The decor was nice. The refrigerator was lacking though.
The included breakfast was very bad and severely lacking. For the price we paid - I was expecting much better.
The room was nice. Breakfast was good, wished they had waffles or pancakes. Staff was super friendly.
Coffee, tea, hot choc
Limited food options
When I checked in the receptionist was having a bad day. He indicated the hotel was short staffed and our rooms may not be cleaned. The cleaning crew left and he was the only one there to run the hotel and clean the rooms. He kept saying he was going to quit.
There was a long due to checkin and everyone was being told that they may not have a room ready. There were about 3 groups ahead of me.
Nicely presented and top quality
All was good
Clean
Need more towel racks
Sehr gutes und gepflegtes Business-Hotel für die Durchreise. Sehr freundliches Personal!
Location. Cleanliness. Helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was much more than we expected. Very good. Comfortable and convenient for us to Jenison and lakeshore area .
Nothing.
Very clean and comfortable
Like everything
Although I would not stay at this hotel again, there were some positives. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. There was several charging outlets on each side of the bed with a clock which wad useful. The hotel have Drove brand toiletries which were very appreciated. There was a bath and hand towel and wash cloth for each of us. There was also a large window to look out. The hotel pantry has a nice selection of soda and free tea and coffee available. Because it is a rural area, the highway the hotel is on was pretty quiet once the sun set. We did not eat the breakfast because the area was so cramped, but the usual cold items were available.
I was excited to stay in a relatively new hotel, but I do not think the Avid brand is for me. We stay in several hotels on motorcycle trips, and I am usually happy with clean and comfortable bed, but this had so many other inconveniences that I was disappointed that I did not pay more to stay elsewhere. Despite being newly built, every (and I mean every) wall is marred even in places where I am not sure how anything could have gotten near the wall to damage it. The room is the smallest I have ever encountered. You couldn't even fit the luggage cart in the room. It was so cramped that combined with the gray and red color scheme, it bordered on claustrophobic with two people in the room. Your bags had to sit on the tiny desk or bench. Somehow, the shade for the window had a huge makeup stain near the bottom. The only overhead lights require your keycard to turn on, and will only turn off four minutes after removing (and not a second before). Instead of having a bathroom night light, the light around the entire mirror is on a motion sensor so that you can't be fast enough to shut the door in the middle of the night without waking the other person. The overhead light would not turn on, so the shower was dimly lit. Because the eye for the backlight on the mirror is by the door, you end up in the middle of a shower in complete darkness until you wave an arm out of the shower door. This turned out to be less taxing than you would think because the shower doors were not leveled when installed, so they constantly slide open unless you put something in to stop them. The toe shelf was loose from the wall, making it unusable. Instead of bodywash, handwash was installed with the shower toiletries. I am sure housekeeping has requested these repairs as they would have made keeping the room as clean as it was difficult. There is no ice bucket. You can use large plastic bowls for ice in the lobby, but it melts quickly without insulation.
The location was convenient and so was the parking.
We waited for several minutes for the front desk attendant to arrive before we rang the bell. After several more minutes, the attendant arrived at the front desk and had obviously been asleep.
I inquired if our room was ADA accessible, and he stated that it was a hearing accessible room. I inquired if there were any ADA rooms available. He stated there was only one and it was booked. I asked if the room had a walk-in shower and he confirmed it did. Due to medical mobility issues, after entering our room, I checked to see if there was a shower chair available or a shower seat attached, and there was not. I called the front desk and spoke to the same attendant to request. A shower chair be brought to our room. He told me if he had time he would do so because he was so busy at the desk he would get around to it. We only saw one other patron anywhere in the lobby and they were headed to their room. After waiting about a half hour, I thought I would meet him in the lobby. He was just getting off the elevator with a shower seat that clamps onto the side of a tub, not a freestanding chair that can be used in a walk-in shower. I pointed out to him that our room does not have a tub, so the attachable shower seat would not work. He stated that he wondered why they even had those attachable tub seats in the hotel. He sent us a text later in the evening stating he wanted to make our stay comfortable and he would switch us to a room with a tub so we could use the attachable seat. However, after two hours, we were already settled in our room and it would’ve been very inconvenient to repack and move to a different room.
The first safety issue was no shower chair for my husband, a person with medical mobility issues. The second safety issue is that the automatic lights went off in the bathroom while I was in the shower leaving me in pitch dark. The only way to navigate getting out of the shower was to carefully feel for the wall and make my way to the vanity.
The rooms were clean the staff was very friendly everything was nice
The noise level is pretty bad. Not the fault of the hotel per se but if you're facing the highway, traffic is pretty loud at times
The location is great if you want to visit around the area, including Holland, Saugatuck, Douglas. Price is great and breakfast was included. The hotel is very new and clean.
The temperature in the building in general was cold when I was there. 65F? I needed to move rooms because a family with 4 little children checked in next door and I could hear everything. The staff were awesome though. They found me another room and all was good in the end.
