Beautiful hotel with very comfortable rooms within walking distance of the Octagon.
Pros:

Gorgeous property and rooms, which are quite large. Amazing architecture of interior space.

The worst among 10 hotels I stayed in New Zealand.
Cons:

(1) the logo is BLACK! ! Who would think of this idea?! It took me sometime to finally find it on a rainy day with grey to dark sky. I noticed several other customers looking for it too.
(2) the curtain is not able to block the light at all! Very light at night as well as early morning when it was daylight. See the two pictures I attached.
(3) there was bright blue light from the table, which I had to cover by my clothes.
(4) the room was facing towards the road and the sound isolation was bad too. I could hear the soaring cars at night. Bad sleep by the light and the sound.

Pros:

Location downtown was handy to restaurants and the Dunedin Train station that we wanted to visit.

Cons:

The elevator was not working so we had to lug our bags up the stairs. Neither front desk staff (evening and morning)were very helpful or customer focused in their explanation of the situation to guests checking in. No discount of any sort was offered. The evening lady offered to help carry the bags but she seemed overwhelmed. A little extra effort on customer relations would be good in such situations.

Highly recommend staying at this hotel!
Pros:

Absolutely gorgeous hotel! Very modern and comfortable, the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in with divine cloud pillows! Very clean and comfortable. It was a one night stop over, would love to return next time we are in Dunedin. Highly recommended.

Cons:

There was a little bit of street noise but as a little sleeper it was still fine.

Mattress too soft…terrible for our back.
King bed instead of twin beds as requested.
Tv out of order.
Safe out of order.
No phone in the room.
Only 2 capsules of coffee.
No spare roll of toilet paper.
Door stop of toilet door ..broken.
Windows very dirty.
Restaurant very basic and close at 2pm
No help to carry the luggage’s.

Staff very nice and helpful.Poor Management.

Pros:

Before checking in, I saw all sorts of negative reviews and was really torn about it. But after actually staying here, I found the reality wasn't like that at all. The front desk staff were super friendly, the hotel design is fantastic, the rooms are spacious, and the bathroom style is absolutely amazing. Plus, the hotel is right across from a shopping mall.

Cons:

The only downside is that the shower and toilet are directly opposite each other... which means when one person is using the bathroom and the other is showering, they end up staring at each other.
