Luxurious feeling to this hotel. Very comfortable beds and room. Great shower. Great location. Bakery at the front was exceptional
Room service added a fee for ‘take out’ to our room. Also we had to wait a long time for the take out (although it was a Saturday night so quite busy in the restaurant).

The staff were great. Always helpful, always smiling. Cannot fault them, they were lovely. The bedroom was spacious, clean and comfortable. The combined bakery and bar area opposite reception could get crowded and a bit noisy. The red wine I had while killing time before a dinner reservation wasn't particularly good though. The restaurant was good - food and wine to a high standard - and again, the service was excellent. The hotel is walking distance from several interesting sites and a max 10 minute walk to the Keihan Rail network.
Bar facilities weren't great, and no coffee machine in the bedroom
What isn’t there to love about this hotel? This was my favourite hotel experience in Japan and possibly ever travelling abroad!! It’s about a 10 minute straight forward walk from the closest train station. Located in a very lovely quiet suburb with the beautiful Japanese Kyoto architecture and modern city.
The hotel lobby shares space with the bakery that makes freshly baked goods every morning and your favourite cafe drinks. I highly recommend the cheese bagel and shiopan!
We were greeted by staff that accommodated us with speaking English. We were offered the choice to upgrade our room to the king size room for approximately $120 AUD more for 3 nights. We accepted and were placed on the 6th floor, where the rooftop bar was. Our room was stunning, BIG and luxurious. It was the perfect size for Western standards and two medium size suitcases. There was a filtered water machine in the bathroom and so we would fill up our drink bottles every morning before heading out. The bathroom was spacious and a great size. The toilet was separate to the bathroom area and was a modern Toto toilet.
The hotel is located about 10 minutes from the river and it was so beautiful to walk to dinner at night to our favourite izakaya chain Torikizoku. On the day of check out we were able to leave our bags at the reception and make the short walk to Kiyiomizudera temple.
Our next Japan trip will predominantly be in the snow but we will definitely try to make a visit back to this beautiful hotel again!
I don’t like that I had to leave!! 😂
