Absolutely amazing property , everything was superb
Comfortable nice room
Restaurant service very very slow, one and a half hours to get dinner served, rude staff
Everything
Nothing
First class hotel now done off my bucket list. The way it's been modified into a hotel is very good.
Staff all wearing prison uniforms just brilliant.
Food first class.
Nothing
the rooms are full of character and the setting is peaceful, the facilities are exceptional.
for the price i think Breakfast could be included.
Food in the restaurant was amazing but pricey, as was the wine.
I really liked this hotel. They did a great job when renovating this old prison. They had a gym, bar and breakfast room and the property was air conditioned. The service was good. We asked for smushier pillows and they found us some :) so we didn't need to fight over pillows. Our room had little bits of information about former inmates which I thought was cool. Our former inmate was a small boy who had stolen bread who spent the night in our cell before he was released without penalty (thankfully). We were only in the area for one night so didn't spend much time in the area, but it was in close proximity to Port Isaac and Tintagel, which we visited on our way towards Wales.
the transition in the building work was incredible. We loved the room and the food was delicious, especially the breakfast.
Fabulous place to stay. Very grand. Mod cons, good complimentary mini bar. Lavish bathroom.
Very quiet. No slamming of doors or running up and down stairs etc.
great free breakfast. Would definitely stay here again
Great bar menu.
Expensive dinner menu
Beautiful building, excellent food, friendly staff and amazing room
Lovely hotel, a very good base, lovely staff, lots of history.
Ordered the full breakfast the first morning, was told there was a bit of a wait, over a hour later stll no breakfast, apparently was made aware the chef wasnt up to standard, people coming after me were getting there breakfast but not me, in the end had toast, and left feeling very let down, we have now had two seperate parking fines of £100 each, and have now got to go through the stress and inconvience of sorting these out, one on the 15th when we checked in, and one on the 17th the day before we checked out, ?, Just not good enough for the price paid.
Very nicely decorated. Lots of original detailing.
We have visited before and the hotel is an amazing place to stay. Staff very pleasant and food extremely good.
The Chapel Restaurant is very good but having to pay extra for sides made the evening meal very expensive.
The place itself, the history…
Partner commented about lack of lighting in bathroom for applying make up, and, considering the luxury vibe that the hotel just oozes the quality
The room was nice. The bathroom was really nice and smart and we liked the big mirror
Fun and interesting
Rooms were quite claustrophobic
Bodmin Hotel is amazing itself although a lot of things had gone downhill compared to previous stays. The room was lovely and very clean and the cleaners were lovely. The staff in the dining hall were amazing and friendly and nothing was too much trouble even when they were very busy. The breakfast was lovely with lots of choices. I cannot fault the cleaning staff or dining staff at all.
Reception staff apart from two were awful. Avoided eye contact , miserable, some were rude, very unhelpful, didn’t care at all about customer satisfaction. They had participants in a game show staying there. The filming was off site but the people making the props were on site and set up a gazebo in the side carpark right under our window and were drilling, banging and using electric tools every day from eight in the morning until eight at night. After complaining we were told we were being moved the next morning but then told after asking the next day that we weren’t being moved. We were told the workmen were being moved but that didn’t happen either. Then we were told the noise would be from 10am-5pm but nothing changed. We went there to relax but this went on every day for a week and was still going on on the day we left. Reception management treated us like we were the problem so we had to just put up with it. We felt our needs were not dealt with and they cared more about not upsetting the workmen. On top of the power tools noise we were subjected to them shouting and using foul language when speaking to each other. We saved for two years to stay there costing us £2800 and might as well have pitched a tent in the middle of a building site. Had it of been work on the building we would have understood but these were behind the scene prop workmen for the show.
From the moment of arrival to when we left we were extremely impressed with the staff, facilities and food. 10/10
No issues for us.
