Rossio is a very well-kept hotel in the heart of the Baxia district in Lisbon. It was walkable to many other areas that we visited. The staff were incredibly friendly and rooms were cleaned well each day. The worst thing about it? There is a second entrance that you use to access the rooms (which is totally fine), but when you enter that section, there is a TERRIBLE smelling diffuser that they use in that area. It smelled like floral garbage - a certain sweetness to the funk. Sounds crazy to complain about, but it was pretty bad - lol. They just need to lose that thing and then holding my breath while walking up the flight of stairs to get to the elevator wouldn't have been so bad. The room is quite small, but that's how it is in a lot of big cities where real estate is too valuable for people to sprawl everywhere. It was functional, efficiently planned, and clean (great mattresses, too! Pillows were a little soft and lumpy, but whatever). Overall, I'd recommend it for both value, location, and cleanliness. Oh, and it has great AC - when the days are 35 degrees outside, the AC is VERY much appreciated!
Hotellet var rent og romslig. Deilig senger og fint bad. Beliggenheten var veldig sentral og gjorde det lett å komme seg rundt til fots, med bolt eller med metro/buss.
Noe lytt inn fra gangen. Man kunne høre godt når folk gikk i gangen og samtalene de hadde.
The hotel is located almost directly across the street from the Rossio Elevator and a short walk from Rossio Plaza. The location was very accessible and only a 5 minute walk from the Rossio Metro station (that is how we got from the airport to downtown).
The room was quiet and peaceful and spacious enough for us to relax and spread out a little. The bathroom was well-appointed with great water pressure in the shower and nice towels! The bed was also very comfortable - a nice plush/firm feel. The hairdryer in the room worked well. The air conditioner also worked very well and even in the heat, we slept nice and cool.
The breakfast was a balance of fresh fruits, local cheeses, croissants and other pastries, breads, lunch meats, fresh eggs, veggies, and cereals. Good way to start the day. The breakfast staff was very helpful and went out of their way to accommodate requests.
The staff at the front desk were very informative and helpful with everything from restaurant recommendations to public transportation guidance. One of the restaurant recommendations was for Taberna da Baixa - simply outstanding. Being close to the Rossio train station (5 min walk) made it easy to get to Sintra via train, so access to the train station was a definite plus. The front desk is also the keepers of fresh Nata pastries every day, and a small glass of good Port. Definitely made us feel welcome!
When we return to Lisbon, we will likely stay at Hotel Rossio Plaza if we can get a room with view.

De kamers waren recent vernieuwd. De badkamer had veel ruimte rond de wastafel om al je toiletgerief kwijt te kunnen. De kamer was niet enorm groot, maar voor een citytrip meer dan voldoende. Aan het ontbijt was voldoende variatie. We mochten zelfs een ontbijt vroeger klaarmaken om mee te nemen op een excursie. Het volledige personeel was vriendelijk en zeer behulpzaam.

You can’t get more central than this! Perfect location, the room was a good size, very clean, nice modern design, the bed was great, and had everything you could need. They cleaned the room and changed the sheets and towels every day, which was very nice. We also had a lovely view from the window. They were kind enough to keep our luggage on the last day until our flight, at no extra cost. Overall, it was a really great experience.
The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the communication regarding the requirement to provide bank card details or a deposit at check-in. This was only communicated on the day of our arrival, which I found a little unpleasant, especially as we had been in communication for months and this was never mentioned, nor was it mentioned when we made the booking. I would therefore recommend being more transparent about this requirement in advance. Other than that, it was a really lovely stay!
