My partner and I were visiting Houston from Portland, Oregon for only a few days to bury his mother who grew up in Houston. While the occasion itself was sad, I cannot say enough how wonderful the folks at this hotel made us feel. Upon arrival, they had left a handwritten letter and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers which we ended up leaving at my partner’s mom’s grave sight. From the moment we walked in, up until the moment we left the hotel, we were in awe of the thoughtfulness, care and friendliness that staff extended to us. We would like to give an extra huge “thank you” to Jenny and Brian for making the experience so special and beautiful.
The atmosphere is lovely - the food is inedible and service is untrained slow and lousy - super disappointing - owner and management must address -
This hotel was amazing ! Everyone there was great and gave me lots of recommendations for my one night in Houston. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Houston
La_Colombe_d_Or_hotel is the ultimate place to stay in Houston. Everyone greeted me like family. My bungalow was amazing and I didn’t have to do anything at check-in… my suitcase was taken care of and I had a tour to make sure I knew where everything was from the pool to the fitness room and not to mention the “munchie” room!! Every detail was perfect! Best furnishings and the bed was so comfortable. I can’t wait to go back! It is in the best neighborhood! My grand boys loved visiting with me.
My wife and I just returned from the most incredible anniversary stay! From the moment we arrived until checkout, every detail exceeded our expectations.
Our pre-arrangements surpassed what we had hoped for, setting the stage for a truly memorable visit. Salem at valet provided warm, attentive service that made us feel genuinely welcomed. This exceptional customer service continued throughout our stay, right through to checkout at the front desk.
The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. The art displayed throughout the tower adds such sophisticated elegance, and our room was simply immaculate, beautifully appointed, and thoughtfully designed. The ambience throughout was perfect, from the lively, vibrant atmosphere in the lobby to the quiet, peaceful sanctuary of our room.
The Montrose location is perfect, providing wonderful walking opportunities to excellent Michelin Star and James Beard restaurants. The nearby Menil Collection adds even more to the experience, making this the ideal destination for a special occasion.
This hotel transformed our anniversary into an extraordinary experience we will treasure forever. We cannot wait to return!
Highest recommendation from two very happy guests!
It is a beautiful hotel. I was put in their bungalows, which is nice, but definitely a bit of a hike from the front entrance. Which was no issue until check out. I requested luggage service from the concierge. After waiting about 30 minutes, I went to call back, but my room phone was not working anymore, so I had to pull my luggage down the sidewalk along the street to the front of the hotel to get my vehicle. I was not easy. When I got there, the valet/bellman apologized that the concierge sent them to the wrong bungalow. Other than that experience, it was a lovely stay.
The hotel is very pretty and the overall ambience is fantastic. The central amenities are excellent, with a restaurant, cool bar and club room with complimentary snacks and drinks. Also the shared facilities with the “Residence” (rooftop pool, fitness center and recreation spaces) really added to the value of our stay.
There were numerous quirks to our room that were a little bothersome. The bed and pillows were not comfortable for us. There was no upright seating (small table or desk) in our suite. The coffee cups were undersized so we had to manage the spillage every time we made a cup of coffee(we did love the Nespresso coffee maker which we use at home, just needed larger cups). Also, the deadbolt lock on the room door did not work(and had never worked based on the misalignment of the striker and the plate) which made my wife nervous. For a nightly rate of over $500, these issues stood out to us.
One of my favorite boutique hotels. I love the paradox of the old mansion with the upscale modernity of the Tower. This hotel also features one of my favorite bars. Small and quaint with a green-dominant color scheme that sets up a perfect bar mood. But, there's been a fair bit of staff turnover at the hotel, particularly the bar. On my last visit (December 2025) there was only one bartender, and he was often AWOL to the chagrin of many a patron (including me). I am told there is an ongoing talent search, so perhaps the issue will be remedied in the near future. Otherwise, the staff is generally very professional and service-oriented.
Very comfy stay overall. In the tower the whole building made random squeaking noises which were annoying but over all very nice hotel.
Staff were so friendly & accommodating. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

I love this hotel, and will give it another shot. They can be overwhelmed during wedding season. Maybe too many events happening at the same time in the Saturday I arrived- two weddings and an art exhibit/concert. Super lovely, but my room was over an hour and a half late getting ready; and I had to really plead to get in at that time. And things a pricey hotel. Everything else about this hotel is great, and usually spot on- maybe just caught them at a bad time.
