Our stay at Home2 Suites by Hilton Tampa Westshore Airport was extremely disappointing.
When we checked into our room around 8p.m., we immediately noticed that it was hot. Although the thermostat was set to 64°F, the room temperature remained around 70–71°F, and the air conditioner was clearly not cooling properly. To make matters worse, the room’s telephone was not working, making it difficult to contact the front desk.
When we reached the front desk using our cell phone, we were told that maintenance would look at the air conditioner the following day. We explained that this was not an acceptable solution since we needed a comfortable room that night. The front desk employee insisted that all rooms in Florida are set to 70°F and initially refused to check another room or move us to another room. After approximately 15 minutes of discussion, we suggested she check one of the first-floor rooms near the front desk. She eventually did and confirmed that another room was available with appropriately working A/C
When I went downstairs around 11:00 p.m. to get the new room key, I told the front desk employee that I felt she had been rude and unhelpful during our phone conversation. And that i will report it to her supervisor next day . Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, she accused me of threatening her and told us we had to leave the hotel or she would call the police.
My husband and I were forced to leave the hotel at approximately 11:00 p.m. despite simply requesting a room with a functioning air conditioner and expressing our dissatisfaction with the way we had been treated.
We were planning to stay 5 nights there, but after all I am glad that we left, it was not worth it to spend our money and time for that place.
We expected courteous customer service and a working room, especially from a Hilton property. Instead, we experienced poor customer service, a room with a broken air conditioner and telephone, and were ultimately asked to leave. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had.

The reception and transportation staff were very friendly. They assisted by holding our luggage when we arrived early before our room was available, locating places to dine and transporting us to them. Kudos to Stephanie, Lloyd and Julio.
While the hotel's location was excellent for my needs, and the staff was cordial, I experienced two significant issues that reflect poor management and training.
First, a night auditor called my cell phone at 1:00 AM on Sunday morning to inquire why I had not checked in. I had to explain that I was already in my room (Room 207) and had checked in on Saturday morning. This call was extremely disruptive, especially as I had to be up at 5:00 AM for a half-marathon. Although I reported this incident to the front desk and the Manager on Duty, there was no follow-up.
Second, our room never received housekeeping service during our three-night stay. When I inquired about the protocol, I was told service is provided daily or every other day, yet neither applied to our room. When I brought this to the front desk's attention, the staff member apologized and cited short staffing, but by then we were already checking out.
As a Hilton Honors member, I expected a much higher standard of service.
Location great. Food very good.
