Great location, only 20 minutes from Cass Railroad and Greenbrier train trip . Rooms were large and clean and had everything you needed.
Very nice
Suite was beautiful almost didn’t want to leave and housekeeping even helped me in the morning with my endless questions about my morning activity
A very pleasant night.
The front desk staff was helpful and thoughtful bringing a blow dryer up to my room. Housekeeping was also excellent! The room was so spotless! Everything was perfect. The GM was friendly and took our picture while having breakfast. All positives and reasons to go back.
Having said that, here are some things that were misses and room for improvement. There were 2 wall lamps by the bedside and only one worked because there was no outlet to plug the other one into. An extension cord or a longer plug would have been a better idea then to leave one side of the bed dark. Also, the bedroom tv was really small and outdated. It didn't get any real channels except for the LG channels. I couldn't even log into my Netflix or Prime to watch anything on it. Newer TVs all have that capability. Newer, bigger tvs are all under $600. Since this was a premium upscale hotel, I would have expected better. The worst part of the stay was the restaurant experience. I reserved our table weeks in advance expecting a nice romantic Anniversary dinner with my husband. The chef sounded amazing well worth the cost. The views were to die for! We arrived a few minutes early and we were not greeted at the hostess stand. We waited about 15 minutes and wait staff approached us and said she would come right back to seat us. Finally, after taking orders and someone from upstairs rushing by to deliver drinks, she sat us and said she was the only one waiting on all the tables. This occurred on a Saturday night! No hostess, no other wait staff, no one to clean off tables. She was doing the best she could under the circumstances. We waited 30 more minutes to place our order. The soup starters took another 30 minutes or more to come out. They were room temperature at best. She said the back of the house had turned off the cauldrons. Mistake? Maybe. It was only 7:30 not the end of the night. When she came by the next time, we let here know and she took them back to reheat. The soups were good, but my husband was really upset. When they were returned, the dinner entrees came out with them. It looked like they had been sitting around a while. They did not look appetizing. My husband had enough and said he didn't want them reheated. Who reheats filets and pork tenderloin? After all the stumble and fumbles from the kitchen, we were done. We expected a kitchen run by a top notch chef to do better than that, serve better well timed meals, than that. The waitress informed us that the chef was not there that night. He was cooking for the wedding upstairs. I assume that the rest of the waitstaff was also with him. This poor lady was running around apologizing to EVERY table. Not one table didn't have something wrong with their meals. A group of women got up and had to search for help after waiting so long for their meals. They came out in dribs and drabs not altogether. Some patrons had to wait at the hostess table to get a check. All had to wait a really long time to get their food and check out. It wasn't the waitresses fault. IT would have been difficult for anyone to have to be the hostess, busser, run food, prep meals and wait on their customers. It was unfair to put her in that position. She was having to comp multiple orders and throw in extras to keep people from leaving. The customers were really upset. They may not have said anything to management or the waitress, however, once she left they talked amongst themselves and other patrons could hear all the issues and realize this was a disastrous night for everyone. She did let us know that management/chef had considered closing for the night. Had I known, I would have made other arrangements or booked our stay on another night. I hope this becomes a lesson to those in charge. I hate to think how much food was lost and how much money was spent. The person cooking was not ready for that responsibility. There was no thought concerning the patrons experience. It was more than disappointing because of the lack of good judgement shown. It was a disappointing for us and a definite negative instead of being a wonderful celebration on a special night. On a side note, we went over to the pizza place, pizza was good, service was polite and quick. While waiting for the pizza, you could clearly see into the shared kitchen. It was a disaster. Dirty and it really gave me pause as to whether or not I wanted to risk eating there again.
They had a nice restaurant within walking distance.
Minimal eating facilities during off season
The room was clean, although showed some signs of wear & tear.
We were in awe upon arrival and even more when we walked into our room! Beautiful place, very clean
A beautiful room in a beautiful place very spacious suite with all the amenities. Comfy bed amazing bathroom. Helpful efficient staff a great restaurant in site
The room was exceptionally comfortable and well arranged/decor. The little touches like espresso kurig nice. The bathroom/shower excellent and roomy. There were a few noisy moments from other travelers above us (we were on first floor) but not at critical times and the building we were in is the older lodge next to restaurant so expect it to be a little less sound proof. Thankfully, it did not become problematic, just be aware that "heavy footers" might make some noise as they settle in. Overall though, we were completely pleased with out experience here. Also, short paved walk to the village - sweet! And if biking/skiiing right across from a lift.
Was not told ahead of time only 1 place open to eat! Didn't know other restaurants were closed! Didn't know and would not have stayed if were informed
The only issue i have is the furnace ran all night. The room was perfectly private and clean. We right at the stairs to the restaurant. Service was great.
Our stay in september was only one night but we enjoyed our room, the atmosphere, the staff and breakfast
The lighting on the road in front of the building is very sparse, no street lights. When I checked out early in the am the lobby was locked and I could not turn in my keys or get a receipt.
Loretta the desk attendant/ clerk was most helpful with checking in , answering questions and troubleshooting . Nice area to visit in Snowshoe , West Virginia . The Cordurory Inn & Lodge was our room accommodations pre riding the Bald Knob train ride in Cass , West Virginia
Excellent, very clean
Liked the headed bathroom floor. The property was nice and the beds comfortable
No dining options on site or within easy walking distance. Breakfast/Coffee not open til 730 on a weekday. Poor attention to detail regarding bedding for the pullout bed. Otherwise an OK stay.
Was very beautiful veiw, nice clean great parking! As far as dislikes the breakfast bar was basically non existent, coffee was fine.
