Spacious. Had everything I needed. Nice bed.
Noisy outside at night but it was the weekend.
Emplacement idéal pour découvrir le cœur du vieux Montréal !
Location was perfect to walk to the sights and river front nearby and also close to the Metro for the rest. Rooms were clean, beds comfy and roomy enough, really amazing value. We are really comfortable using just a code to access without staff, the property makes that also quite and easy system to use. Happy all around.
Nothing to do with the property per se, but we are early risers and the coffee and breakfast shops don't open until 8am. You need to be prepared for that. Also there's only instant coffee in the room, so bring along your ground coffee and french press if you need good coffee before 8!
Location was good. My questions were answered quickly. Easy check in process.
Bathroom tap had leaked on our hand towel and face washers. Only one tea bag and sugars looked old. No water glasses
Cozy, clean, in a great area and value for money
The shower didn't have a sliding door or curtains so the water was on the floor and the bathroom floor became so slippery.
Loved the location in the old port area and strolling through the neighborhood. The buvette downstairs gives it a nice feeling of social intimacy in the evening. The Depaneur cafe nextdoor was excellent for a cup of coffee and pastry in the morning.
Room was great for one person.
A proper cup for tea in the room instead of styrofoam. More tea bags in the box. The shower drain screws were protruding out and I had to be careful not to hurt my feet.
Location is great!! Clean room, nice bathroom. Comfortable bed.
Only 1 bedside table/lamp. No chair. But you aren’t in the room much when you’re in Old Montreal!
Reasonably-priced brand new rooms with attractive bathrooms and high ceilings, excellent Old Montreal location. Bed is comfy (if you like firm mattresses)
In my opinion, I would avoid, avoid, avoid this hotel at all costs. A sewage leak from the upstairs unit made the bathroom inaccessible without getting wet with sewage water, filled large puddles in the outside hallway and emergency stairs, and started dripping into the bedroom. Without any staff on site, Concierge services were completely unable and unwilling to help in the slightest, leaving us standing with our luggage outside in the wee hours of the morning.
We had called the Concierge service multiple times after leaving the unit, and they assured us that that an emergency team, management, and on-site staff were en route, but when we tried a follow-up call more than 5 hours later (9:45) the Concierge was comically unhelpful. She told us “We are acting on this emergency as quickly as possible” and when I asked to speak with the manager/on-site staff that was supposedly "responding to this emergency", the Concierge told us that “they (were) on break at the moment”. This was literally becoming a Kafka novel, and when I asked the Concierge when we could expect to hear back from a manager, she replied “24 to 48 hours”. We had gone from Kafka to Police Squad-levels of unbelievability.
I don’t know what a client (or worse, a family) staying at this hotel would do in this situation. Imagine being sewaged out of your hotel room at 4AM and that’s it. Nothing. No offer of another room, no assistance, you’re just sitting in the hallway, wondering what to do while “customer service” tells you outright lies and couldn’t help you even if they had wanted to.
12 hours after the flooding, we were offered credit for the room stay as compensation. Not a refund, but credit on a future Sonder hotel stay. Caveat emptor, I would not recommend booking a room at this hotel until they have someone available 24x7 to manage the site and deal with situations like the one we encountered.
The location was the only good thing, and the restaurant on the ground floor. At least the place was clean.
The walls are extremely thin, so much so you can hear every single word from the neighbor. They supplied really poor quality earplugs that didn’t stay in the ear, and a noise machine that wasn’t loud enough to drown out the neighbors (they were just talking, but sounded like they were in the room). We couldn’t connect to the internet in the tv so that wasn’t an option to drown out the noise.
This was the least of our worries, however. Not having a reception/anyone to help when things go wrong: We had to move room, it was unbearable, as we were working in Montreal that weekend and worked late we got back at midnight, and while we were moved to a quiet room (not a great room at all but very quiet), we were locked out of our original room before we could collect our belongings. We spent a good 2 hrs on the phone with someone at Sonder ( for a total of 5 over the weekend) trying to open our room remotely, after being told to wait until morning, we finally got out belongings out.
Complete nightmare. Will never stay there out with Sonder again.
I liked the location of the hotel.
The photo of the hotel building on Booking.com is different from the actual property. There is no service or staff available. The shower booth has no door, causing water to spread across the entire bathroom floor.
Loveeeeeed the location!!! It was so good in the Old City. The bathroom in the room was beautiful!
Didn’t love that there is no lobby/guest services. Everything is is done online yourself. Which is also confusing because there is another Sonder hotel right behind but they don’t deal with these bookings.
Bed was ok.
The location was great, lots to do around and explore. The facilities are bare minimum of what you need, and it is just a room and washroom, which if that's all you need it's good.
Poor communication, got into the hotel late while waiting.
First I got a message saying to rate the hotel and enjoy my stay before even checking in. That raised alarms. We got to the hotel earlier than check in. There is no staff onsite. I called in if I can check in earlier, they said I have to wait. OK that's fine. They said a check in code would be emailed to me. Come 4pm we come back, no check in code. Had to call in, waiting for at least half an hour just to speak to representative, and finally get the checkin code. It was not a seamless process, and annoying considering the price point is not that far off from other hotels.
The washroom design was not fully private, the shower didn't have a door so all the water splashed everywhere.
