We booked and informed them we would be checking in at the homestay at 11 pm and got a welcome message with a handphone number to call to check in. So far, so good. On arrival, though, there was no response from the phone number we were given. After trying for over an hour, we gave up and were fortunate to find accommodation for the night with someone we knew in that town.
The next morning we called a landline number, got to a call center and were routed to a lowly clerk who was polite but totally unable to understand what he was dealing with. He kept explaining to us how to check in and made no attempt to understand what happened last night other than asking for the phone number we called. There was no apology and no acknowledgement we had a distressful night. Basically, it was all standard operational procedures to him. I told him to talk to his people and come back with (i) an acknowledgement we had a distressing experience (ii) an apology (iii) an offer on how to make things better for our stay. I also asked to speak to his manager
But he was the one to call back later with only an offer for a full refund. I explain to him that was just a cancellation and pretending that nothing last night has happened. That is not how you treat people who suffered the night before. And if I don't get get an apology, acknowledgement of our suffering and a better offer, my experience still remains and he will get a terrible review. But he just couldn't understand. He wasn't evasive or anything. He was just following his procedures and just don't understand the situation at all. It was exasperating. I kept asking to speak to his manager and he never did pass me on - it was like it wasn't in his procedures to do so.
If you book with any of their properties, you are not booking with the hospitality industry. You are just an object of the procedures which owner/manager had tasked some poor untrained (and not very bright) soul to operate.
very comfy.
