Ocean Bay Phu Quoc Resort and Spa

During our stay at the hotel, gest Relation Manager Hue truly made a lasting impression. Upon arrival, after a long and exhausting journey, she welcomed us with sincere attention and understanding. She immediately sensed what we needed and made us feel at home right away.

Throughout the rest of our stay, Hue continued to make us feel like special guests. Her kindness is genuine, her professionalism remarkable, and her warm attitude makes her an incredible asset to the hotel. Thanks to her, our stay felt extra special.

A hotel can be beautiful, but it’s people like Hue who make all the difference. We would love to return soon.

The resort was very nice looking, and the stuff were nice. However, two major issues bothered us: the bathroom is half outside- that means an outer wall is made of a wooden fence that does not close the room, leaving some open space. The space is actually so open that birds poo in the tub, which is right below the open part... (and no one bothers to clean the tub). Also, we did not get any fruit in the room, unlike all other hotels we've been to in Vietnam, and in general, the place felt more like a camping place than the luxurious resort it's supposed to be.

Amazing resort, the place is like a paradise beautiful beach and view. The staff was extremely helpful to us and sorted out some issues for us! I definitely recommend.

Breakfast buffet unfortunately my husband caught food poisoning from the uncooked omelette or yoghurt only two things we ate differently and I was ok during our four day stay. Diarrhoea and sickness for 4 days.
A nice place for rest and recovery from a two week holiday in Vietnam any longer in resort would have been bored.
Ate in a few of the local restaurants outside the hotel which were good. Other than that didn’t venture out as we needed a rest.
Service wasn’t great at times told to wait at the pool bar when sitting down whilst they re-arranged tables. Food came out at different times so weren’t able to eat together otherwise food would have been cold. More expensive than the local restaurants. Ate in the hotel for evening meal once wasn’t great for the price considering what we had been eating in Vietnam.
English speaking from the staff wasn’t great the managers were better. Think customer service needs working on.
Trying to get house keeping to clean the toilet when my husband was unwell was a challenge.
No one understood. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel and wouldn’t return think maybe better places to stay on the island.

We stayed a couple of days at this charming resort. The commitment and friendliness of hotel manager Hue and the whole team made our stay unforgettable.

Very nice resort that fits into the nature around very well. Food was also very nice with lots of different options no matter if for breakfast or any other meal. Good place to relax but not the best when wanting to do a lot of sightseeing (which we didn’t wish to do) as you then always have to take a taxi. To the South it takes about 50 minutes, to the North we didn’t try.
Service in the Resort was also good and they also have a Spa.

From the start to the finish of our 4 night stay this hotel is outstanding. The location is right on the beach & we had an ocean view villa so we were steps away from the beach. The villas have an outdoor type bathroom which was unusual but we loved the decor and in keeping with the environment outside. The staff are exceptional and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious and the balcony view was outstanding in the morning. The grounds are kept up-together and it’s stunning.
We didn’t want to leave!! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Nira is absolutely amazing! We saw her twice during our stay at Grand Ocean Bay and can not recommend her enough! Amazing massage and spa experience!

Lack of staff and shortage of food
Bo clear answer from staff lack of cleaning inthe rooms.
They do not care. About guest also there is difference in treating guest compared to others.

We have stayed here for 7 nights and what an amazing hotel. The staff are a credit to the hotel and themselves, always smiling and happy to help. Our room was a beach side villa which was set within the tropical gardens directly beside the beach. As I type I am sitting on our veranda,watching the sun set over the sea.
Breakfast was brilliant loads of choice. We took a spa bolt on which was so nice, highly recommend. The ladies working in the Spa were welcoming, helped with appointments and were fantastic at every therapy/ massage we received.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend here, can't fault anything about it

This was a very welcome and wonderful surprise on a small island in Vietnam. Our beautiful villa was right on the beach with easy access to lounge chairs. Most of all, it was very, very affordable. A friend and I stayed here. We each had a spa treatment every day. Also a lovely breakfast was included. Couldn’t have been a better value.

We loved our room, and the semi outdoor nature style bathroom was lovely. The dining options were very expensive and small portions so we only ate there once. The view from the over water restaurant was really amazing.
The cleaning staff and wait staff were all lovely. The managers were always awkwardly walking around introducing themselves and telling everyone they were the manager. Lacking in people skills. Talking ‘at’ you instead of ‘to’ you.

Man ist in der Natur und trotzdem sehr luxuriös untergebracht. Die Anlage ist direkt in einen Tropenwald. Wer Insekten nicht mag sollte dies berücksichtigen bei der Wahl des Hotels. Die Bäder sind offen und in die Natur integriert. Ich fand es toll. Zimmer sind etwas durch Witterung gezeichnet aber alles gut. Moskitonetz und Klimaanlage waren sehr hilfreich. Sehr gepflegt und für Alleinreisende geeignet. Auf mich wurde besonders geachtet. Frühstück vielseitig und die Anlage zum Relaxen toll. Außserhalb gibt es gute Restaurants aber auch das Restaurant im Resort ist sehr gut. Wellness, Romantik ist alles drin wenn man möchte. Transfer vom/ zum Airport gut organisiert. Das Peraonal sehr aufmerksam und hilfsbereit. Ich habe mich sehr wohlgefühlt in meiner Auszeit von 3 Nächten nach einem Business Trip.

Nice hotel and spa . Special shout out to the therapists who are all amazing.
Beach access is a bonus. Only gripe is that I wish the hotel food was slightly better but don’t let that stop you from staying here.

Top notch staff. We loved every bit of our time with not only the locals, but the different towns. The hotel was the best and the service was the BEST!

We had a really great time in this place. The Staff is amazing and the bungalow option makes you feel immersed in nature. The Breakfast is huge, and the beach and the swimming pool are perfect for the best sunset ever! We Loved it!

The photos of the property are accurate - it’s beautiful. However, the service is poor and the report (opened in 2021!) is not a 5 star.

1) Housekeeping broke our bungalow door and we came back to discover that our room had been left unsecured for three hours with our valuables n secured. Why wasn’t a repair person alerted at the time of damage as opposed to us having to report it? A whole new lock mechanism needed to be installed. Concerning for overall security of belongings.

2) Laundry was promised by a particular time and was not delivered and we had to ask three times. At one point when it was supposed to be delivered a man showed up with a towel and a purple drink for my friend - but no laundry. What people have commented upon with regards to communication problems is true.

3) The beach is dirty. We found a fishing lure with many sharp pieces just washed up in the beach and encountered multiple pieces of plastic floating while we tried to swim. I also saw a stray dog poop on the private beach.

4) The restaurant view is stunning but the food is not of five star quality and agreed with other reviews that it is very expensive for the price.

5) The beach activities are an extra fee -
kayaks must be rented.

6)) The response to all of this when reported to the desk was that they are very sorry, will speak to the staff - no compensation for the fact that our room was left wide open. Very interesting as another reviewer said that they did get a partial refund for their concerns.

If safety and value for dollar are not a concern for you, perhaps this is a good resort to visit

1.There was green algae in both the bath tub and the shower recess.

2. The shade cloth in the image was there to stop people from being able to see into the bathroom.It had fallen down and when I tried to put it back up it started to fall apart because it was rotted.

3. The rear of the room air conditioner was directly over the bathroom vanity.You can see in the image the build up of condensation which dripped down on to the vanity filling the wooden shelf below.You will see the image with the toothpaste which is laying in a pool of water and along side it is the Phillips hairdryer in the same position it was in when we arrived to our room.It was also subject to the condensation dripping from the air conditioner which made it unsafe to use not to mention the bare wires that you can see in the image.

4, The wooden Venetian blinds were broken which hindered privacy.

5. The bedroom curtains had cigarette burns and mould on them and were filthy dirty the mosquito net was torn filthy dirty, and rotten and if we tried to use it it would just rip.

6. The base of the toilet was absolutely disgusting.

7. The room was so disappointing.We had looked forward to staying here for months and had booked well in advance.After 2 nights we were so depressed we decided we would rather give up the further 3 nights that we had paid for, than stay any longer.

8. On a positive note, the food at the beach front Restaurant was extremely good, and the staff were very attentive.The hotel did refund one nights accommodation.
