We were not told that parking was 2 blocks away and cost 20 pounds per day
Breakfast was delivered to the room while we expected table service in a b&b
Food was fair
This was a really nice place in a great location. It is right off the Square in Burton on the water which is a lively place during the daylight hours, but then is quiet at night. There is a lovely park with ariver running through the middle of town. All the tourist shopping and mailing about along with locals with their dogs. It is really a lovely safe city feel. They bring breakfast to your room in the morning from the fish and chip shop below. The breakfast was excellent! What a great place to stay.
Great location if you can manage tons of stairs, great breakfast. Very cute rooms.
You cant beat the location, but, thats about it. Its not the boutique hotel it represents itself as. The amount of scuff marks on the walls was more like a well used train station or a paediatric waiting room not renovated since the 70s. Two sinks, one plug didnt unplug, the other was missing. No parking and nearest parking is 5 minute walk away, not the 2 minutes the hotel says. That may not seem like a lot, but its not honest to lie like that. Parking costs £20 a day, so factor that in. wifi disconnects you approx eight times a day. Smart TV never connects to internet and so not smart, no netflix or youtube etc. Breakfast was delivered to the room on time and warm each day. So in conclusion, the location is great, but the property upkeep is worse than you would see in a hotel you rent by the hour...
Lovely rooms and location
We had a nice visit to area - however it was sold as a hotel- it not - not advised until late by email how to access facility, no reception desk, parking a 7 min walk in the rain away, not visible from road, no lighting on stairs on exit made it unsafe
Absolutely unbeatable location, right on the beautiful high street opposite the river. The suite was lovely and had everything we needed. Comfortable beds and superb breakfast delivered to the room. Room could do with some light maintenance it nothing major. Would definitely stay again.
There's everything you need for a comfortable stay, comfy bed, nice bathroom brilliant service. Breakfast served in your room is unique. There's just a couple of niggles for me, like the shower leaks onto the floor and the curtains could fit better. Staying on the high street does have its noises to contend with especially if the windows are open. Other than that we had a great stay.
Everything was explained and easy to park and get into the property. The room was lovely with everything you needed. I was a little concerned that it was over a fish and chip shop, but couldn’t smell it in the room even though we had the windows open. We stayed in the Dollar room which is on the first floor overlooking the river. Beautiful setting and central to the town. The breakfast was delicious, and arrived at our room on the time I had asked.
No parking very shabby decoration in entrance hall and in rooms shower tray way cracked and blocked and accessibility was poor for someone with poor mobility.
The directions for check in where great. It would have been confusing if there were no communication. Luckily everything was good, so pay attention to the emails.
It was in a great spot, on the street and area where everything was happening, but quiet at night.
Customer service from the owners was great, they were very resonsive, and breakfast was a nice bonus
Lovely room great location
Great location, lovely viee from the room and breakfast was gorgeous 😍
Very comfortable accommodation though it can be a bit too hot at night and not all the windows can be held open. Good service and breakfast. A very convenient village location but parking within walking distance will cost. One of the phone contact details seems to be incorrectin the information guides.
The picture given for this place is somewhat deceiving. It may have been an old bank at one stage but now it's a chip shop. Hard to find if you're driving down High St looking for a building saying Old Bank Rooms. The sign/entrance is in an alley. You then need to go up back stairs to a lock box to get your key. Our room was clean but very small. Would we stay again... sorry but no.
The room was tiny, had to walk sideways past the end of the bed. I'm 6ft 3 and struggled to move in the shower. Room really needs a freshen up, shower leaked in corner, god knows where that was running to. Breakfast was superb, Staff were really helpful and friendly also
Perfect.
Clean accommodation breakfast was excellent .
When we first arrived it was a keysafe system so we were able to check in freely which was good, it also provided a code to enter after 9:30pm as they lock the outside door at this time (although we couldnt see said keysafe for the outer door). As we entered we found it to be a beautiful big room with a very comfortable bed (although we did not like the pillows, fluffy appearance but flat once you lay on them). We had the Rupee suite with the 2 person bath - it was overall very clean and stunning! Lovely shower cubicle but of the evening when we went to run the bath it made a horrendously loud rumbling noise and it vibrated all throughout the bathroom and bedroom - we used the shower head attached to fill the bath instead which took a while as you can imagine - we reported this to them which theyve then passed onto their maintenance. The room is above a chip shop so we could certainly feel the heat rising, very toasty but not so nice in summer! The breakfast system was easy to follow and we ordered our breakfast for 8:30-9am and it arrived at 8:25am so very nice - the food was delicious and provides applejuice/orange jucie option, alongside the tea coffee in the room. We thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience but i wouldnt go as far to say it was worth the price for one overnight stay.
The room is advertised as small but a luxury suite. The reality a small what I would describe as an attic space. Moving around the room was difficult because of the small space. The room smelt of dust, was full of coffee stained grimy walls with cracks and scratches everywhere. The window was rotting and the floors in the bathroom not clean. The hotel is situated above a chip shop and smelt of grease. The information book was covered in dust and coffee stains, sticky and dust to touch! The bathroom has a tiny shower cubicle which you would struggle to fit a child in let alone an adult, it was leaking, paint from the ceiling above was flaking off whilst trying to shower. The temperatures went from freezing to scorching whilst under it. The holder was not secure, shower fell hitting me on the head twice and burning my back on the mixer tap. Door had to be left open to turn around in! The breakfast had to be eaten in room, no table or chairs, so balanced on your lap on the bed, no milk for tea/coffee. No fire instructions in room or hall way no escape route on top floor or fire extinguisher. A disgusting dirty room, very uncomfortable and hot. Caution when booking, I have emailed the company seeking compensation awaiting a reply.
