Great location, breakfast was delicious, the Oceans restaurant on the property has great drinks and a good food selection right on the beach. Cute boutique hotel design but not so small that it doesn’t have what you need in a nice hotel. Strongly recommend.
Nothing, it was great.
This hotel seats in the best part of the beach, with the north beach is the best place to see the sunset. Room was spacious comfortable with a beautiful view on the beach and the little garden. I liked the presence of the minibar, the staff on the beach is very attentive to customers and the service is fast.
A bit of maintenance is needed for the wood in the bathroom area but we are talking about details.
The bed is extremely comfortable. The AC was a bit loud but it definitely did work. It can make the room extremely cold. The OceanVS is associated with the hotel. The service at the Beach Club is outstanding. No fee to be at the club. And there didn’t seem to be a minimum charge for hotel guests. U can reserve to be on a day bed which is nice as opposed to a lounge chair. It’s an expensive hotel to be at but I believe it’s worth it. I just kinda wish it didn’t allow children. But other than that, it was a fantastic place.
It’s a bit far from Hidalgo but it’s fairly quiet in the evenings.
Location location location!!!
Honestly don’t think my stay could have been any better.
The location. Also far enough away from the party scene to not hear loud music all night. Private pool. Private cabanas. Private beach. Walking distance to food, bars, shopping and stores.
The breakfast was just ok. But it did the job.
The property is a small, boutique hotel on a sandy tropical beach. The room was large and beautiful.
The staff at the desk were courteous and helpful.
1) The Beach: what I didn’t anticipate by looking at the beautiful photos of playa norte, is that by 11 am the whole sea in front of the beach is invaded by hundreds speedboats, which will moor in line and completely obstructing the view. This means you cannot swim, as in the lagoon between the beach and the line of boats the water gets to your knees. Moreover, each boat will have their own raggaeton music pumping up non-stop until subset. On Fri/Sat and Sun the beach will also play high volume music, so the whole place is just LOUD and NOISY. There are hundreds (if not thousands)of people on the beach and water. I honestly wanted to leave as this was not the idyllic experience I wanted and had to spend > $200 to escape to the natural park of Isla Contoy (twice=$400) to get peace
2) Staff at restaurants/breakfast and Breakfast. I paid >$500/night for this hotel and I am very well travelled (been 7 times in the Maldives). This was the most disappointing breakfast I have had in a “luxury” hotel. First of all all staff behaved like corporate security guards: no smiles, no replies to me “hola/hello” and every time I asked for something I was met with a grunt/hostility almost. I felt unwelcome every day. Moreover: there’s no choice of juice. Either you like the watered watermelon juice they give you in a tiny glass, or you have to pay for, let’s say, orange juice. I never had to pay for an orange juice in my life, which is ridiculous considering the $500/night fee. I asked for an espresso and again this was considered extra. I was given only 1 toast sliced in half and I had to ask over and over for more, which arrived 30 min later and with the usual angry face. Yogurt is one minuscule cup TO SHARE!
I complained to the desk person and one manager came to see me the day I left and offered a lunch.
Location was exceptional.
Nos encantó! Exquisitas instalaciones!
Property was excellent. Clean. Great location
We were in #8. The mattress sucked. No box springs, mattress is placed on top of a concrete pad.
Location, room was big
Fan was broken, toilet was broken. Music from beach club was too loud we couldnt sleep
Staff wasn’t nice
My experience at Casa del Jaguar was far from what anyone would expect from a hotel that markets itself as “luxury.”
From the moment I arrived for check-in, the attitude from one of the female staff members was cold, dismissive, and noticeably unwelcoming. There was no warmth, attentiveness, or genuine hospitality whatsoever. Instead of feeling valued as a guest, I felt like I was inconveniencing the staff simply by being there.
What made the situation even more disappointing was that I brought this issue directly to the hotel manager, expecting at least some level of concern or professionalism. Unfortunately, my comments seemed to be completely ignored. There was no meaningful response, no real interest in understanding the situation, and no effort to make things right. That, more than anything, reflected a serious lack of customer care and hospitality culture.
I travel frequently and understand that small operational mistakes can happen anywhere. However, indifference toward guests is something entirely different — especially at a property positioning itself as a high-end boutique hotel.
It’s unfortunate because the hotel itself has potential, but the poor service and lack of professionalism during check-in completely overshadowed the experience.
Location right on the beach was absolutely stunning
You get access to the beach club and guaranteed a bed
Rooms spacious and lovely
Nice swimming pool looking on to the beach for when you want a change from the sea
Loved it all
