When approaching the hotel you do initially think that it looks a bit sorry from the outside in terms of the paint around the window frames, but once inside it is so different.
We had booked for 1 night including breakfast as a stop over on the way to the west country to break up the drive, also the wife wanted to do some shopping at Clark Village which is about 8 minutes away from Glastonbury.
A warm welcome from Chris who took us to our room and carried my wife's case, we had a room on the 2nd floor road facing, all the rooms are named after singers, we stayed in the Bruce Springsteen room, but there is Bob Marley, Adele, David Bowie, Amy Winehouse etc 8 rooms in total.
In our room was a large super king size bed great view straight down the high street, in the morning you do hear some of the traffic but for us it wasn't that bad.
The room has good black out curtains which are needed as I don't think I've seen a high street so well lit at night it is almost daylight at night lol.
We decided to eat in the night we were there and the menu is made up of Small Plates (Tapas style) with around approx. 20+ dishes, we choses 4 and these were nice and plenty but the food is not Spanish.
A good selection of beers, wines etc.
In the morning we had breakfast, I had the Crown and my wife had a crispy bacon roll, both were very good and it's surprising how many of the general public come in for coffees and breakfast very busy so the crown must have a good reputation with visitors and locals.
Parking is in 2 places, there is a Pay & Display in the high street or there is one behind the pub we parked in the high street.
All in all very welcoming nice room good food and beer.
On a personal note my wife found the bed uncomfortable but I never did not.
Yhe food was nice and room so comfy
Central location, comfortable bed, hot shower, one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had.
Due to the shape of the building, the room we were in, (Bob Marley, which is at the back of the hotel) didn’t have a view out of the window as it faces out on to the roof. This made the room a bit dark. However, it was quiet!
The staff were very friendly and welcoming and ensured we were quickly settled in. Our room was clean, tidy and very comfortable. The evening meal and morning breakfast were really superb - lots of interesting and tasty options for vegetarians. The table service was excellent and dining experience very relaxed.
The access stairs to the rooms might prove difficult for anyone with limited mobility.
Lekkere informele sfeer.
Ontspannen, vriendelijk personeel
I'm from Japan and was traveling alone. I met three members of the hotel staff, and all of them were very kind and welcoming even to a foreign traveler like me, which made me feel very comfortable during my stay.
The room was quite small, but still very comfortable. There was a kettle and a variety of teas provided in the room, which I really appreciated and found very helpful.
No elevator, but a staff will help you to carry your luggage.
Very welcoming staff.
The room had a nice feel to it.
The single mattress was very firm for me.
Also single pain windows, so street noise was loud !
Great location, right in the center of town, easy to walk half a block to the Abbey - super friendly and helpful staff, comfy bed.
my window opened out to a brick wall unfortunately, but I wasn't in the room much so it was only noticeable when waking up in the morning and needing the view of the sky.
Breakfast was good but need to reduce a little of the spicyness. Loved the porridge though.
Nothing as staff were very kind whilst I was there.
I loved the building, the location, the staff, the food, the idea behind each room.
Peaceful location, friendly helpful staff, excellent breakfasts.
A review structure that avoided pushing for extra information!
Central to the town, the staff friendly and welcoming
All fine. Just traditional british breakfast available.
