Nice place but pricey.
Pros:

Location and renovation are great. Bar is nice- great bartender.

Cons:

Asked for early check in by email and phone call. Usually check in is 3pm and asked for 2pm to get ready for a wedding. Arrived and room was just starting to be cleaned at 2pm. Also no onsite parking.

Great stay! Centrally located and charming.
Pros:

Colonial Inn is a great option if you want to be right in the heart of downtown Hillsborough.

The location is the real win. You can walk everywhere - shops, a couple of bars, restaurants - and Hillsborough has a genuinely warm small-town vibe. The on-site restaurant/bar at the Inn is small but exceeded expectations: I grabbed a bar seat, the bartender was excellent, and the cocktail was spot-on and refreshingly inexpensive (especially if you’re used to DC prices). The room itself was clean, the bed was comfortable, and everything functioned as expected.

Cons:

Nothing truly off putting! The bathroom could use an update, the walls are a bit thin, and the shower water pressure was underwhelming.

This is not a luxe property, and while I wasn’t expecting that, I did snag a nice deal that convinced me to book the one-night stay. I don’t know that I’d pay much more than I did with the deal.

Wonderful Inn in the heart of Hillsborough. The arty community has great restaurants and Kim’s Bakery for a delicious homemade quiche and baked goodies.

Pros:

We loved staying here for our anniversary and will probably make it an annual occurrence. The hotel is right downtown and near restaurants, and parking is right in front. If you want to stay in a hotel from the 1700s in Hillsborough, then this is the place to go.

Pros:

cute spot in the middle of town and with easy access to lots of green space. clean room. biscuits and coffee/tea in the mornings. street parking is free. eat at Nomad across the street! and be sure to walk down to the riverwalk. overall no complaints.

Very enjoyable, lovely spot. Would highly recommend it.
Pros:

There was no breakfast, was told there were biscuits with coffee, but nothing for our 2 days.
But the dinners were delicious!!! Top notch !!!

Cons:

We did have trouble working the shower, not very user friendly! And the AC unit.....we had no clue, should have had at least a bit of instruction to help out. We managed with trial and error.

Anniversary Dinner!
Pros:

We celebrated our anniversary at The Colonial Inn, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. We had the House Salad, the Colonial Ribeye, the Crusted Lamb Chops, and the Red Velvet Cake. The food and the service were both outstanding, and the Lamb Chops were some of the best we've ever had.
Thank you for a lovely dinner. We certainly hope to return soon!
