The location and the second room we stayed at was absolutely beautiful and very clean.
We were checked in early and to a room that did not feel clean at all. There were (coffee/drinks) sticky spots on the nights stands and the floor lampshade base. The final straw was when I smelled something (like food) and I picked up the bedsheets and yikes — old bbq, unwashed sheet smell! We were quickly given another room that may have been an upgrade.
We had a fantastic weekend at this hotel and would happily stay here again.
The location is unbeatable, right on Basel’s Market Square, with trams and buses just outside the door and the Rhine river only a three-minute walk away. It’s the perfect base for exploring the city.
What stood out the most was the kindness and professionalism of the staff, both at reception and during breakfast. We were also pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a Junior Suite overlooking the Market Square. The suite, located in a charming little turret, was beautiful and made our stay even more special.
Unlike many Swiss hotels, which are often impeccably clean and efficient but can sometimes feel a little impersonal, this hotel has real character and charm. The interior design has clearly been carefully thought out.
Breakfast was another highlight. The buffet offered an excellent selection of cheeses, cold cuts, smoked salmon, fresh fruit, a variety of breads and jams, as well as several hot dishes. It is served in the beautiful Art Deco-style Bohemia restaurant, which adds to the experience.
We had read a few reviews mentioning noise from the trams for rooms facing the Market Square. Our suite overlooked the square, and honestly, it wasn’t an issue at all. The double-glazed windows are very effective, and we slept perfectly well. The room was also very well insulated against the heat. We stayed during Basel’s extreme heatwave weekend, when temperatures reached around 39°C, yet the room remained comfortable throughout our stay and we never felt uncomfortably hot.
Overall, this hotel offers outstanding value for money, a fantastic location, beautiful design, and exceptional service. A wonderful discovery that we highly recommend.

Hotel was beautiful, nice big rooms, bathrooms were great, amenities (breakfast, spa, loaner "float bags" were awesome. Staff was supper helpful. Perfect location, sites super close walking distance. Would definitely highly recommend and would stay again if in the area.
