AC barely worked, and overall the room was in terrible condition. Their “solution” was to promise 50% off our stay, but when we checked out, they only gave 25%. I was told the owner would approve the balance, but that credit never came.
Instead of paying for a relaxing, high-quality stay, we were forced to pay their very expensive rates for a broken, unsafe, and poorly managed hotel. Save yourself the frustration—do not stay here.
I loved everything. I was drawn to the Zane Grey Pueblo Hotel from reading about Catalina Island, where it is often mentioned. The location and architecture are stunning -- adding to the original home of the writer of Westerns, Zane Grey, the rooms had balconies with vistas looking out over Avalon Harbor and the interior of the Island. The rooms were well-appointed and decorated, combining clean California style with a Western flair in homage to Mr. Grey. There were also open-air places to sit, lounge, and relax throughout, as well as a spectacular pool. Breakfast (also in a room with a great view) and transportation to and from Avalon Harbor via golf cart were included. The staff was invaluable and responsive -- I had left my cell phone in a taxi, and the staff immediately jumped into action to help me locate it, including calling a relative at the taxi service and offering to take me to the Sheriff's station for their lost and found. Fortunately, the taxi driver found my phone and brought it back to the hotel. In my opinion, this was one of the best places I have stayed, and I can't imagine staying anywhere else on Catalina Island.
Nothing could have been better. It was perfect.
Perfect four our couples getaway. Shuttle into town was a big plus,. Luggage service is very convenient. All around awesome
Views and location are the best
Beautiful view l, the staff was very kind and the drivers of the carts were wonderful!!
The staff was wonderful and friendly! The upper level managers and operators should be ashamed. The website shows clean common areas and states that you have a heated pool. Every chair at the pool had holes in them. The pool was freezing and needs a new filtration system. I stayed in the queen ocean view rooms and I have never seen a dirtier balcony cobwebs and disgusting cushions. Also the shower does not get even remotely hot and the bed was so uncomfortable it had lumps and dips. We had to change our own sheets since you do not have adequate amounts of staff and we seen the most disgusting stain covered mattress protector underneath. I think the the fact that they have a lovely view the establishment rests on its laurels but this is one of the dirtiest hotels I have ever stayed in
Ocean view.
