We enjoyed a delightful dinner at the rooftop restaurant. All the staff were non-English speaking, but were pleasant and efficient. Our room was more like a huge apartment. Nothing much to see in Jala, but still worth a visit for a taste of real Mexico.
The town was eerily quiet on Monday, with only a Chinese restaurant available for lunch. We didn't use the hotel spa, but would have enjoyed a dipping pool.

My wife and I had a terrific stay at the Nukari during our trip to see Jala's annual corn festival. I am sure not many foreign visitors have been to the festival, but is a taste of genuine Mexican culture, including a parade, fair and lots of beer! The hotel is right in the center of town but is an oasis of peace and quiet. Our suite was very comfortable. We enjoyed cocktails and dinner on the rooftop with unbeatable views of the cathedral, had a great day at the spa (highly recommended - one of the best massages I have ever had), and had the pool to ourselves. Despite the busy time of the year Antonio managed to get us a guide to take us on an ATV tour up Ceboruco volcano!
