The Maycliffe Hotel

The hotel seemed more like a bed sit.
Apart from the room there wasn’t any facilities.
I got disturbed by a domestic in the middle of the night.
No staff to deal with it.
I have raised this to the management with no response.

DO NOT STAY HERE! So I was walked to my room through the hotel which the carpet I can only describe as something you see in a night club all sticky and dirty, we walked past a downstairs kitchen area that was disgusting with food on the floor and the dirty dishes all over the counter tops, we arrived at the room which on the entrance door to our hotel room was a combination lock which I did not have the code and on the inside was a YALE lock but I was unable to exit through that door as it was it locked from the outside via the combination! Also there was an exit door leading to rear stair well of the property this also had a combination lock in the inside which I did also not have the code too! The only exit was a set of patio doors which I was told my exit/entry, So In the event of the fire me and my family would’ve been trapped if the fire was near the patio doors as there was no egress, the sofas had blankets on the covering stains, I addressed these concerns to the man at the hotel and was told the room is adequate and the combination locks are for the use of the cleaning staff, there was general bad aura and unsafe feeling in this place. Also called customer services once I left and stayed at a reputable hotel and was told the room is ok and will be kept if I wish to return which i obviously did not. I will be reporting the unsafeness and fire safety of this hotel to trading standards and HSE

As soon as we arrived there was noone on site. Had to call a number just to get in! The codes took ages to work on the door. When we got to our room it was totally different from the pictures advetised PLUS the room had paint pots, ladder and other decorating stuff all over the room. Absolutely disgusting! Told them about it whilst being on the phone and they refused to give me my money back. It also smelled of cigarettes. Safe to say we didn't stay there and had to spend more to stay somewhere

Unkempt, dirty, rubbish and broken furniture everywhere, no sheets for the children's beds, smelled.

The room was very bland, no decoration. Very few sockets in the room and the bathroom decor was dated and unattractive.

People might struggle with the hill but I didn’t find it a problem.
