The room was incredible and the staff were so friendly and professional.
I liked everything.
The location was good for a halfway point of our trip.
The man at the front desk was not friendly at all. The pillows were atrocious! They felt like foam was cut up and thrown inside a pillowcase. The sofa material was uncomfortable and there was a burnlike mark on the left side of the seat cushion. There were small dots of mold on the shower floor. The breakfast offering was poor and at 0940, there was no more waffle batter and none was made. We had stayed the week prior at a Hilton site and it was lovely. I just wanted to try Home 2, so we didn't stay there on the way home. Never again.
Near restaurants and shops
Good breakfast
Location was great, near restaurants and bars, and retail shops
Room was a large size
Pillows were the worst
Breakfast was just fair, did not like the coffee
Room was somewhat clean
The room was very spacious and well-equipped. We loved all the sitting areas and the pool. Great breakfast. Location was perfect for us to access everything we wanted to do in the Blacksburg area.
The receptionist when I checked in was very unfriendly. She didn't give me any information about the amenities, etc. Check in was efficient but not welcoming. I never saw her again after that and the rest of the staff was very helpful and friendly. I was afraid her attitude would be the norm for our stay, but thankfully it was not.
Great breakfast with lots of choices. Loved the kitchenette in our room. Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows.
The hotel itself is very nice. But we asked for a luggage cart as we travel with 4 children under 6 and we live out of our vehicle for work so we have a lot of luggage. The lady at the front desk told us there were none because "people must be hoarding them in their rooms", This would normally be understandable, except that I can literally see right behind the counter in the officr that the hotel staff was using a luggage cart to store cleaning supplies.
As a result we had to take like 5 or 6 trips up and down from the 3rd floor.
Room was extremely roomy and comfortable. Hotel was clean and nice breakfast.
We were on the first floor.
We eye checked into our room and when we entered our room, there was dirty bedding on our bed, trash in the sink and the room stunk. I spoke to the front desk staff about comping the room. They said I needed to speak with Booking.com then you would contact to hotel.
Gotta give a shout out to this hotel for their school spirit. We came for graduation week. The rates at these chain hotels skyrocket to 4x the regular rates. Picture paying Four Season prices for a standard room at a residential type hotel. The big plus was the full kitchen: full size fridge, dishwasher, real kitchen utensils and a full sink.
The bad: sofa bed sheets had not been changed for decades. This brand hotel doesn't clean rooms every day, it's every other day.... Or in the case of the sofa bed... well decades. We had a guest stay with us on our last of the 4 days. The sheets on the bed felt weird almost like a thin sheet of nylon. Again, this is not the Four Seasons but....
Staff were super friendly. We requested new towels and sheets(for the sofa bed) when we saw the staff in the hallway. This brand serves a complimentary breakfast. Most people seemed to enjoy it. I like that they have hot coffee and tea available in the lobby and it's free.
Four stars is generous but it's because of school spirit and lots of available amenities.
While the place isn't perfect, it's great in the areas that are most important to me. The rooms are large, very clean and, being "suites," have sitting areas (with curtain you can pull across for privacy), comfortable bed in pull-out sofa, and mini-kitchens. Wished the windows opened for fresh air, but that's hard to find in a hotel. The a/c worked fine. The location is terrific. There's a short nature trail/loop right there. It's adjacent to shopping centers so you can walk in minutes to multiple restaurants, a Kroger, and other businesses. It's walkable to beautiful residential streets and about a mile from downtown. If you choose an even-numbered room, you'll look out the front of the hotel onto greenery across the street. If you are in an odd-numbered room, you look out over the businesses in the shopping area. The breakfast was fair at best. (A 5-minute walk away is the "Eggs Up Grill" with an extensive breakfast and lunch menu (loved the pancakes with fresh berries)). Staff was friendly and mostly competent. The pool looked fine (typically small) -- wished it was outdoors. Several places to sit outside where you could eat al fresco.
It was fine for a one night stay. A bit overpriced because of graduation weekend. Had to pay 40 dollars to check
In early meanwhile I was told if there was a clean room I could check in early when I called a few days prior to arrival
The bathroom in the lobby was dirty, doesn’t flush. My husband complained about the men’s bathroom as well
The friendliness of the entire staff. We enjoyed the breakfast and the variety of items presented for breakfast each day (not the exact same every day). The ladies serving the breakfast were super friendly even after answering the same question multiple times. The front desk staff were very kind and welcoming. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Virginia Tech graduations with thoughtful items available for the families, even small packs of tissues!
Only slightly disappointed in the room cleanliness. There was a dirty coffee mug and an empty packet on top of the refrigerator. Nothing serious.
