The Farnam, Autograph Collection

Picture this. You’ve just arrived in downtown Omaha after a 3-hour drive from Kansas City for date number two with an absolute stunner you met on a dating app. No, it wasn’t Hinge. But I digress.

It was my second trip to Omaha ever, and this time I’d be enjoying a staycation at the Farnam hotel with the aforementioned stunner who would parade me around downtown Omaha so I could take in all it had to offer.

I pulled up to the curb and was greeted by Derech. The word “greeted” is really an understatement. I felt honored, if not almost famous, as Derech welcomed me to the Farnam Hotel. “Your Jeep is incredible brother” he stated as he opened the door of my 4” lifted 2023 392 Red Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. It’s important I note these details because Derech pointed them all out in addition to my massive 38” tires. At this time, Derech had waved down his GM to take a look at my Jeep. Three grown men admiring a gorgeous piece of equipment curbside at the Farnam Hotel was not on my bingo card to start the weekend.

Derech asked me my last name for my valet ticket. “Paradise”, I said. “Paradise?! That’s your real last name? That’s badass bro. Right this way, we are going to take good care of you here at the Farnam.”

I explained it was my first time as I was handed a chilled glass of champagne by one of the four employees currently helping check me in at the front desk. The attentive and friendly staff made me feel like I was someone famous and was treated as such. When I explained I was here for date number two with a girl who lived in Omaha, they were all instantly on Team Paradise and told me they'd make sure we had everything we needed for a special weekend.

Derech asked me what I wanted to get into, and after giving him some of the food and drink experiences I was interested in, he fired off a perfectly curated agenda. Derech walked me to my elevator, which, in all my travels staying at hotels all over the world, was a first. The bellman personally walked me to my elevator. I thought maybe he would join me in my room because at this time, I felt we were best friends, but Derech knew my date would be arriving soon, and I wanted her to feel the royal treatment I just had upon my arrival, so his job was to locate her in the lobby and make sure she got a chilled glass of champagne as well.

And now, the reason I’m writing this review. This was the moment everything came together, and why I will never stay anywhere else when I go to Omaha. My date had arrived, and after having a drink in the room, we headed to the lobby. On our way down, I explained how incredible the staff was and how everyone seemed invested in our story. I could tell she didn’t really believe me or understand how invested the staff at Farnam was, but then we entered the lobby, and as we walked past the front desk, the girl working went, “Mr. Paradise, we are glad to see you. Hope you two have a great time together.”

My date looked at me, and it clicked to her that this staff was extremely friendly, outgoing, and invested. It was in this moment that she realized I wasn’t totally full of it, and all the interactions and treatment I’d experienced were genuine and real. This staff helped me really set the tone for what ended up being an epic night.

Derech was there to see us off, and he and my date quickly discussed their ideas for our night out to make sure I felt the full impact and magic of downtown Omaha. The rest is history. I’m writing this review six weeks after my stay. I told the Farnam I would write it the next day, and I regret it’s taken me this long, but alas, here it is. My review.

And sitting next to me after her second weekend visit to Kansas City is my Omaha stunner. She’s working. I’m writing. We are both smiling. Life is good. Thanks to the Farnam, your staff, our bartender Sarah, and a special thanks to the greatest bellman/concierge manager in all the land, Derech.

This is a well-appointed Autograph Collection hotel in a convenient downtown location. The rooms are modern and very well put together.

Special thanks to the front desk team, restaurant staff, and Derrick in valet. All were warm and welcoming.

Best hotel i ever stayed in in over 60 years. Met with a glass of champagne at check in. Room 1014 is stunning and spotless.

Stayed here for one night for business. Really impressed with the location and quality of hotel. Very quiet, large rooms, comfy beds. Enjoyed the bar downstairs. Very friendly staff. Only small issue, the shower is new and beautiful, but not totally intuitive.

The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The room was clean and we loved the bathroom.

I booked this hotel for a birthday staycation for a guy I’m dating, and the experience exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, Sam went above and beyond by upgrading the room I had reserved to an incredible suite. It completely elevated the celebration and made his birthday feel extra special.

The entire staff was welcoming and attentive, and you can tell they genuinely care about their guests. We also had an amazing dinner at Dynamite Woodfire Grill hotel restaurant — everything was delicious — and the Catalyst cocktail lounge had such a cool atmosphere with fantastic drinks.

Thank you to Sam and the whole team for turning a simple birthday stay into such a memorable experience. We’ll absolutely be back!

We booked an overnight stay in Omaha and were fortunate to get the penthouse. The staff was beyond impressive, very hospitable and went out of their way to take very good care of us.
The room was very luxurious, the finishes were very nice and the view of the park was perfect.

I stayed here one night when my flight home was cancelled. There is massive construction on the street in front of the hotel. No one was at the door to greet me. I have titanium status but wasn't given an upgrade, only asked if I preferred a high floor. I was not recognized as a Bonvoy member either. The standard room is nice. I was not told about breakfast benefits or given clear directions about self parking. Learned later that it's separate from the hotel. Overall I did not feel welcomed, maybe I came on an off day but definitely had a very different experience from what everyone raved about here. I had such high expectations! Not sure I'll stay here again. I'm staying at another Autograph hotel in March, hoping for a better experience.
