Pros:

The accommodations were clean, comfortable and in a perfect location to walk around in Darien and explore. The dinner we had in The Oaks dining room was wonderful! Loved watching the hens and their baby chick's out our window in the mirnings.

Cons:

Wish they had had an extra blanket for my bed. Comfy when we went to bed but got cold in the night and didn't want to wake my roommate by turning the lights on to change the thermostat to heat. An extra blanket on the end of the bed or in the closet would have been perfect.

We would diffently stay there again .Despite that one negative.
Pros:

Very nice property. The lobby was absolutely stunning.We had breakfast there that was just the right amount. presentation was very very nice as was our waitress

Would go back again.
Pros:

Well kept up and centrally located.

Cons:

The baby grand player piano “tunes” ( and I use that word lightly) were awful. It would have been better to have nothing playing.

Pros:

Hotel, room, restaurant were all excellent. The reason I did not give it a 10 out of 10 was an intermittent noise during the night. We were on the top floor, and it sounded like a heat pump coming on for a while, then stopping, it wasn't so loud that we couldn't sleep comfortably, but it was a bit irritating. We will definitely keep Oaks on the River on our list of highly recommended places, and stay there this fall on our drive to Florida for the winter - however we will ask for a lower floor.

Pros:

Gorgeous location. Nice views of the canal. We enjoyed wine and dinner at the hotel restaurant and then sat by the fire chatting with people. We were traveling with our cat and my only complaint was the beds were open underneath and FULL of dust bunnies. My cat hid under the bed and dragged endless dust bunnies from under both beds…. Vacuum under the beds!

Enjoyed every minute.
Pros:

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very good. The food was very well prepared and the service staff was courteous, professional and friendly. The rooms were very comfortable and the ones with the views were the best.

Cons:

Zero complaints. We have stayed at the Oaks several times and always look forward to returning.

Relaxing place to stay in a really cool revived old historic town with no shortages of things to see
Pros:

Every employee that we encountered was pleasant, friendly and helpful. The amenities included a restaurant and bar, pool w/ a pool bar in the summer, very well equipped fitness center. I also enjoyed a great massage at the spa.

Cons:

Found the added on resort fee and daily pet fee to be a bit excessive. Would prefer the resort fee be built in to the room rate and the pet fee to be charged per visit not nightly.

Not a good experience
Pros:

We ate in the restaurant today after it being recommended by two different friends. The service was beyond bad, and the food was barely adequate. There are too many really good places to eat in Darien to waste your time and money here.
