The rooms are beautifully appointed with thoughtful details throughout. We love the lobby and the bar area. It’s so cheerful. And the location could be more ideal.
The bed was so comfortable and the pillows were so wonderful that I actually asked where I could buy them. I love so much.

Just an example of the great service: we forgot to take the do not disturb sign off the door when we left for the day. We didn’t return until 3:30pm and we needed the room serviced. I called the front desk and spoke to Logan and apologized for leaving the do not disturb sign out and asked if the room could be taken care of or if it was too late. He said it would be taken care of right away and five minutes later four people showed up and within five minutes had everything taken care of. We thought that was pretty amazing and maybe you do too.

Carl was EXCELLENT. Hotel was clean. Beds were not as comfortable as might have thought. We’ve stayed here, The Spectator and The French Quarter. Great time for another anniversary getaway.

My husband and I were very pleased with all of the amenities offered at The Loutrel and starting with the beautiful lobby we enjoyed are stay very much. I would also say the personnel were very friendly and attentive.

What a fabulous hotel! Between the excellent service across teams (front desk, bar, housekeeping, mini bar attendants) I don't think I've stayed at a better hotel in a long time. The complimentary snacks, lobby water and tea station and minibar was such a nice touch and the happy hour on the rooftop was fun! Completely walkable to downtown shops and restaurants. The room itself was spotless, bathroom was spacious, the beds were comfortable and we heard minimal if any street noise. I would absolutely stay here again on another visit to Charleston.

Wonderful stay at the Loutrel in Charleston

The Loutrel is a high-touch but casual European-style hotel with a lot going for its small size (less than 60 rooms, which all have comfortable beds and are quiet). It differs from other hotels in Charleston in a number of ways: a light, airy lobby that also functions as reception, breakfast space and happy hour space, high-ceilinged rooms, boutique touches, friendly staff. A shout-out to Joe and Rafael at the front door, Bridget and Amanda in sales and events, all the reception staff (Logsn especially), and a superb bartender as well (sorry I cannot remember her name). Keep it up!

I booked the Loutrel based soley on the 5-Star reviews the hotel has, based on other people's experience. Thanks to you all for posting your reviews and making it easy for me.
I only have great things to say about The Loutrel.

Great location, thoughtful, attentive staff and wonderful accommodations. Special thanks to Carl, the extremely friendly and helpful valet. From greeting us at arrival, to haring his knowledge of the area, to our too soon departure, Carl was there with a warm greeting and smile.

We tried this hotel for the first time and it was new & modern inside, Our room decor was nice but sadly it looked over construction, and they started the bulldozer early in the morning. We wish they had been told this was going on. Our room windows did not open for fresh air, no hooks for hanging, clothes and they could use some drawers for clothes. Finally, the shower has hardly any water pressure which was disappointing.
There was a nice continental breakfast in the morning and a little happy hour in the afternoon. Perhaps with some improvements we will try another time.

My wife and I stayed at The Loutrel for our anniversary, and honestly, it's hard to find anything to complain about. This place just gets it right. From the minute we pulled up, the staff made us feel like we were welcome, not in that rehearsed, corporate hospitality kind of way, but genuinely warm. Special shoutout to Carl the valet, who was a standout from start to finish. He took great care of the car, but what really made an impression was that he greeted us by name every time we came back in and had genuinely great recommendations for getting around Charleston. Little things like that stick with you.

The room was spacious and well done, the kind of space where you walk in and just go "okay, yeah, this is it." Comfortable, beautiful, nothing to nitpick. The rooftop is worth your time. It's big, has a great vibe, and is the kind of spot where you sit down for one drink and end up staying a while. No complaints there. Location-wise, you really can't do better in Charleston. We were walking distance from great food, great bars, and some of the most beautiful streets in the South. We barely touched the car after Carl parked it.

If you're heading to Charleston for an anniversary, a birthday, or really any special occasion, and especially if you're going as a couple, The Loutrel is the move. We'll be back.

My wife and I stayed here for a three day weekend. It is a great place to stay….small and uncrowded yet with all the amenities of a larger hotel. A+ all around.

My husband and I stayed at your fabulous hotel this past weekend for his birthday and had a wonderful time! The Loutrel Hotel is such a beautiful, pleasant hotel with such charm! It’s very clean and nicely decorated. All of the staff were so kind and friendly as well as helpful, including the housekeeping staff. They were so accommodating. We really enjoyed all the complementary delicious snacks, beverages, and rooftop happy hour each day. They also offered a complementary European breakfast, which was more than we expected and quite good. They had complementary bikes available for the guests to used. Carl was so very pleasant and nice to get out bikes for us and adjust the seats each time we wanted to use them. He was always available and ready to help when we needed him. The reception desk attendants and concierge were wonderful also. The concierge was so kind to deliver a bottle of sparkling wine to our room for my husband’s birthday; a very nice and pleasant surprise! We loved our stay and will definitely return to the Loutrel the next time we visit Charleston. Thanks to all the staff for making our weekend such an enjoyable one!

Terrific stay at the loutrel. Five star service. A breakfast worth waking up for and a staff that could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Great bar, clean rooms. An all around 10/10.

Everything was great! Staff were super nice, especially Carl the valet. Breakfast was tasty and constant snacks were appreciated. Room was clean, comfortable and well-appointed.

The location was great for easy access to the water and shopping— perfect location to walk around Charleston. The rooms were lovely and the amenities included in your stay were a nice convenience. We took advantage of the rooftop terrace every night and had an evening cocktail before bed.

We are repeat visitors to the Loutrel, it is our favorite. We have been coming to Charleston for years and have stayed at several hotels, The Loutrel is by far the best. The ambiance, vibe, location…perfection. The staff is always attentive and go beyond to help make your stay memorable. Carl is always willing to help, he goes above and beyond!
The breakfast is always delicious and the finest hour is a treat!
