After an eight hour day on the road I checked into what I anticipated would be a modern, comfortable hotel. The lobby and guest services were lovely, but I quickly discovered a filthy environment. My room showed signs of wear and tear, and dirt. There were stains in the shower, on the laminate floor, and the bedding.
The common area was unkempt too. At this point I decided to just try to sleep and leave as soon as I could. I departed at 2:30 a.m. Thank goodness it was quiet.
Neither IHG, or the hotel, would honor a request for a refund. Buyer beware. Photos attached. The value of this Hay, KS hotel is awful

My room didn’t look clean- ex stained mattress, dirty shower, trash in the bathroom that wasn’t mine. The bed was made and it looked like someone came in and tried to quickly clean but missed the shower, trash, and the stain down the side of mattress.
Booked a double queen room almost 3 months in advance. Once I showed up to hotel, completed check in and got to my assigned room. It was a single king bed only room. Went to ask about this at the front desk, showed my reservation to the front desk, and was told since I booked 3rd party, my reservation of the double queen room is not promised and their is nothing they can or will do since this was a special event weekend and already booked full. I was told when the booking comes in 3rd party and not called them directly, a standard single bed kind room is assigned but not what you booked since it was 3rd party booking. But, I paid full price for the double queen room on a special high price weekend for hotels. No help from the hotel or even working with my 3rd party booking. Talked to other hotels locally that other family members are staying at for this special OVERLY HIGH PRICED weekend about this same issue and all said I should be in the double queen bed room I reserved and not in the room I was given. Very disappointed and lack of caring for the price I paid and it’s not correct!! Will not book or stay here again.

Easy to get to and quiet

Breakfast was good. The usual eggs, sausage and potatoes, as well as hot and cold cereal.
Beds were extremely soft. Could hear a lot of traffic noise. Bathroom floor in Room 321 was appalling. Tile floor with over half of the grout missing. Tiles were moving because some weren’t locked in place by grout. Does no one check on the rooms or couldn’t the housekeeping staff report this? Or does hotel not care? Couldn’t get the shade up. Will not be staying there again.
Staff was great. Bed was very comfortable. I woke up to the smell of breakfast and it was just right to start my day.
The corner of my room, by the air conditioner needed to be swept. Lots of dirt in the corner.

The bed was nice and the room and facility was clean. The staff was also freindly and helpful.
The room was too small for us and made it difficult to manage our luggage etc. It felt very cramped a and claustrophobic for our taste. Others might be fine with it depending on personal preferences.
We were taking a family vacation passing through Hays Kansas. My husband booked a room for us through booking.com at this Avid hotel in the afternoon of the night we needed to stay. I immediately got a phone call from the hotel saying that they did not have any queen bed rooms and if that was what we wanted they could not accommodate it. I thought, great communication, thanked her and asked her to cancel. She sent me a cancellation email and I thought that was that. We get home and I notice a charge on my cc from booking.com. When I called them and explained they blamed it on the hotel. When I called the hotel they blamed it on booking.com. When I sent the manager a copy of the cancellation email from their hotel she then said that somehow the room got rebooked after I canceled it. She then stopped communicating with me and has not responded to my emails or calls since. I have just about given up getting a refund of my money. Be very wary of booking at this hotel and using booking.com in general (they are also hard to work with).
Breakfast was great. The gal working breakfast did a fabulous job of keeping things stocked and clean. She was extremely friendly and attentive.
Bed was comfortable - mattress, sheets, and pillows were all comfortable.
The shower was filthy - mildew and scum. The floor was filthy. My white socks were black after walking on the floor for only a couple of minutes. The walls were extremely thin. I thought people were coming into my room all night as there were constant noises.
Great overnight stay on our way passing through Hays. Lots of food options in the area. Clean, safe, well appointed, menamilist type hotel. Breakfast was sufficient but not outstanding. Had your typical fare of eggs, sausage, potatoes, muffins, bagels and yogurt. Did not see fresh fruit. Room was clean and quiet. Would stay here again.
