Pros:

Room ok but didn’t match the photos; reality was worse. Hotel pretty run down, smelt quite bad throughout and breakfast very basic. Good location near to train station, so easy to get into Cardiff

Room was very spacious.
Bath was a bonus.
Parking next door in NCP carpark was only £7.95 for 24 hours.
Literally on Newport high street next to all the shops.
Only one complaint, the breakfast could have been hotter

Sheets hadn't been changed the whole time i was there. But everything else was good and clean. Didn't appreciate someone settling the smoke alarm off at 4am. good

Never in a million years will I stay here again
Pros:

I suggest avoiding that hotel if anyone needs to stay over in this area for a few reasons.

1.
It's well situated if you're going for a night out, there are clubs and bars just around the corner which start at 10:30ish and you get the low base sounds even up on the third floor.
2.
The shower is as powerful as a hose pipe if someone kinks it, but this is good considering the shower drains incredibly slowly, turning into a foot spa after a couple of minutes.
3.
The room cleanliness is somewhat to be desired with hairs on the pillows, and in the bed itself but worst of all in the foot of the bed what appears to be flakes of skin.

Needless to say, I slept with coat covering a pillow and used the remaining dry towels as a blanket.

Great stay
Pros:

FP on this hotel. I have stayed here since sunday and leave tomorrow.. The staff have been very helpful and polite.

Im on 3rd floor so have had no noise from outside or inside.

The room is clean and a nice size with a smart tv, ( only prob the remote is broke had to hit the buttons hard)

Bed is comfy but one side is higher than other and when sleep in midde you dip, apart from these two little things, Hotel is great.

Great location in center of newport
Free tv and cofee in room and bottle water.

And take cash payment

Annual Railway trip to South Wales
Pros:

Excellent service from the staff always pleasant with a smile. Good choice for breakfast which is included in the price. Rooms kept clean and comfortable beds. Easy access to the railway station which is about a 5/10 minute walk away. There is a NCP car park nearby although we did not use it as we had a rail rover ticket. Overall a very good and well positioned hotel to base yourself from. We have stayed here a number of years now and always find it good value for money and you are well looked after.

Cancelled to offer room for more money
Pros:

My partner booked a room here about 6 months ago well in advance to ensure we had a room for the catfish and the bottlemen gig on Friday night. It appears we’re not the only people to have experienced a cancellation like this and it’s disgusting that this would be done for greed by the hotel. It’s obviously a lie as the reason we have been given is on multiple other review on night where there are events in Cardiff. We now have no accommodation and should be travelling from Crewe. We may have to cancel our trip all together. If I could leave a minus review I would.

Pros:

Traveling with kids so this was a great location super close to the train station. Clean and comfortable with good breakfast. Reception warned that there might be noise at night due to bars and pubs close by but we didn't hear anything.

Totally avoidable. We had booked and fully paid for a family room for tonight and they cancelled it without informing us. At 8:00 p.m. we reached for our check-in and were very rude informed by the staff at the front desk that the hotel was fully booked and our reservation was cancelled. Unacceptable unprofessional behavior. Do not trust even a fully paid in advance booking at this hotel.

Pros:

DO NOT STAY HERE!! We made a booking for this saturday months in advance for a concert at the Principality Stadium. They have cancelled our booking, 4 days before the event due to "maintenance" and I have checked today and by some miracle, they have rooms available again! Do not stay here, you risk your reservation being cancelled, this has cost us £150 extra to find a room as everywhere is booked up. I did call the customer service and hotel but everything routes to an indian call centre which was less than useless

Great hotel
Pros:

Lovely clean air conditioned room. Really enjoyed the self serve breakfast. Very comfy bed with no noise of traffic going by. Would definetly recommend this hotel

Missing Reservation

Avoid.

Arrived at the hotel on Friday afternoon, only to be told that they did not have our reservation, despite me having both an email confirmation, and also I was able to show the reservation on their own website.

Extremely poor Customer Service as well. The Receptionist was too busy chatting to a colleague, who interrupted our conversation, to work out how to use a tape-measure to check the size of the TV!

They were "fully booked", by that I take it they have a policy of over-booking to ensure that they are full, hence the numerous reviews with regards last minute cancellations.

Thankfully I was able to book another hotel near-by at last minute.

Booking made and confirmed, but no room available on check in!
Pros:

I made a booking at this hotel in October 2024, for 12 July 2025. The hotel is very close to Newport station and we wanted to stay there as we had tickets to a concert in Cardiff that evening.
Already when we arrived, things did not look promising - we were 4th in the queue to check in and the person being served looked to be having issues with checking in.
There were 2 people serving guests, but the gentlemen was just sitting there looking on. After 10-15 minutes of waiting, he finally served the 2nd person in the queue.
After 30 minutes of waiting, we finally were served, BUT they couldn't find my booking. This was very odd as just 2 weeks earlier, they'd confirmed via booking.com that I could check in from 14:00. They hunted for another 10 minutes or so and came to the conclusion that they could not in any way, offer us a room for the night. We were extremely annoyed and shocked by this, having reserved months in advance. Also my sister doesn't get a night away very often so we had been really looking forward to a night away together.
So we left our bags in the hotel, having parked up already and took the train into Cardiff, resigned to the fact that I'd have to drive back to Gloucestershire at midnight.
On arriving home, I found an email from booking.com asking me to confirm that I hadn't checked in (confirmed with comments) and then an hour later, at midnight another email arrived stating the hotel had cancelled my booking.
I called booking.com this morning who were extremely apologetic about what happened and confirmed the booking had been in place still. They will take it up with the hotel. Booking.com's customer service has at least been very good.
I have also tried to contact the hotel directly, but there is a recorded message and I cannot leave a voicemail as their inbox is full. who knows now if they'll try to charge me. It's been quite an unbelievable and unpleasant experience, which marred our enjoyment of the evening.
