When you’ve been in the car traveling, the first thing you want is a great night of sleep. That’s what we found at the Hampton after pulling off of 81 after hours of traveling. The front desk was warm and welcoming, the room was exceptionally clean, the bed extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was very modern. The only concern I ever had was a barking dog which the front desk addressed immediately. Breakfast was nice and there was a wide selection. The area was clean and well maintained. A great stop for certain. Special shout out to Rachel who was incredible to deal with. She is the type of employee you want to interact with at the front desk!
I stayed here on a recent visit to the area to ride the VCT and to attend a performance at the Barter Theater. Great location, clean rooms, and comfy beds. Unfortunately, no one was present at the front desk when I arrived. No big deal, as a Hilton Diamond member, I used digital check-in and accessed my room. I went out later that evening and still no one was at the desk; I returned a couple hours later and the same thing. Upon checking out the next morning, I walked by the front desk again to find it empty?? I travel frequently and stay at multiple Hamptons every year; this was a first for me.
It is unfortunate that Im giving my favorite Hotel a one star review. Let me explain.
My husband and I always book this hotel when visiting Abingdon as we enjoy the Barter Theatre and the Damascus trail.
I made a mistake when booking this time and when we received the confirmation email my husband noticed it was for March 29 instead of 28. We thought it would be fine to make a call and it could be switched.
After explaining the mistake that was made, he was told in no way could they do this on a non-refundable booking. 😲
We were shocked and hurt to be treated in this way. It was a simple mistake that could have been so easily resolved.
How could you call this customer service.
We are so sad to leave Hilton as we have always used them and have been extremely happy.
We really dont have a choice because we cannot accept treating customers in this manner. I have always highly recommended Hilton Hotels to family and friends but will no longer be able to.
My only hope is that someone will see this that can change this policy for future customers that may make the same mistake that I did when 'clicking' on the dates for a stay. I would like to recommend that when a customer makes a mistake there be a one time change allowance.

Recent renovations. I've stayed here several times and it's always 5 stars! Sparkling clean! The staff is super friendly, and ALWAYS acknowledges me as a diamond member. There is a little fenced-in dog walking area that is also sparkling clean.
Don't forget to get the BELMONT PEANUTS as your snack. You'll never eat a Planter's peanut again.
This is one of the best, if not the best, Hampton Inns we have ever stayed in. The staff is wonderful. The rooms are amazingly designed, clean and spacious.
The breakfast was well above average, and the breakfast area attendant was excellent.
