Beds are comfortable and there is a good view
Staff was horrible, we were the only guests at the time and they didnt let us check in early (even though its mentioned its free early check-in or late check out) breakfast was disaster (no buffet) and same every day! Restaurant staff tried their best but I think hotel management is so layed back. Hotel is old and that is visible from furniture to the staff uniforms

There is a persistent car noise emanating from the always-open main hotel entrance, even though it could be closed.
We encountered tiny ants in our room, making it impossible to leave food outside the refrigerator.
The bathroom door's tendency to close itself resulted in excessive heat inside; we had to wedge a bin in the door to allow the air conditioning to cool it.
The balcony windows shook throughout the night due to the sea waves, which would likely disturb light sleepers.

Wifi kept dropping out. You can o my use one set of towels at the pool each day without extra charge

Lovely hotel, big pool and right on the beach - our room was perfect, very clean and with a big balcony that had a lovely sea view. Staff were all so friendly and attentive. We had a full body massage at the hotel spa which was amazing. Food at the restaurant was also very good - highly recommend this hotel!
We loved it all - just a note for others that you may have to walk along the beach a few minutes if you want to swim, as the sea outside the property was too strong to swim in, but we liked this as it meant the section of beach that the hotel was on was quiet and peaceful.

Stunning room, with wrap around views of the sea, palm trees and such a comfortable bed. I could have stayed in my room or on the balcony for most of the day! We also had a wonderful house keeping team, who couldn’t do enough - there was daily yoga, aqua aerobics and Pilates - breakfast and dining area was a let down - not nearly as stylish as the rooms

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lucky Elephant. Staff were always helpful, breakfast was acceptable and the pool was super relaxing and clean. A special thank you to the house keeping staff. They did a clean and tidy up like no other. Excellent work!

We had a fantastic stay at The Lucky Elephant Hotel! The room was spotless, and the entire hotel was well-maintained, making it feel fresh and comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant manager was especially kind—always giving extra attention to guests and ensuring our stay was perfect.
The hotel is a quiet boutique retreat, ideal for relaxation. While the sea isn’t swimmable due to waves, the clean, uncrowded beach is perfect for walks and stunning sunsets. Plus, it’s just a short drive from the lively part of Hikkaduwa. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway!
Breakfast could have more options, you won’t be hungry, however more variety would be perfect
