Pretty building, very very close to the museum
Friends told us about The Truitt. Making a reservation was easy, but you aren't certain which room you'll get unless you know the rooms and can request a specific one. But it all turned out well and we ended up with a nice Queen room on the second floor in the owners' first property. The grounds and common areas are clean and well-appointed; the furniture is comfortable and abundant. One aspect of The Truitt that we didn't care for was the disco-like, grinding music that was piped in throughout the first floor. It wasn't deafeningly loud, but just rather "tiring" after 15 minutes of listening to it (personal preference; just not the genre that appeals to us). It was tolerable in the afternoon and evening (we loved sitting in the beautiful common spaces!), but it was horrible at 9am when we went down to get coffee. The "morning snacks" aren't really that at all, so don't think you're actually getting any kind of real food. But there are loads of coffee houses within 5 minutes in every direction.
We met Zach, the property manager, and he let us tour the second Truitt property across the street as well as the new Aida property just around the corner. Each home has its own "feel" and all are beautifully deocorated. We'll certainly be back!
Location, vibe, decor, comfort!
Toilet paper, hot water was slow.
I really enjoyed contactless check-in. It really made our stay feel more home-y rather than in a sterile hotel. The decorations in our room were so beautiful and classy and we felt like we were staying at someone's house. We are 100% staying at the Truitt again when we come back and can't wait to visit again!
I do not have a single note!
The facilities are very good. Ryan is a really nice person and has good communication skills. I would not hesitate to give a “5-star” to Ryan.
Ryan is very nice but the other person is aggressive. I arrived late and I did not know that the there was no front desk to help me with the check-in. By the time I arrived, the hotel building had been closed. I tried the two phone numbers on the door, but neither got through first. When my phone call eventually got through, I complained for a few seconds on the phone. After Ryan had helped me complete the check-in process, another person came to me and shouted at me. I was about to say “thank you” and “sorry” for my somewhat bad attitude to Ryan when that person showed up and shouted at me. He said he was the owner of the hotel and kept shouting at me, refusing to listen to my explanation and keeping saying “I don’t care about your situation”. He almost cancelled my order and asked me to go to the nearby hotel. I acknowledge that it was my fault that I didn’t pay enough attention to the hotel policy. However, that person (possibly the owner of the hotel) was very aggressive and also rude. Although his attitude finally improved and took me to my room, he should avoid such communication manner in the future. I apologize for any of my fault, but this person’s behavior is also inappropriate.
The most beautiful place we have ever stayed in Kansas City. We came for our 35th wedding anniversary wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint! We had to cut our stay short because my mother in law fell and broke her back. The staff was very wonderful!!
有特色 位置好 舒适
没有电梯 对大行李不友好
Absolutely love everything about this hotel from the location to the decor. Even the owners are absolutely amazing. You must stay here if you have the opportunity.
What a fabulous historical house (and another across the street)! This stay is more than I'd usually book, but worth every penny more to be free to roam an historic mansion and feel at home, rather than be booked into a conglomerate/corporate run, drab, boring, franchised out pile of crap!!! I so loved staying at the Truitt. I want to shout it out loud: but I want to keep it secret so it doesn't get ruined.
Mini fridge and small microwave in the room. At least ice is available in the butler kitchen. I never did find Sling on the Roku TV, and I know Roku. I was way more busy exploring the grounds and looking at the architecture though-so I didn't care about the TV!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Boutique Hotel Experience
I had an amazing stay at this boutique hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. The room was beautifully designed, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. The hotel’s atmosphere is charming, relaxing, and unique, making it stand out from larger chain hotels. The location was perfect, and every aspect of my stay exceeded my expectations. I especially appreciated the personalized service and the care taken to ensure guests have a memorable experience. I highly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again on my next visit
The hotel is beautiful and obviously very thoughtfully decorated. There was a common parlour area to sit and have a complimentary glass of fizz on arrival. They had an ice machine, and free pod-style coffee (though we didn't avail of that).
The beautiful decor is where our praise ends.
Just about everything else about our stay was frustrating and it is INSANELY over-priced for a place that does not even offer/include breakfast ($526 for 2 nights). You are paying boutique bed and breakfast prices for a self check-in air BNB feel.
En route to the hotel we received a text from the owners inviting us to pre-check in. We were driving and tired so responded we'd prefer to just check in on arrival - we were told pre-check in was compulsory, so checking in in-person is not offered. We then received an email with entry instructions, as well as a text at 8pm saying they were 'turning in for the evening', so they were not present at check in to help with problems.
We had explicitly booked this hotel because free parking was included. Only in the check-in email did they then state that there were limited parking spaces and it was first come first serve. Rather than a Google map link, the parking instructions were an image of a map, so it took us 2 attempts to even find the parking. They had a total of THREE parking spaces, all taken. When we texted to ask, they just said we could park on-street, which was extremely annoying after a long drive to have to unload our car, then drive off to find a parking spot blocks away from the hotel.
It took a few attempts to get the entry code to open the door. Our room was on the second floor with no elevator. This was not a huge issue for us to carry heavy bags up stairs, but having no concierge and no elevator is something they should mention before you book in case guests are less able-bodied.
The room (2B) was incredibly cramped. When I first entered I looked for a table or desk to set my purse and water bottle on... there wasn't one, so we relied on window sills. The sink was in the bedroom instead of the bathroom (which backed up the moment we used it to brush our teeth) and it was just a sink with no vanity, so nowhere to set down toiletries.
We absolutely loved everything about The Truitt! It was beautiful, comfortable, spotless, inviting, classic & just perfect!!!!
Not a thing.
