I stayed here with work colleagues for 10 nights over three weeks recently whilst in London on business.
The first week was good, the room was fine and the stay generally good. We checked in on the screens on the ground floor on arrival, it was all quick. I found that I had everything I needed in the room (albeit the safes are quite small and didn’t fit my laptop in).
The hotel restaurant is an Italian and the food is pleasant. Service was a bit slow though but always friendly. There is a large selection of excellent curry houses just around the corner on Brick Lane though.
The roof top bar is nice but expensive.
The second week they had a new reservation system and my goodness it caused so many problems and just added a lot of frustration. Our rooms had ended up being allocated as accessible rooms and family rooms which we didn’t want to need (in fact my booking explicitly asked NOT to be an accessible room). The rooms were made up for families of four. I did manage to get reallocated with the promise that it would be sorted the following week.
We get a room allowance with our company booking and this was fine in week one but for week two we had problems at check in, we had problems with the rooms, we had problems booking food to the room. The new reservation system has caused utter chaos and has made it extremely difficult for the customer (and the staff!).
In week three the chaos of the booking system continued. Again my room had to be changed on arrival, we constantly had to have our bookings to hand to physically show that we had a room allowance and it was just generally frustrating and an inconvenience after long working days.
The hotel itself is ok, although we had stayed at the Clayton nearby for 2 weeks which had been a better experience.
I will compliment the staff at the Hyatt. They were friendly and kind, the lovely guy at breakfast always had my coffee ready for me as I walked in and they always arranged a table for all of us together at breakfast.
The rooms are clean, good food and friendly staff. I would stay again, if I had to, but but they need to sort out the reservation system as it is really impacting their customers and staff.

The customer service horrible
I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hyatt Place London City East! The location is fantastic - right in the heart of a vibrant neighborhood with easy access to public transport. The rooms were spotlessly clean, modern, and very comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was warm and inviting. Great value for money and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London. I will definitely be returning!
For years, I’ve usually stayed at the Hotel Motel One nearby, but this time, as the rates were slightly more advantageous to me at the Hyatt, I decided to try something new: I went with Hyatt. The customer service was excellent: there had been a situation and they resolved it immediately to my satisfaction—actually, they exceeded my expectations. By contrast to Motel One, Hyatt offered scrambled and fried eggs and other hot options; and the cold cuts, fruit, yogurt, breads, and cereals, were comparable. There’s a fridge in the room, and a Tesco next door. There are also very cute, affordable restaurants a few doors down, and a lot of other options nearby from Pizza Pilgrims, Dishoom in Shoreditch and Turkish and South Asian food a few blocks a way. This Hyatt has a lovely terrace lounge with panoramic views; and some of the rooms, such as mine, had a terrace with a 180 degree view of London. As I had been in two rooms, I can say that this hotel’s rooms have windows onto open spaces (not walls of adjacent buildings) and generally get a lot of natural light. The decor is light, not heavy, and everything is immaculately clean—so clean, in fact, that I didn’t perceive the shower door and banged my head on it (it looked like it was open space). Transportation: a little removed from the center, but in terms of getting to and from airports—only about an hour to Heathrow 2&3 on the Elizabeth Line (Whitechapel), and 1.3 hours from Gatwick on the Thameslink and District Line from Blackfriars. And based on prior experience, it’s about 20-25 minutes to Kings Cross for Eurostar trains. And you’re close to the iconic Tower Bridge. The beds were comfortable: I slept well. London’s expensive, but in this area and general category of hotel, this one punches above its weight. I wanted to, but didn’t, try out the exercise room.
A glass of mediocre red wine at the lounge was 9 GBP per glass (good thing: kept me sober). Breakfast could have had more nuts/seeds, and in my opinion, need not have been so formal: trust people to find their own seats.

Disingenuous guest service personnel, wouldn’t take my Hyatt reward Number though offered breakfast, I accepted, next morning no offer on file; ordered a car by calling front desk, 30 minutes later still no car; never again and don’t bother staying here
Great location 5 minute walk to the tube. Restaurants and bars nearby.
The hotel staff were all lovely Justine on reception was great.
Our room (624) was spotless, and had everything you need for your stay. Nice to have a fridge in the room. We had a drink in the roof top bar which was nice. We had dinner in the Italian restaurant food was delicious, service was quite slow but wasn't an issue for us.
