After having an "average" experience in April, we returned for our Anniversay in October and to visit the Aurora Spa. We love the spa and have vowed to make more frequent visits in 2026 and spend the night at the hotel.
In April we discussed with Bruce, the duty manager, some of the things that werent hitting the mark for 5 Star experience on the food and beverage side . He was so empathetic and we felt he really took on board what we were saying .We felt the Hotel staff, standards and service were impeccable but as hard as they worked, they were being let down by the breakfast and the restaurants.
I am pleased to say that in October when we returned we were delighted that we found everything to be perfect. The change to a buffet breakfast with egg station made an enormous difference and the restaurant experience was much better.
We are returning again in December. This time with our family as we are confidnet they will enjoy this experience as much as we have. Sandra helped me with the booking of multiple rooms and I have the Aurora Spa all booked . Can't wait to come back.
Luxurious and beautifully appointed hotel in the middle of Sorrento . The staff were fantastic and the buffet breakfast delicious. We stayed in a cosy Heritage room which, although the price was reasonable, was not enjoyable as it had 2 windows that were frosted over because it was a floor above the atrium restaurant. It was quite laughable and certainly claustrophobic and we could only manage one night there. We were aware when we booked it that it was a noisy room, but not that it had totally obstructed views. I believe that should be stated on the website. Please be aware when you are booking a room here.
I stayed two nights at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sorrento, VIC . I was there for a family wedding in nearby Portsea.
The room I was in, whilst not overly spacious was so beautifully furnished and most importantly had a very comfortable king size bed with choice of pillows you can organise on line prior to your visit. The bar was well stocked with drinks and snacks.
There are different bars and restaurants located in the hotel. I only had the opportunity to eat breakfast at Cee Cee’s dining room because of the family commitments. There was so much hot and cold food on offer in the buffet style dining room, including a chef to cook your preferred omelettes.
There is a spa and bathhouse on hand if you have time to pamper yourself.
Another bonus is the underground car parking which is so convenient when you arrive, to drive straight in to.
The hotel is located at the top of the main street in Sorrento with its array of shops and galleries to browse in, to different beaches located a short drive away, including surf beaches for the enthusiasts. A great place to visit and a must stay at the Intercontinental Hotel.
A lovely one night getaway for our anniversary. The room (1 King Premium Terrace) was spacious with a free mini bar with yummy snacks and drinks. Ocean glimpses from the terrace. The pool area was nice with great ocean views.
We had dinner at the Conti which was yummy and great value. Highly recommend the chicken burger!
The staff were all so friendly and accommodating.
Breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast but made special by the wonderful omelette station and the excellent chef in charge of it. One of the best omelettes I’ve had.
Thank you for making our anniversary so special Intercontinental Sorrento. We look forward to booking again and bringing our kids down for another getaway.
We stayed at the Intercontinental for a girls weekend celebrating our dear friends 50th birthday. We wanted something special and the hotel did not disappoint from the moment we stepped inside! The rooms are beautiful and the beds were very comfortable. The mini bar was complimentary and very generous. The Aspar products in the bathroom are a beautiful touch! We loved the hotel so much we only left to go shopping! We stayed for lunch, dinner and breakfast the next day! The service from initial booking to checkout was outstanding. We didn’t get the chance to use the rooftop pool but it is absolutely beautiful and we cannot wait to bring our partners and kids back! Thankyou for making our friends milestone birthday so special!
Lovely stay, disappointing the TV was not working and also no information on how to contact the reception. The room phones were not clear
Amazing staff and location
An elegant and refined hotel, a place to rejuvenate and relax where all comforts are accommodated. Helpful and gracious staff- will look forward to returning!
Gold class hotel in Sorrento
Staff in breakfast area were very slow and we had to wave at them to get service. They were chatting to each other all the time. We had Lucy same spot same problem staff service very poor had to wave at them for service. Breakfast food selection was average had a lot better at other hotels
Excellent stay.

Fabulous stay at Intercontinental Sorrento from beginning to end.
All staff very welcoming especially in the Atrium restaurant. Lovely friendly happy front of house and waitresses in the restaurant. Very welcoming !
Keep smiling and keep up the great work.😄
Excellent location. Disappointed restaurant closed
I stayed at The Conti with my boyfriend for two nights recently - and it was the perfect romantic weekend away.
From the communications pre-arrival, to our check-in process, the room (which was breathtaking…and we couldn’t believe the size of it!), breakkie in the Atrium, our two meals (dinner on the Friday night, then lunch on the Saturday), drinks at Barlow both nights, and the speedy check out, it was exceptional service from start to finish.
I’ve stayed at myriad hotels around the world, and the entire experience at The Conti was simply outstanding.
In fact, we loved it so much, I’ve booked again to come down for two nights in December 😊
Bravo to all who work at this outstanding hotel.
Great hotel, clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and attentive.
Providing mini bar and breakfast could have more variety.
Room was nice and clean but the chromecast did not work in our room
We were disappointed with the size and lack of comfort for two people in our room. There was only one chair, so not ideal for sitting to watch TV or read; bathroom offered almost no privacy; the only useful storage was one drawer each; the iron could only just be reached without climbing on a chair. The plus side: great location; mostly quiet; fabulous breakfast!!!! Restaurants were expensive compared to average Melbourne prices. Service was excellent.
Loved the location to shops, restaurants and beaches.
Despite the premium rate, the room was shockingly small—barely enough space to open a suitcase without tripping over it. The layout felt cramped and poorly thought out, making it hard to relax or even move around comfortably.
Worse still, the room was incredibly dark. The lighting was dim and uneven, it felt more like a basement than a luxury suite. For a hotel that markets itself as upscale, this was a major letdown.
On the plus side, the staff were courteous and the location was convenient, but those positives couldn’t make up for the uncomfortable room. At this price point, I expected far more in terms of space, comfort, and ambiance.
Would I stay again? No
