Ast Surf Hotel

I feel sad abouth this but the staying is impossible at surf as all the area surrounding the hotel in under construction and almost impossible to find. I tried to call them several times before my checking and there was no one to pick the phone. I thought it was a scammed. After 30 minutes i found it but there was not a accessible parking. Trafiic was unavailable and they wanted me to back up into traffic to find a place. I decided to leave. I will not recommend staying here solely beacuse outside hotel conditions. I did not stay therefore can not review the hotel. although I step in the lobby to try to find someone to talk. Not easy. Vibe was not for me.

We had a great week at the AST Surf Hotel. Great waves right in front of the hotel, unbelievably good food, friendly staff and also Anibal, our wonderful surf guide who put us into the best waves. My son and I stayed for a week in April, surfed every day and generally had a brilliant time in El Salvador. We'll be back.

First time visiting La Libertad, Wr had a good experience staying here for 2 night the vibe, the food and the staff were great.

Wifi wasn't working

I travelled solo, stayed for 15 days and had the most unforgetable holiday! Comfortable accommodation, amazing food, very kind staff, unbeatable location and easy access to lots of activities.
Jorge runs a tight ship and will make sure you'll have the best time.

Second time at AST and couldn't be happier! The staff is caring and wonderful, the food is fantastic, and the view is mesmerizing! Even coordinating the ride from the airport was seamless! Thank you Jorge and everyone there!

The closest hotel to the heart of the city of La Libertad located directly on the beach. Just a one minute walk to the boardwalk with amusement park, restaurants, and shops. The hotel rooms are simple and to the point. Good size bathroom and comfortable beds. The pool has a great view of the ocean as does the rooftop bar and restaurant. The breakfast was unforgettable. I ordered the typical Salvadoran breakfast. Never imagined it so delicious and presented so beautifully. The hotel staff is superb. Free parking with overnight security.

El hotel más cercano al corazón de la ciudad de La Libertad ubicado directamente en la playa. A sólo un minuto a pie del malecón con parque de atracciones, restaurantes y tiendas. Las habitaciones del hotel son sencillas pero grandes con camas cómodas. El baño es de buen tamaño con agua caliente y bastante presión. La piscina tiene una gran vista del océano igual que el bar y el restaurante de la azotea. ¡El desayuno fue inolvidable! Pedí el desayuno típico salvadoreño. Nunca lo imaginé tan delicioso y tan bellamente presentado. El personal del hotel es magnífico. El estacionamiento (parqueo) es gratuito con seguridad nocturna.

Two words: FOOD POISONING. I did the all inclusive surf coaching package and was having a great trip until my last day when I had the hamburger at the restaurant that was included and then was projectile vomiting and diarrhea at the same time all night long. The food poisoning was so bad that I couldn’t get on my flight home the next day and had to stay in bed all day drinking Gatorade just to recover from being up all night vomiting and diarrhea.

When I told the manager Jorge about this his response was “it’s not our responsibility” and I said it was your food and he proceeded to argue with me because I had eaten with 3 American doctors that evening with food I watched prepared (we all ate the same thing and I was the only one sick). I told him I was staying the night and missing my flight that day and he needed to comp my room - he said that I should have thought to message him on WhatsApp in the middle of the night while I was vomiting and sitting in my own poop as it was coming out of both ends at the same time.

Not only did I lose the money from my flight because I was so sick and have to buy a new flight, I also had to go see a local doctor that told me to not fly for 3 days to recover. So I am out of pocket having to stay somewhere else, missed my last day of surfing with the package and my meals that I had paid for on my last day. Of course none of this was comped nor was any responsibility or even any basic empathy given from the manager Jorge.

Marcos was my surf guide, original I had Anibal and he was not great. I had to keep asking Jorge for Marcos and when I got him on my 3rd day I was so impressed with his surf coaching skills (I’m an intermediate surfer and working on my short board) and his exceptional customer service - the man took care of all of my needs from taking me to the grocery store to checking all of the surf spots to find the best one for the day. Marcos was the savior of this trip for me. I tipped him very well as exceptional service should be rewarded, which is what Marcos gave.

The room was fine except that the club 4 doors down blast music so loudly I had to wear my noise cancellation AirPods to sleep every single night. You will also hear people walking above you in the restaurant. This location is very local El Salvador so if you are expecting expat/backpacker vibes this is not it, you’ll be pretty much hanging at the hotel when not surfing. Folks are pretty social and I met some nice people.

Stay here if you want to get so sick from the food that is included that you can’t surf or get on a plane for 3 days and want to hear loud music in your room until 2am.

I had a good experience. The room was excellent. The restaurant had good food. The staff are very friendly and helpful

This is a nice property with an excellent staff. Our room had an amazing view and you could hear the waves splashing through the night. I definitely recommend this property

I came here for a solo surf trip. Quick Monday to Friday . Jorge took care of me and was excellent in communicating with me to ensure I was comfortable. I had to change things around a bit and he was able to accommodate every ask I had . The rooms were clean and tidy. I had everything I needed. The food was incredible . A lot of variety and very high quality . Diego was my surf guide and he took very good care of me . He ensured I got waves and brought me to various waves which was awesome . He made sure I was taken care of and treated nicely everywhere we went. Thank you AST I will be back !
