Received a warm welcome from Austin & Rylan on the front desk; both were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them during our stay at The Ray.
The rooms were extremely spacious and very modern and equipped with good quality toiletries; all in plentiful supply. The bed was extremely comfortable. Nespresso coffee machine and capsules were an added bonus. Mini-bar was equipped with plenty of drinks.
Breakfast is in the in-house coffee lounge and was a limited selection but I had a cooked breakfast and it was freshly cooked. I personally do like a limited breakfast menu as it stops you overeating! I really enjoyed a barista style coffee with my breakfast.
The Hotel is perfectly located for all the bars, restaurants and shopping and all within walking distance. The hotel also provides golf buggies to take you to and from the beach. Colin drove us to the beach and he was a delight. You can also use bikes and at no extra charge.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again if we visited the area. Would highly recommend.
Love this hotel!!! Wife mother in law brought our 6 month year old so accommodating!!! Staff is amazing specially at roof top pool
The vibe was amazing. The staff is incredible
The hotel is elegant and at the same time warm and welcoming. Our room was gorgeous. The staff could not be nicer. Special mention goes to Austin and Josh, the adorable pool boys, William, the general manager of the Rosewater Rooftop bar/restaurant, Will, the pool server. Great place! Thanks to all for making our stay special.
I liked the locations proximity to Atlantic Ave. close but not too far. Quiet but not too quiet.great pool / rooftop We had a room with a balcony and the weather was perfect. Staff was very nice and friendly. Very clean rooms
We went end of April 2026
Excellent location, overall a great place to stay.
The food in both the Italian & Japanese restaurants was amazing (particularly the Japanese).
We arrived quite late at night & found the receptionist to be a little surly, maybe she had a bad day. All other interactions with reception staff was excellent.
Also, no room service available.
Location and facilities
Gum could be larger, but was sufficient
My feelings about this hotel: Mixed bag, I have to say. Lovely design & style of rooms and public spaces in the hotel, a very friendly and efficient team at Valet & Stingers, however only some of the receptionists were welcoming, and at the Rooftop Bar & Campi restaurant I really had a very bad service experience (I was ignored for more than 40 minutes, when I wanted to order food, and again 50 minutes, when I wanted to sign the check; ignored by several waiters/waitresses + the check-in manager at the entrance, rushing by and never looking or intentionally looking away, including the one who had come, told me his name and said, he'd be there for me; this, although it was not superbusy; lots of empty tables and seats). The night before I had dinner there, and it was more or less the same feeling: Some seem to think it is "chic" or maybe New York style to never look at potential guests or people at the tables, because they might make you work, and maybe even expect a smile? That afternoon, I also saw others stand up and go and get their checks, too, when they were tired of waiting. I liked the downtown vibe of The Ray, however, my room was so-to-speak in the front yard of one of the St Patrick's Day bars, with a very happy (and noisy crowd celebrating late into the evening). Had I known that the city has St. Patrick's Day activities going on during my stay, I'd probably asked for another room right upon my arrival. The receptionist would have known, I guess, but apparently forgot to "warn" me. My room was also on the same floor as the banquet room (2nd floor), thus most of the time I had to negotiate my way around carts with glasses and other stuff the party folks need. The room as such was big, however housekeeping was a bit lax: No refills of coffee capsules and water on the 2nd day of my stay. And a kind of door in the wall kept fallen into the room. I put my suitcase in front of it, to keep it from falling. The terrace of my room was actually really big, but had only two chairs, a sofa round the corner and a lot of dust. I did not spend much time there. I would have loved to spend more time at the pool, which unfortunately is much too small when the hotel is booked by party people, who sit in the water and drink during the day and dance the night away in the banquet room at night. I could not get a sunbed, and the pool service person was gone for a long time. When he eventually showed up again, he kindly offered to put me on a waiting list. Well, in the end I gave up. So, in a nutshell, I'd say: service at The Ray Hotel could be improved in most areas, and a friendly smile would not hurt. I loved, however, in every respect Akira Back's restaurant. Best service, ever, and delicious sushi. Whereas my experience at the Italian restaurant (Campi ?) was more than underwhelming: After learning that my reservation was not for 2 but for 1 - my cousin had to cancel last minute - I was given a tiny table in a rather dark corner, which was quickly produced from an even more remote corner and which was not set up - no napkins, no light, no olive oil, no plate, no cutlery on the table. Only one chair was produced - also from a corner - whereas the beautifully laid out table for 2, that supposedly had been mine, had I shown up as a couple, remained empty; very impression; the food was good, though. Akira Back I recommended to my foodie-friends in Ft Lauderdale. It's definitely worth the ride.
Location was amazing. Pool was great. Restaurants/cafes were great. Staff was very nice.
nothing, it was great
Extremely disappointing - the photos look great on the website but the room we were in was awful except for the bathroom. First, the vent on the wall which was quite big was covered in thick grey dust so bad we used lysol wipes to clean it ourself it was bordering on black. The wall behind our bed had all these grooves in it also covered in thick dust and chipped wood everywhere. The lobby area was closed except for a small sitting area and the rug was stained as was the couch they have in it. The glass table filthy. Also, the room was small - I mean we have stayed in rooms in NYC and Boston that were larger. No space to put anything. The only positive was the location. We were very excited about staying there and what a complete let down.
Horrendous stay will not be coming back!
The hotel is lovely but we checked out early due to the chaotic, miserable experience caused by (some of) the staff.
Still waiting for a response to my email complaint.
Check-in time is listed as 4:00pm. When I arrived at 4:30, my room was not ready. I was told I would receive a call shortly when it became available. After waiting nearly an hour with no call, I returned to the front desk and was told it was still not ready. My family had dinner reservations, so we left at 6pm when it was still unavailable. Never got a call, but when we returned around 9:30pm, the room was finally ready. But I know it was not ready at least before I left at 6, and I never received the promised call at all.
Additionally, at checkout my elderly parents needed bell service assistance for their luggage, and no staff was available to help when they called, so we had to make multiple trips on our own.
The staff were not very sympathetic to either situation (other than the woman who finally checked me in when I arrived in the evening. But everyone else did not seem to care at all.)
Cool vibe, good location and great rooftop pool and restaurant
Stayed for two nights for a family wedding nearby (ran away from the Aloft where the wedding was). Wonderful hotel. Great ambience. Gwen at the front desk could not do enough for us. She was so helpful and charming. A+ for Gwen and Christina too.
Cocktails and dining were first rate. The staff was well trained and the rooms super clean and luxurious. We will be back!!!
This is the second time we have stayed at The Ray hotel. Sadly, it'll be the last. I had thought that there was hope, however this stay was quite worse. It's just the grave lack of the hotel employee's attention towards their guests. One thing was I had needed to print a couple pages of my important documents. The hotel's business center computer printer wasn't working being out of toner. I had brought this to the front desk's staff. Nothing was ever done. I was told to e-mail them to their front desk, and then someone could print these up. It just never got done. The smaller double queen bed room on the 4th flr. facing north was relatively quiet. The beds while being comfortable enough, the room needs updating. The balcony is fair. Although, it is nearly non manuverable opening the larger patio room door with the smaller space provided. Especially for even two adults. The biggest attraction to this hotel is their location. Also, their closer proximity to the very walkable Del Ray Beach village, and many local restaurants. The beach is a 1/2 hr. walk. Still, prices aren't backed up by their customer service. I suppose my standards are higher than many others here.
