Perfect retreat: forest air, onsen, farm-fresh food, and flawless service.
Pros:

The hotel is surrounded by pine forest with incredibly fresh air. Rooms are spacious, there’s an onsen inside, and everything is spotless. The staff think ahead and handle every request with care. Every evening they light real fires in the lobby and outside, which creates a special atmosphere. They also have their own farm, so vegetables served at breakfast, lunch, and dinner are fresh and delicious. Staying here gives you a real sense of Japanese philosophy of cleanliness and order.

Our stay was fantastic and we want to come back again. We loved the staff, the views and the food.
Pros:

The breakfast was fantastic and every day something different. Dinners were exceptional in both restaurants. The views were fantastic, especially from the Italian restaurant (5th floor).

High end hotel that caters to Japanese guests. Great service. Nice property. But, no English language staff. No concierge. After telling me they don’t have a concierge, they told me via an electronic translator that no one could give me any guidance on train transportation. The facility does not have a gym which I find odd given that it is a very expensive, luxury property. For those that eat at the hotel — which is what we did given that nearby options are limited — there is what they called a “french” or “Italian” restaurant. In reality, both restaurants are fixed menu Japanese fine dining with either a French or Italian flare. I stayed in a suite with an Onsen which was very nice. So, in sum, it’s a very nice hotel with great service. For the price though, I expected more. Bottom line, if you are not a Japanese speaker, you might consider other options.

Pros:

ヒラマツホテルは三件目です。全国制覇目指してますが、配慮が少し足りないかな？食事はとても美味しい！どのヒラマツホテルも最高でした！今回はアルコールだけ有料だったのですが、いつも無料でついてたので、有料がわかる様に説明されたが親切だと思います。
後はいつもながら最高でした！
