We had a very pleasant stay at Fairfield by Marriott Tochigi Nikko.

The service was excellent throughout our stay. The staff was very kind, welcoming, and spoke very good English, which made everything easy and comfortable. They were always happy to help.

The room was not very large, but it was designed in a very smart and efficient way. Everything felt comfortable and well organized, and the bed was especially comfortable.

There were also laundry machines available for guests to use, which was very convenient and useful during our trip.

Overall, a very comfortable stay with outstanding service and a warm atmosphere.

Short stay in Nikko, whilst touring Japan.
Pros:

The staff were wonderful, especially as we had to retrieve a mobile phone which was accidentally left on a train.We also used the shuttle bus, and mobile food truck for breakfast (which was exceptional with good food and huge portions)..

It is very quiet due to its rather remote location.

Cons:

It is 30 mins walk from Nikko, and whilst the shuttle bus is great, it only is available early morning and evening. There is a limited bus stop 3-5 mins away, and a taxi cost is about 1400y each way.

There are only limited restaurants closeby, as it is in a very rural location.

Séjour paisible et confortable en pleine nature.
Pros:

L’emplacement est extrêmement paisible, en pleine nature dans les montagnes de Nikko, ce qui permet de vraiment se ressourcer. Après une grosse journée de randonnée, de visites ou de vélo, c’est un vrai plaisir de retrouver une chambre aussi confortable et de bonne qualité.

Au rez-de-chaussée, il y a également un espace détente très agréable avec des canapés, de grandes tables, ainsi qu’un coin où l’on peut profiter gratuitement de thé, café et soupe miso à volonté.

Je recommande fortement cet hôtel. Malgré quelques améliorations possibles concernant la restauration, l’expérience reste très agréable et reposante.

Cons:

Je trouve dommage que, malgré le fait que l’hôtel soit situé un peu à l’écart du centre de Nikko, il n’y ait pas davantage d’options de restauration accessibles à proximité. Le soir, il faut parfois s’aventurer dans des routes très sombres en pleine forêt pour trouver un endroit où manger, et la plupart des restaurants ferment assez tôt, vers 20-21h.
L’hôtel propose bien quelques snacks ou pizzas surgelées, mais il manque selon moi une solution plus conviviale et traditionnelle pour les clients qui ne souhaitent pas sortir loin la nuit.

Concernant le petit déjeuner, un food truck venait le matin devant l’hôtel et proposait un excellent brunch mélangeant cuisine western et japonaise, pour environ 1000 yens seulement. C’était vraiment très bon et je trouve dommage que l’hôtel ne collabore pas officiellement avec cette personne afin de proposer cette formule de manière permanente aux clients.

I liked its location near mountains and countryside.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Nice welcoming space

Cons:

Would have preferred a wider choice of breakfast boxes as I struggle with savoury breakfast.If I knew this was the case I would have exclided breakfast from my booking.

Perfect couple of days in Nikko
Pros:

The staff were very helpful. We arrived early but could check in straight away, great after a long flight from Australia. The beds were so comfy & the view of the mountains from our room was lovely.

Pros:

We had some trouble with our rental car and the hotel staff did everything they could to help us with it. They finally arranged that road assist came to fix our car. Since it would take some time for them yo reach the hotel, they let us go to visit the temples and made sure the car was fixed. Super service!

Very comfortable stay without any issues
Pros:

The staff were very attentive and helpful. The rooms were clean and beds very comfy. The location is slightly away from the main hub of Nikko I would recommend renting a car when staying at this hotel and to see more of Nikko as public transport is fairly limited.

Cons:

The Bento box was very nice although a very authentic Japanese style which may not suit some guests.
