The room was a good size. Large bed. Air-conditioning. Fridge.
The bathroom was grubby.
It was a little way out of town. OK if you have your own transport.
Would I stay here again, no, I would not.
As we were looking to cross the Laos border the property was in a ok location but be aware that there are no taxis or tuk tuks nearby so you will have to walk to find one. Despite our disappointments I did feel sorry for the staff and wherever we spoke to them they tried very hard to help/resolve our problems (even when trying to get more money out of us). I was never once spoken to rudely so that is a positive.
When we arrived at the property to check in there was no one there apart from the cleaner who tried to sell us a room. After telling her I had booked on booking.com she gave me a blank look and just picked up a key and took us to a room. Given she spoke very little English we were sure she had given us the wrong room and went back down to reception. By this point 2 new employees had arrived and were chatting to another group of backpackers. They had also booked on booking.com and there was a lot of confusion as to what rooms we all should have and how much we should pay. Despite what we were quoted on booking.com they wanted 500 bhat for each room. Eventually we agreed on a lesser price but the situation was very uncomfortable.
As for the rooms they are not clean. A couple who were also staying told us they had to sleep in their own bed sheets they had brought as the sheets were so stained. The walls and bathroom felt grubby. There are gaps above the doors and windows so bugs and geckos can easily get in the room.
Don’t be fooled by the OYO name as this hotel just pays for the OYO branding and customer service, something we realised at a later date.
