Etéreo, Auberge Collection

I called to reserve an accessible room for my son, who uses a wheelchair, and was informed by the reservation agent that the property does not have any accessible rooms. She was very apologetic and explained that, unfortunately, the property is not wheelchair accessible.
I was shocked to learn that a newly developed luxury property would not offer accommodations for guests with disabilities. It is incredibly disappointing that accessibility was not prioritized.
At a minimum, I believe the property's website should clearly state that it does not offer wheelchair-accessible accommodations so that families like ours do not waste time researching or attempting to book a stay.

Because of this, we will not be considering Auberge properties in the future. We've had excellent experiences staying at the St. Regis Kanai, Belmond Maroma, and Rosewood Mayakoba, all of which offer accessible suites. We were excited to try this new property because its beach came highly recommended, but unfortunately, the lack of accessibility makes that impossible for our family.

Overall, the facilities are beautiful and the service is outstanding. Our suite had a constant leak that was never fixed during our five night stay. We got locked out of our room as the bracelets failed. This required a 20 minute process to address and regain access.

Our biggest issue is the value proposition. We paid around $1000 per night for our suite, which was well-designed and nicely furnished. I never mind paying high prices if what is offered is worth it. However, the US$100+ breakfasts, $200+ poolside lunches, $100 rounds of drinks, and $400 dinners were just way overpriced for what was delivered. Be prepared to spend $800-$1000 per day for food and drinks that are good, but far from exceptional.

Fabulous experience with super friendly and attentive staff! Rooms, restaurants, pools, were very well maintained and staffed well! We will return!

We spent a wonderful and truly memorable stay at Etereo Auberge and could not have wished for a more peaceful and relaxing environment to unwind after a long journey. From the moment we arrived, the resort felt like a very special place - a beautiful blend of luxury, nature, tranquility, and a subtle spiritual atmosphere that was present in just the right amount.

The property itself is absolutely stunning. The architecture and design seamlessly integrate with the natural surroundings, creating a magical atmosphere throughout the resort. The suites, thoughtfully nestled within the lush landscape, offer both privacy and a strong connection to nature, making every moment feel calm and restorative. Our stunning two-bedroom penthouse suite truly felt like a second home - beautifully designed, exceptionally comfortable, and with absolutely nothing more one could wish for.

What truly elevates Etereo, however, is the people. The level of service across the entire resort was exceptional and consistently exceeded expectations. From our personal guía and concierge support to the beach and pool teams, baristas, restaurant staff, and housekeeping, everyone was incredibly attentive, warm, and genuinely committed to creating a memorable experience. No request ever felt like too much trouble, and every interaction was met with kindness and a sincere desire to make our stay special.

The facilities were equally impressive - from the beautiful pool areas and serene atmosphere to the excellent dining options and overall attention to detail throughout the property. The resort manages to create the perfect balance between deep relaxation and being wonderfully family friendly, while still maintaining an elegant and refined ambiance throughout.

Overall, Etereo delivered a truly exceptional experience for our family. A beautiful place to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy outstanding hospitality. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already hoping to return.

Our stay at Etéreo, Auberge Resorts Collection completely transformed what had been a rough start to a much-anticipated mother-daughter getaway. We had originally booked another resort and made the decision to relocate after the first night, and from the moment we arrived at Etéreo, everything changed.

From the second we stepped onto the property, every detail felt intentional, curated, and incredibly special. We received such a warm welcome from the staff, and two lovely women personally escorted us to our room. We were graciously upgraded to a breathtaking room that truly took my breath away. Every detail of the room was beautiful, thoughtful, and impeccably designed.

Housekeeping kept everything absolutely spotless each day, and the views were spectacular. Beyond the beauty of the property itself, what made this stay unforgettable was the warmth of the people. Every staff member we encountered made us feel genuinely cared for. A special thanks to our butler, Victor, for taking such thoughtful care of us during our stay. Also, a special thanks to Jenner for the farewell blessing and necklaces you presented to us upon our departure --truly a beautiful keepsake we will both treasure forever.

We especially loved the nightly ceremony to say goodnight to the sun — such a unique and meaningful touch that perfectly reflected the Mayan spirit of the resort. The spa services were exceptional, the food was wonderful, and even the music by the pool was perfect for the atmosphere. Truly a 10 out of 10 experience in my book.

We are so grateful for the memories made here and will absolutely return to this very special property.

I had a lovely stay at Etereo. The staff went above and beyond to make for an exceptional stay. I dined at all of the restaurants and never had a bad meal. The beach is lovely. It is one of the few places along the beach with little seaweed thanks to the amazing seaweed barrier they have installed. I don't often to return to hotels because I love trying new things but I will absolutely return one day!

Loved the staff, resort decor and vibe, the food was high quality. The activities on property were top notch. I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy time to decompress.

What a great 5 days at Etereo! My wife and I did a quick 5 day trip to Cancun and enjoyed every minute we were at this resort. Usually when we travel, we stay for a day or two at the hotel and then venture out to see other areas. At Etereo, we never left...just 5 days of fun in the sun -24x7 at the hotel. We never left. The staff was some of the best we have come across in all of our global travels. Daniela our Guia was superb. Juan Carlos at the pool made us not want to leave - plus we talked and joked so much my "smile muscles" hurt. Itzam breakfast was our favorite meal at Etereo. OscarSosa, Victor, Saul and Miguel were our primary waiters both morning and evening as we ate there every morning and most of the evenings. Changarro at the beach is where we had lunch daily. Ros, Victor and Gabriel did not let us down. We kept wondering where they found their staff - - all of them had the same wonderful personality. We later met the GM, Laura Villalobos, and realized that it was her vision of service and hotel culture that was embodied into the entire staff of Etereo. The room and grounds were truly beautiful and reflected right back onto overall vibe exemplified by the people. Upon returning home friends asked us if we liked our stay at Etereo - our response was simple - "We'd go back in heartbeat and we plan on it" Something we almost never say.

The spa experience was serene a bit complicated with all the rooms but super relaxing. (sound room cool!) The massage was unbelievable.

The rooms have an unbelievable view from bed. All interior and furniture beautifully crafted with local MX art and furniture. loved the plunge pool and oversized balcony.

Probably the best hotel food we’ve had in MX. Local specialties and divine mayan cuisine. the red ceviche was sublime.

Secluded. inspired. serene.

the only issue was the seaweed in beach and trucks cleaning it. but this is a climate change issue. not the hotel’s. so if you’re a beach person you will find the beachfront disappointing.

We have been fortunate enough to visit the Cancun / Riviera Maya area many times over the years, but this trip was our favorite. Does this resort have beautiful rooms? Yes. Are the pools beautiful? Yes. Is the food incredible? Yes. But, what makes this place special are the people. There is an overall kindness in every staff member, from housekeeping to manager-level employees. You can feel that they are truly happy to have you stay at their resort, and they often go out of their way to make you feel special.
I would like to especially thank Oscar - our breakfast waiter, Sara - the manager at breakfast, Gabriel at the beach, Daniel at the pool, and Kevin from room service/special dinner staff. Not to mention the staff who took us by golf cart to dinner at the St. Regis, housekeeping who kept our room beautiful and filled with treats, the pool waiter who brought our lunch order to our room in a thunderous downpour, and the shaman who welcomed us to the resort.
There are many options for a trip to the Cancun area - this one is truly special.

We recently spent 5 nights at Etéreo and it was a wonderful experience. It is rare to find a property that successfully combines true 5-star service with fantastic amenities for kids, but Etéreo nails it.

Etéreo vs. Banyan Tree Mayakoba
For the past three years, we have stayed at Banyan Tree Mayakoba, but this year we decided to try Kanai. While we love Banyan Tree, we found Etéreo (and Kanai in general) to be smaller, more intimate, and much easier to get around. At Etéreo, all rooms are "beach side," meaning the sand and pools are just a short stroll from the guest houses—no golf carts required. Banyan Tree wins on the private in-villa pools (which are huge), but the beach and main pools at Etéreo are superior and just can't be beat.

Room & Layout Tips
• Views: All rooms are ocean-facing, though be aware that first-floor rooms have less of a view of the sea due to the mangroves.
• Location: Request a room in House 4 or 5 for the easiest access to the main walkway.
• Plunge Pools: Most rooms have them. They aren't heated, but they stay pleasant as they are warmed by the sun throughout the day.

The Service
The service was flawless and personal. Everywhere we went—whether at the restaurants or the pool—the staff knew us by name. A special mention to Jerry, who welcomed us and conducted our check-in right in our room. I loved this detail; it was so much more relaxing than sitting in a lobby waiting for administrative tasks to be done behind a desk.

Our "Guía" (butler), Itzel, was also fantastic. She ensured everything was in order every step of the way, helped plan our itinerary, and even left a toy axolotl on our daughter’s bed on the final evening—a thoughtful touch that made her trip.

Smart Details
The resort gets the little things right. Instead of key cards, you are given simple, waterproof Mayan bracelets to wear, so you never have to worry about carrying (or losing) a key at the pool or beach. They also leave high-end water bottles in the room which you can use throughout your stay and keep as a souvenir.

The Facilities & Spa
The spa was the absolute highlight. It was, without hesitation, the best spa experience I have ever had. The facilities are incredible—specifically the included "cleanse" circuit (sauna, whirlpool, clay room, rain shower)—and the treatments themselves were beyond 5-stars. Do not miss this.

The pool situation is also excellent. The family pool is lively but never felt busy; it’s large enough to feel luxurious for adults rather than like a "water park." The adult pool is nearby but architecturally separated enough that you can find total peace there if you wish.

The beach is perfect for young children—smooth white sand, no dunes, and a very shallow, protected bay.

For Families
The Kids Club was marvelous. Our daughter actually requested to go there for "dinner and a movie" one evening instead of dining with us! A really nice touch is the "kids eat free" policy, which makes the resort feel much more welcoming than many other ultra-luxury properties.

The Dining
We ate every meal at the resort. The daily breakfast at Itzam was excellent, and the special "Abuela Dinner" in the Resol Garden was a standout—authentic, delicious, and exactly what we crave when in Mexico. The other menus lean a bit more towards high-end fusion; while the quality is high, we personally found ourselves enjoying the simpler, "home-cooked" style dishes the most.

Verdict
If you are looking for a place where you don’t have to compromise on luxury to bring your kids, this is it. We will definitely be back.

Truly wonderful experience all around. The service is outstanding from check in to check out. The guia (ours was Ommar) actually check in with you, your interactions are genuine, they are reliable and responsive. The rooms are gorgeous - specifically recommend the Ocean View with Plunge Pool. The setting among the mangroves is so unique and beautiful. The pools are outstanding and food all top class - especially the poolside menu and breakfast at Itzam. We will absolutely be back and are already telling friends! The snorkelling excursion was also wonderful - the reef is so healthy and it was very close to the resort. We saw lots of fish, turtles, and multiple sting rays!

We stayed at the Etereo Auberge for a pre Xmas break, I can honestly say this hotel is an absolute gem. The setting , rooms, food and service are all outstanding. Set in lush mangroves with incredible sea views, white sand, rooms that emulate subtle luxury, staff that are there for your every request, but friendly and service oriented. The food especially breakfast outstanding, with fresh quality unique dishes was one of the highlights. I would recommend this hotel for a relaxing getaway that will really leave you completely refreshed
