The whole hotel experience was fantastic. Reception was quick and helpful. Our room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. It was dark and quiet during the night. Air con worked (which is unusual in hotels to be honest). The bar and late night food were great and breakfast was fabulous.
Excellent stay. No issues
Top class hotel in the centre of Birmingham, easy reach of many restaurants and shopping areas.
Breakfast not so good, seemed cooked and stored/reheated.
Room lovely very clean,a few scuff marks on walls
Restaurant not open- inconvenient I travelled from Cornwall
Overall good
Stunning hotel, the bathroom especially and the Penhaligons toiletries felt so special!
Lovely hotel and close to all amenities.
Loved Madeline Bar and Isaacs.
Fantastic
I checked in and realised i was given a uncleaned room. The name on the welcome screen wasnt mine, a half eat cake, a half done bed and dirty towells on the floor. Tried calling reception and no one picked up. This was after i unpacked and noticed. Had to repack and go back ti reception to get another room. A quick shrug by receptionist was the only acknowledgement. Not good!
Underwhelmed with the size and layout of the room with a picturesque vie of a brick wall
Pillows uncomfortable and bar prices sky high
The room was clean with new fittings and fixtures
.
Thoroughly delighted with our stay, would definitely return
Overall stay was good and the Grand suite itself was amazing.
However, breakfast was quite disappointing to say the least. If you book a grand suite it would be customary to provide a decent table big enough to hold breakfast items for two. To then proceed with forgetting the breakfast order and having to be reminded after nearly half an hour is disgraceful. And when the breakfast actually arrived it was in a horrid state. Black pudding was overcooked and not edible. The sole of my shoe would have been more tender than the bacon provided which was a shame as the flavour hinted to a nice bacon. The poached egg felt as if it had been precooked and left lying around.(?) The circular thing which presumably was a mushroom could have been left out as it was disgusting. The staff did not give the impression of serving a five star hotel breakfast experience either. Overall extremely disappointing as it was in line with motorway hotels.. (As it was getting late we could not stay longer for a second attempt. Don’t think it would have improved anything either)
I would suggest getting a breakfast takeaway and eat in your room.
Beautifully renovated to a very high standard
We stayed for a night after moving our daughter into Uni. The hotel was lovely. The staff were very helpful, friendly & professional. It was a great location too. We will definitely rebook.
10\10 great room, very clean. Highly recommended
Fabulous hotel in great location next to the cathedral
The bar area is amazing
Had a really quiet room best nights sleeping in a hotel for ages !
Staff all excellent and helpful
Highly recommend
Lovely hotel very convenient and easy to get to
From the moment we stepped in to the gorgeous hotel building, we were greeted by incredibly warm and friendly staff.
The hotel lobby is beautiful, and perfectly suits the "Grand" part to their name, and when we saw our room, it was spacious, clean, really love and comfortable, and the bed was so soft and it was incredibly easy to just drop off on both nights of our stay.
The Madeleine bar was exquisite and classy, but we couldn't help but be blown away by the classic style to Isaac's. Staff once again were amazing in both of these, and the cocktails/mocktails were fantastic too. The fact that Isaac's has a jazz bar vibe on some nights is such a great touch too, and their breakfasts are brilliant.
My only issue was that this is on the pricier side, however for what we paid, we most certainly got everything we had hoped for, and then some.
It'll be impossible to stay anywhere else next time we are in Birmingham, that's for sure!
Absolutely loved it here!
Gorgeous, cosy hotel in a great location.
