The Clarion Hotel is conveniently located near the airport. The stay was relaxing.
Pros:

On our trip from Germany to Mauritius with Saudia Air, we had an 8-hour layover in Jeddah, from 11:00 PM to 7:15 AM. We therefore decided in advance to spend the night at the nearest hotel, the Clarion.
The hotel is a triangular building. Fortunately, our hotel room was not located directly facing the very busy road/highway.

Cons:

Before our arrival, we were provided with a WhatsApp number to contact the hotel; however, the number was not recognized by WhatsApp. From that point on, it was also impossible to send a message to the hotel via Booking.com (an error message appeared). While at the airport in Jeddah, we received a text message from the hotel asking us to get in touch via WhatsApp. We were unable to reach anyone by phone; there was only an automated message in Arabic. Consequently, we had to take an overpriced taxi instead of using the hotel’s shuttle service, which was included in the price. Unfortunately, at the end of the trip, the taxi driver demanded an additional €20, even though we had agreed on a fixed price of €35 with the person who organized the taxi ride. He even became aggressive in the process.
Communication with the hotel could certainly be improved. In particular, the hotel could have reached out to us directly via WhatsApp, given that we had provided our mobile phone number.

Close to the airport. A relaxing stay. A fantastic breakfast buffet.
Pros:

The Clarion Hotel is located near the airport. The breakfast buffet, which we were able to take advantage of this time, was excellent. In addition to breakfast items, food for lunch was also being served at the same time.

Cons:

This time, the hotel reached out via WhatsApp in advance, allowing us to use their shuttle service from the start.
When I messaged the hotel through that same WhatsApp chat to arrange a shuttle pickup—sometime between 11:00 PM and midnight—the person who responded seemed confused as to why I was contacting them there. When I asked for clarification, he claimed his shift will end at 10:00 PM that day. He then provided a different mobile number to reach the driver. This new number featured the same profile picture as the driver I had initially been in contact with. Shortly before midnight, the hotel shuttle arrived, driven by the very same person who had expressed confusion in the first chat—and who was also the person behind the second mobile number.
My attempt to reach a hotel staff member by calling the hotel’s official phone number from Mauritius Airport was also unsuccessful; I was met only with a rather long recorded message in Arabic.

Unfortunately, this does not reflect a high standard of service or reliability!
