Very clean and wonderful staff.
I felt there was too much “for sale” in the room. I’m not use to that, if it’s not complementary don’t put it in there. I felt I was in a drug store. To me it took away from my relaxation, just have a list of things you can purchase, if wanted, it would make the hotel a little more upscale.
It was clean and confortable
It is overpriced
Location
King size bed is in fact a queen size. Super small room. Not welcoming staff. Only one young gentleman was very professional. There is nothing wrong with the different levels of hospitality. This one is selling 5 stars for $500/night. From my long experience, this hotel is considered as a 4 star hotel and should price at max $200/night incl tax.
The staff and property are quite nice. The location is okay. There are places with better views.
It is a great pain talking to their billing people. They put so many extra charges on my credit card that need to be taken off. They put pending charges for 4 rooms when I only had 2 rooms. People should know the valet costs 60 dollars a night before booking. If I ever stay here again, it’ll be cash only or nothing.
We all enjoyed the facilities, very clean and the staff was all nice.
Nothing
It was great
The property is beautiful and stylis
The room was beautiful and comfortable with a very nice view. The restroom was clean and had fantastic complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. The room also had a steamer available which I prefer over an iron. The rooftop lounge was amazing and accessible. On new years eve, the lounge was only accessible to those who purchased tickets to the party, we didnt go to that. The next day we went and had great cocktails at sunset with a small crowd. That was really nice!
There is only valet parking which is convenient but expensive. The pillows in the room have no support and feel way too soft. There is only an nestle espresso machine in the room. We didnt like it, we were hoping for a coffee machine. They only give two creams and it wasnt enough for a good cup of espresso. The breakfast at the rooftop lounge was also dissapointing. I ordered steel cut oatmeal which was cold with no taste and the portion size was incredibly small. It filled a quarter of the shallow bowl it was served in for $13. Overall, my stay was okay but I would not go back. I have stayed at better places with more to offer and less expensive.
I booked this hotel months in advance for a special occasion and paid over $1,000 for a single night. I chose this property specifically for a particular room type and view that the hotel publicly promotes and confirmed multiple times by phone prior to booking.
Despite this, the weeks leading up to my stay were filled with confusion and contradictory information from the hotel. I was repeatedly told I had booked the wrong room and even that the hotel “does not have” the view shown on its own website and social media. Only after sending photo proof and being placed on hold for over 30 minutes did staff finally acknowledge that I did, in fact, have the correct room. Follow-up emails confirming these conversations went unanswered, offering no reassurance or accountability. Two days before arrival, a manager assured me the room was blocked, secured, and would not be reassigned. However, upon arriving shortly after the stated 4:00 PM check-in time, I was told the room was not ready because previous guests checked out at 4:00 PM. As someone with hotel industry experience, this should never happen—especially when a room has documented notes and is tied to a premium booking. Check-in was delayed by over an hour, and the room was not on the highest floor as promised.
Throughout the entire experience, the service tone was consistently cold and dismissive. This was noticeable enough that my partner commented on it independently after calling the hotel himself. For a property positioning itself as luxury, basic hospitality—warmth, reassurance, and proactive communication—was missing.
Food and beverage service further reflected the lack of attention to detail. On New Year’s Eve, staff gave conflicting information about restaurant availability. When room service was ordered, items arrived incomplete. Breakfast the following morning was equally disappointing: cold coffee, undercooked pancakes that did not match the menu description, ignored special instructions, missing basics like sugar, and plastic utensils—none of which align with a luxury experience. While the room itself was attractive, the overall stay was overshadowed by poor communication, broken promises, and an absence of service recovery. Luxury hospitality is defined by how issues are handled, and unfortunately, this experience fell well short of that standard.
Very disappointed with the restaurant Moons Daughter both breakfast and dinner.
Out of several meal items. Slow service.
Thompson San Antonio – Riverwalk, by Hyatt offers a wonderful blend of modern luxury and comfort in a prime River Walk location. The hotel features stylish design, spacious and well-appointed rooms, and excellent amenities that make the stay truly enjoyable. The rooftop area and dining options add to the overall experience, and the staff is professional, attentive, and welcoming. Its convenient location makes it easy to explore nearby attractions, restaurants, and entertainment. Overall, it’s an excellent choice for a relaxing and memorable stay in San Antonio.
Matthew T was great valet service and quick for assistance and respectful with our family and friends. He was very helpful.
This stay was very disappointing. Only one restaurant was open during our visit, and breakfast was especially frustrating. Seating was limited, with long waits just to be seated, followed by more waiting to order and receive food. Each breakfast took around 1.5–2 hours. The food quality was poor and nowhere near five-star standards. Dinner was also unimpressive.
The hotel itself felt underwhelming. The décor looked cheap, the pool was very small, and the overall atmosphere did not feel luxurious.
Check-in was not welcoming at all. There was no welcome drink, even though champagne was sitting at the front desk and never offered.
As an Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts guest, there was confusing and conflicting information about the property credit. Staff verbally said it did not cover valet parking, but the printed handout said it did. We were then told that handout was outdated and given a new one showing valet was not covered. This felt disorganized and poorly managed.
Valet service was slow, with long waits to retrieve the car.
At checkout, the bill looked correct, but after returning home we noticed our credit card had been charged extra. We had to contact Hyatt customer service to get the issue corrected.
Overall, the experience did not match the price or the five-star rating. I would not stay here again.
Matthew T. was very helpful and careful with my vehicle; would definitely request him for future times while at the Thompson (moons daughters).
This was such a great, relaxing experience as we are making our way back to the Valley from Dallas for the holidays. Traveling with both of our nearly 80lb golden retrievers can be a bit stressful on with both their kennels, essentials and our luggage. All the staff from the valet, bellman’s like Armando, restaurant staff were wonderful and did everything they could to help us. When checking in, valet and bellman’s took it upon themselves to actually put all our travel stuff (including kennels) in our room while checking in to let me focus on our babies. Even when checking out, Armando got all our stuff from the room, took it down and loaded it up to our truck. Overall great room service, food, drinks, and very relaxing & spacious rooms.
My wife and I stayed at The Thompson for a incredible concert at the Tobin Center just a few minutes walk away and the closest hotel to the Tobin Center. It is a first class hotel with all of the amenities and everything about the hotel was beautiful. The entire 24 hour period we were there, we never heard any noise coming from any of the hotel rooms; either walking down the hall or from our room. It is the quietest hotel we have ever stayed. Our extended check out time was fantastic after a late night at the Tobin Center.
We continue to come back to this spot in San Antonio. It feels more like an adult hotel, but we have brought our young children multiple times and are treated so well! They are always so kind to set up little gifts and even tents in our room to accommodate our children. When we went back without our children, Juan, our server even asked after them. He always goes above and beyond when we are there. The whole staff is excellent too!
