Emaculate room, great renovations, quiet. Would book again if visiting the area in a heartbeat.
Pros:

Conveniently located; street parking, nicely maintained property.

Cons:

The magnolias needed a little fallen leaf maintenance, but that’s really picky.

Beautiful peaceful setting and location for college graduation stay at The Colonial.
Pros:

Gardens, great location to local restaurants and art shops. Old home luxury feel.

Cons:

All marks off were due to room very hot/no air movement. No fan on even though monitor on wall read temp and fan on-outdoor in 70s much cooler than inside our room. “Muffins and fruit” for breakfast with coffee were sparse for a place that has bar/restaurant and speaks of luxury and beautiful morning outdoor coffee/reading/work garden tree lined paths.

Nice place but pricey.
Pros:

Location and renovation are great. Bar is nice- great bartender.

Cons:

Asked for early check in by email and phone call. Usually check in is 3pm and asked for 2pm to get ready for a wedding. Arrived and room was just starting to be cleaned at 2pm. Also no onsite parking.

Pros:

Beautiful restored historic inn. The room was more than comfortable; we were able to check in early!

Spencer’s Tavern is a Michelin-star worthy restaurant and bar!

Great stay! Centrally located and charming.
Pros:

Colonial Inn is a great option if you want to be right in the heart of downtown Hillsborough.

The location is the real win. You can walk everywhere - shops, a couple of bars, restaurants - and Hillsborough has a genuinely warm small-town vibe. The on-site restaurant/bar at the Inn is small but exceeded expectations: I grabbed a bar seat, the bartender was excellent, and the cocktail was spot-on and refreshingly inexpensive (especially if you’re used to DC prices). The room itself was clean, the bed was comfortable, and everything functioned as expected.

Cons:

Nothing truly off putting! The bathroom could use an update, the walls are a bit thin, and the shower water pressure was underwhelming.

This is not a luxe property, and while I wasn’t expecting that, I did snag a nice deal that convinced me to book the one-night stay. I don’t know that I’d pay much more than I did with the deal.
