I’ve stayed at many beautiful resorts, but this has to be one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had. The service at Fairmont is truly second to none. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Zineb at reception, who checked us in with such kindness and professionalism. She made us feel instantly at home and directed us to the concierge, who booked a full day of activities for us.
Our first night at Paper Moon was amazing. Wiam and Hiba were incredibly welcoming, Wiam went above and beyond to make us feel special, and even took the most Instagram-worthy photos for us. The food was top notch. Breakfasts were equally enjoyable thanks to Oussama, whose energy was so bright and welcoming every morning. Another Oussama kindly gave us a tour of the villas as I’m already planning to return with my family. A special mention to Omar, our favourite bellboy, who consistently went the extra mile, whether it was giving us buggy rides in the evenings, showing us around the villa, or simply making sure we were comfortable. Mohammed was also wonderful, always greeting us with a smile and eager to help. Nassima from the spa was warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The dining experiences were phenomenal. The staff at Beef & Reef and Morimoto even sang happy birthday to my sister, which made the moments extra special. Housekeeping, Hamza and Ibrahim, ensured our room was always spotless and comfortable, and Mohammed from security was always kind and pleasant. A big thank you as well to Fatima Zahra, the duty manager, who clearly leads an exceptional team. It’s the people who truly make this place special. You can tell everyone works with genuine care and love. If you’re considering staying at the Fairmont, don’t think twice. Just book.
Food: 10/10
Accommodation: 10/10
Service: 10/10
Zero complaints.
Positives:
Generally good weather, nice beach
Negatives:
Location-apart from a few other hotels and a poorly maintained golf course you are isolated, about 30 minutes to Agadir, about 45 minutes to the airport
Dining-New York/ London prices but poor service and food, very disappointing. Alternative is to take a 30 minute taxi ride into Agadir, wish we had stayed in Agadir itself.
Service-Lots of nice people but poorly trained and managed, despite lots of 'managers' hovering (but not helping). Senior managers generally invisible and usually 'not available" when there was a problem.
There are so many nice locations to visit for some rest and relaxation, regrettably this is not one of them. Maybe in 10 - 20 years.
The Fairmont is lovely, a Californian feel with Moroccan spice. The SoCal part is the stunning location, the quality of the property, and I’d say some of the Moroccan feel are elements of decor and style, as well as outstanding staff. The service and friendliness is outstanding, nothing is a problem, and I felt genuine warmth from everyone here. Our sea front room was wonderful, great decor, high quality finish, no worn areas, and a very large private balcony with the best views of beach and ocean. We had the most delightful and relaxing break. The pool areas and pools are stunning. Breakfast was included and perfect, the most delightful buffet. I will revue the restaurants separately. A real oasis where the beautiful gardens look and smell wonderful, particularly at the pool where out preferred loungers were between two olive trees for a little shade. The only caveat that wasn’t an issue for us is that Taghazout or Agadir for other dining choices etc are a taxi ride away. Oh, the beach is stunning, on our post breakfast beac walk I liked to joke that I could see Malibu in the distance. Surfers and beautiful beach again are SoCal.
We had a fantastic experience at the Fairmont in Taghazout Bay! We stayed for 10 nights in a sea view room. Very relaxing vibe at this resort with great restaurants, superbly attentive staff and great facilities. In particular, the housekeeping staff and the pool guys were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. We loved a nice long walk along the beach boardwalk after breakfast, followed by an afternoon at the adults pool and then dinner. There is also a great gym with good equipment (this is not made very clear on the website). The four restaurants were all very good indeed and we found them to be resonably priced when compared to UK pricing for similar quality. All in all, a lovely place to go and we will 100% consider returning.
It takes about 30-40 mins to drive from the Airport and the hotel is remote from Taghazout. First impressions were good- plush interior and wonderful views of the ocean.
We arrived at noon and told the room wasn’t ready. Reception took my mobile number and said we would be called when the room wasn’t ready. After 2 hrs 30 I went to Reception and got the key. A complete waste of a day.
The Superior Suite was virtually on the beach and you could hear the waves breaking. It’s a big room with a large double bed easy chair and desk/ chairs. The bathroom also big and luxurious with a separate loo.
The room wasn’t ready cleaned promptly every day and also turned down in the afternoon- wonderful service
There were 5 restaurants- we ate in 3. The food and service were top notch but the prices were very expensive- compared to restaurants outside the facility. The average cost for Paper Moon (Italian) and Beef and Reef(meat and seafood) was £200 for two of us. The wines, which were average quality, were £55-£85 a bottle. The Tapas Bar was slightly less east £150 for the two of us and in our opinion, the best. Whilst we waited for our room on arrival 2 bottles of local beer cost £18
Breakfast was served in Paper Moon and was really good with a wide choice of dishes. I had the best omelettes I can remember eating. Service again was outstanding
We booked an Excursion to Agadir and the cable car, via the Conciege. The cost was £160 for the two of us which I thought was overpriced. Indeed if I had booked through TripAdvisor the cost would have been £58. Having said that, it was exclusive to us with a driver and guide who were brilliant.
Finally despite the overprint the service we received was outstanding. I have never seen so many staff
We've stayed for 5 nights in an ocean view room at Fairmont. The resort looks lovely, well configured and clean. Service is excellent, breakfast and restaurants are very good (we've tried all except for the Italian restaurant).
Our room was spacious and had the most wonderful ocean view. The room had an iron and ironing board, which is a major plus for us. Bathroom was spacious with a bath and a separate shower, dressing gowns, hair dryer and toiletries. The only criticism I have is re the sliding doors between the bedroom and bathroom. They're quite heavy and slide fast, so not if you are not careful you can easily crack your fingers.
Beach bar is fantastic, service was great, including a sunglass cleaning service. Beach is kept very clean there.
We liked the adult pool and the swim up bar so much, we never even made it to the main pool.
Location is a bit far from Agadir, but we walked to Taghazout in an hour on the ocean side walkway, which is nicely done and lit up at night. There are several beach bars and restaurants on the way, in case you want to eat outside the resort.
I would give the resort 4.5 stars, and the only reason I'm not giving 5 is the spa. It's currently being refurbished, so there was no hammam and the steam rooms were not working.
I would definitely return in the future.
We had a great stay at the Fairmont overall. We had a couple of issues which were quickly resolved including a change of room from ground floor to first floor.
On one evening we had a very unsatisfactory experience in the Beef and Reef restaurant with a very long wait for very disappointing food. This was resolved by removing the food from our bill and later in the stay we were given a couple of complimentary dishes.
We preferred the Tapas bar and Italian restaurant above Morimoto (the loud music here must divide opinions) and Beef and Reef. Breakfast was excellent.
Our room was great - spacious with desk space and plentiful sockets and usb ports. Standalone shower and bath in the bathroom. Everything spotlessly clean and the housekeeping staff we met were lovely. There does seem to be an issue with the management of housekeeping, most days our room wasn’t serviced until around 4.30pm which tended to be when we returned to it hoping for a rest. We had a turndown service only a couple of times and not until the second week of our stay. However, there was a very prompt response to clear up a broken bottle.
Room service is very swift and efficient, we ate on our balcony one evening.
We arranged car hire through the concierge, which worked out very well, including extending the hire by a couple of days. I would recommend this - we explored up and down the coast and into the mountains, a lovely experience.
Spa treatments and facilities were very good (although Hammam was unavailable unfortunately). Service at the pools and beach for snacks and drinks was also very good, with very charming and helpful staff. The beach itself is fantastic, very clean, body boards and other surf equipment available to hire at the hotel. Lots to watch from the hotel sunbeds which are in a private area. We had drinks by the fire pit at the beach bar to watch the sunset on several evenings - a lovely spot,
The promenade runs along the beach. Turning left from the hotel you come to a small collection of restaurants which were only open at lunchtime when we visited, maybe different in high season. None serve alcohol. It’s also a very nice walk along the beach.
Turning right from the hotel you pass a number of hotels and a golf course, plenty of benches to stop and watch the world go by. About an hour to walk to Taghazout which has a number of restaurants (no alcohol) and plenty of shopping opportunities. It has a backpacker feel to it and is easy to get a taxi back to the hotel (100 dirham).
We travelled here October half term and had a lovely week in the sunshine. Hotel pools are great and beach just outside - all beautiful and loads of sun beds. The restaurants were all great for dinner - there is very little outside the hotel in walking distance so we were limited to eating at the hotel. But food was nice and service excellent in the evening too.
HOWEVER - the lunch service at beef and reef was terrible. Twice we ate there and both times waited well over an hour for food. The second time we complained and they didn’t charge us. But ours kids were miserable by this point. The service around the poolside is also terrible. If you manage to locate someone to order a drink from you can then expect to wait around 40 mins for your drink to arrive if it turns up at all. For the price of the food and drinks you expect more. Same with food around the poolside - very inconsistent with whether it will arrive within an hour of ordering.
But the rooms were clean and all staff were lovely. Just needs big improvements in daytime service.
Also our room wasn’t ready at 3pm to check in. We had a long day travelling then were made to wait 40 mins to be able to go in our room which was frustrating.
The hotel was great. The location right next to the beach and local village were amazing and made me want to come back. There were many pools catering for everyone, such as an adult only pool with a bar. And a lively, big family pool with a restaurant right next door and popcorn, donuts and other sweet things being sold. There were many different restaurants all serving different cuisines such as, Japanese, Italian, “beef and reef” and tapas. Each one offered amazing unique flavours.
However there were some problems which need to be worked on. Firstly, the rooms were quite slow to be cleaned and room service was also quite slow. The food wasn’t always fresh and orders weren’t always perfectly accurate. The hotel also occasionally failed to help plan things
These problems however, did not stop me from having a wonderful holiday
I visited Fairmont Agadir for a day pass, mainly to test the experience before deciding whether to stay there for my next holiday hoping to avoid the usual disappointment I’ve had with other so-called luxury places in Agadir.
The setting itself is absolutely beautiful. The view is breathtaking, and at first glance, the venue feels every bit as elegant as one would expect from the Fairmont name. Unfortunately, the reality didn’t live up to the surroundings.
Service was acceptable, but the food quality was far below expectations. The meat in the paella was overcooked and of very poor quality, even after asking twice for it to be medium-rare. For a restaurant called Beef & Reef, it’s truly a shame to serve such disappointing meat. To make matters worse, we found a hair in one of the small cakes. The dessert was taken away quietly, and no one came back to apologise or offer any explanation.
It’s such a pity that a venue with this kind of potential and stunning location is managed by careless staff and inattentive managers. Sadly, this experience confirmed what I had hoped to disprove that luxury places in Agadir often fall short of the standards they claim to represent.
Late checking us in ignored on arrival - then no late check out given
Slow service didn’t feel like 5 star
One of the worst hotels we have stayed at
My husband and I stayed for 5 days and it was perfect. Weather was 29 degrees daily although got cooler in the evening
The rooms are large with lovely bathroom. We had a separate rainfall shower along with a stand alone bath. We was on ground floor so the doors opened onto a lovely green area.
The restaurants are some of the best we have eaten at and we live in London and have travelled to a lot of countries.
Our favourite was the Tapas restaurant which we went to twice. The food was amazing, large portions great ambience with the flame heaters and watching the sunset.
We also went to the Japanese restaurant twice which was also of the same standard and the DJ Was great and sushi lovely.
Beef & Reef served amazing lobster and burgers.
The drinks at the hotel are quite expensive cocktails around £13, bottle of prosecco £48. Can of coke £3
They will make cocktails off the menu if you ask.
Breakfast also you can request Eggs royale, eggs benedict or pancakes and they will make for you.
We stayed at the adult only pool & every morning the bar tender placed towels on our sun bed. There is also an outdoor jacuzzi.
We didn't venture outside of the hotel too much, as there's not much around but the hotel offered everything we needed for a relaxing, luxury break.
Highly recommend this hotel.
Tip- there is a cash machine at the hotel as you cannot exchange uk money before you go only once in Morroco.
Jet2 awful, Fairmont exceptional.
*Note - the 5 star rating is based solely on Fairmont. Would be unfair to rate one star overall, which is what I would have given Jet2.
My wife and I spent a week at Fairmont, Taghazout Bay, 28Sep-5Oct, travelling from Manchester. Our first time to Morocco and the first “indulgent escape” we have booked with Jet2 holidays.
Unfortunately our flights both ways were significantly delayed without advanced notice, and our pre-booked seats moved due to an “unexpected change in aircraft”. On the way out we were cooped up on the back row, row 39, directly outside the toilets (disgusting seats), and were not even sat together on the flight back. I asked about this and was told the flight was full, nothing the staff could do, despite us being one of the first to check our bags in at the airport. Far from an indulgent experience flying with Jet2.
Lots of other passengers in a similar position and complaints a-plenty on board. Simply not good enough.
Other than that the holiday was superb.
On arrival it was immediately noticeable how quiet Fairmont was and the staff informed us we were into their low season, which suited us fine!
At times it felt like we had the resort to ourselves and the location is bliss. We preferred the sun loungers by the beach, but there were also plenty available by the spacious pool areas.
The weather was perfect, 28 degrees most days with a refreshing sea breeze. Great for sunbathing and/or gentle walks along the 5km long sandy beach/promenade.
Most of our week was spent at Fairmont, but we did get out to see the sights of nearby Taghazout one evening and had a meal at Windy Bay restaurant - the Octopus tagine was excellent.
Fairmont is amazing though and the stars of the show are the staff who could not have been more attentive, but in a subtle and very unobtrusive way.
The four main restaurants on site are all fantastic.
“Tapa” serves mainly tapas dishes which are large in size and high quality.
“Morimoto”, the Japanese restaurant is very swanky, with a live DJ playing through the evening. The mixed meats/fish skewers signature dish we had was unreal!
“Paper Moon” serves Italian fayre, and the pizzas were among the best I’ve had anywhere in the world.
And on our final night we went for the star of the show “Beef and reef” paella - a veritable feast for two (in truth would have fed four!)
After dinner one evening we spent half an hour in “Nola”, a high end jazz bar with a live four piece playing - a very different and largely pleasant experience. We only left as it became apparent when a few other guests arrived that it is also a cigar bar - a throw back to the 1980s back home in the UK as a cloud of smoke descended on us two non-smokers!
A special mention to Mohamed who served us in Morimoto, and Hamza who looked after us all week on the beach, two of many extremely welcoming and thoroughly lovely staff. Thank you to them, all of the breakfast crew, and others who made our stay so very special.
From speaking to the staff it is much busier peak season (June to September) but we found the serenity of being “out of season” just tranquil.
One watch out to end … alcohol isn’t readily available outside the hotel (nowhere in Tamaraght and only a couple of restaurants in Taghazout), and isn’t cheap at Fairmont. 100 Moroccan Dirham (£8.20) for a 330ml bottle of local Casablanca beer and 120 (£10) for a small glass of local wine.
rarely write reviews, but this one truly deserves it.
My stay at Fairmont Taghazout Bay was exceptional.
Beyond the stunning location and high quality service, what impressed me the most was the sense of safety and calm all around the resort.
The Safety and Security team does an amazing job always present, discreet, and highly professional. You can feel their dedication in every detail.
A special mention to Mohamed Baskar, a friendly and attentive lifeguard who is always ready to help and truly devoted to his work.
The resort is spotless, the pools are beautiful, and the beach is simply perfect. For guests who like to explore outside, there are nice local restaurants nearby where you can enjoy good food at affordable prices.
Big thanks to the entire team, and special appreciation to the Head of Security, whose leadership and professionalism make the atmosphere here feel both safe and welcoming.
Fairmont Taghazout Bay truly deserves its five stars
We had a lovely four night stay. The hotel is beautiful, the pools are lovely and the beach is fantastic.
We rented bikes to cycle to Taghazout, had a surf lesson and relaxed at the beach and the pool.
We had massages in the spa and used the facilities beforehand. Unfortunately the spa pool was broken in the men's area and the hammam was broken in both the men and the women's area. The massages were excellent.
Unfortunately two evenings out of the four we didn't get a turndown service. Also the hairdryer would not stay plugged in to the socket in the hairdryer drawer which was very annoying.
The room was spotlessly clean.
The breakfast was good and as vegans we had plenty of choice.
We had two meals at Paper Moon which were ok. We had high hopes for the second meal as Fabrizio Aceti was visiting the hotel to prepare special food. Unfortunately our starter was a large bowl of chopped artichoke which was very bland and very disappointing.
We had a very good meal in Tapa, they even had a vegan menu!
We listened to jazz in Nola but the second time we went it was too smoky for us to stay.
I think our favourite bar was Juniper and Mustafa who worked there was excellent, so friendly and helpful.
The hotel staff were all very good and the hotel was very good. There was plenty going on and it would have been nice to have something in the room that we could read to find out what was going on where and when!
Terrible service, unclean room, and staff who don’t seem to care. The hotel looks nice in pictures but is poorly maintained and overpriced. Definitely not worth the money, avoid if you’re expecting real five-star quality.
Our stay at Fairmont Taghazhout Bay was exceptional. The manager’s personal attention and the warmth of every staff member made us feel truly special. The hotel is spotless, beautifully run, and has the most wonderfully chilled vibe. Exceptional hospitality, fantastic team, and world-class management — a true credit to the Fairmont ethos. Can’t wait to return!
I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel.
The massage treatment with Fatima was absolutely amazing – one of the best I’ve ever experienced. The staff members, Allal and Sarah, were simply outstanding: warm, attentive, and providing exceptional service that made me feel at home. And the breakfast? Absolutely phenomenal – a perfect way to start each day.
Highly recommended!
Absolutely amazing experience for 3 nights . The breakfast was the only thing for me a little disappointing same menu every single day . But the view from the room the ambiance of entire hotel was beautiful perfect . Special thanks to Mr Hassan who was on duty and gave us a nice welcome at midnight . Every penny was worth if you are looking for a luxury break .
Do not let the brand fool you. Stayed at many top hotels and some American branded however this takes top spot for a knock off hotel. Restaurants in the hotel are overpriced for what it is; I was served parmigiana in the their Italian restaurant which arrived cold, and when questioned if this was made fresh and lied to, I explained the process of how this is made and should take minimum 30-40 minutes not 15 mins after which they said it was made early afternoon that day. The hotel lacks amenities, and real character. Rooms are nice but no point paying top money to sit in them! Also not a single decent restaurant in the entire area. Avoid like the plague in my opinion
