ate out for breakfast. The accommodation was in a great location right in the heart of Morpeth's main street. Had some things to do in East Maitland and it was an easy 10 minutes' drive away.
Location and the attention to detail in the accomodation.
I needed to watch the cricket but they do not have a tv!!
I coped...I watched it on my phone. Didn't love that!!
The room itself was very spacious and there was plenty of goodies, ie in the Vovo room there was a packet of Iced Vovo's, very nice touch.
I cut my foot on a rusty piece of metal sticking up from the floor. It was a part of the floor.
No TV. Yeah, that's on me for not reading the fine print.
Really well thought out little touches that make such a huge difference.
The history
Great location for attending a local wedding
Very loud and bits of damp on old walls
It’s a historic place
Excellent location - walk to everything or sit on the deck and watch the activity in the main street. The upstairs bedrooms were spacious and comfortable.
The living area was very cold and quite dark. The air-con blows on top of a bookcase so doesn't heat the room.
We loved our stay at the William Arnott boutique hotel, and the surrounding village was
Location only
Wasn't properly cleaned, skirtings, backs of doors, window sills all needed a wash. No TV, no hairdryer, no scourer to clean dishes, towels okay but only one washer and hand towel and both were very old. Description on web said two bedrooms but it had one bedroom and bunk beds in the living area. We left early and lost one nights accommodation because it was so uncomfortable. We added two nights with the owner directly because we received an email from them to say you charge 15% so to book directly. We thought that was a bit cheeky given that we only found them through your site. When I spoke to the owner he said there were lots of restaurants and eating places but on Monday night nothing was open. The photos on the web are very deceptive. Very over priced this is basic accommodation billed as boutique hotel but there was no service at all.
LT
The historic ornate decor in the separate lounge and nice updated bathroom with lovely walk in shower were very inviting. The staff were very accommodating and understanding.
It was the worst experience of staying in a place. It’s called a hotel but it’s not even convenient like a cabin. Full of cockroaches and spiders around the room poor cleaning and poor service. No one is responsible as a reception or answering your calls. The wooden building is super old and upstair residents keep banging on the floor to make every one quiet whole time. We had to escape from there after spending nonsleeping night
The location in the Main Street is central and within easy walking distance to shops etc. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean and tidy. Linen was provided. There was cereal provided along with milk and fruit juice. There was a Nespresso machine but no milk frother.
The problems started after check in. The wrong wifi code was given and that resulted in exchange of texts. I finally sorted it out.
We discovered that the room had no tv! At almost $300 per night I expected a reasonable tv. But nothing. They had a small tablet similar to a small IPad but it didn’t work via the Google Chat. It was plugged in on top of the small refrigerator so you had to stand to watch it, if it worked.. So no news of current affairs programmes and certainly no regular tv. They had hosts who were never on site made no helpful suggestions.
The hotel had no hair dryer and when I enquired why was told people stole them so they were not replaced. This was unbelievable and I sent them a text and asked for check out after day one. The hosts consisted of husband and wife and she was totally unhelpful. Her husband did phone me and directed me to another room where there was a hairdryer.
The hotel is a very old historic building and although some cosmetic renovations have been completed, it was substandard considering the price. There were no other guests staying.
Our room was supposed to have a garden view but the garden contained rubbish, old timber and unfinished renovation work debris. I have attached a photo of the view.
We did stay the two nights reluctantly.
continental breakfast very nice
Loved the restoration work on an iconic heritage building.
Nice to see solo travellers being catered for so well...not always the case!
Light management of bedroom at night - harder to sleep with it coming in the slit glass in one wall.
Would have preferred to be able to open the window onto the river even a little, for fresh air rather than air con.
This is a unique property and a lot of fun to stay at. It made the weekend away just that little bit more special
