Location
Some staff didn’t acknowledge you, even a good morning etc at restaurant, no explanation when first arrival at breakfast. Was in deluxe twin on 7th floor and could hear chairs being moved and noises in restaurant floor above despite room supposed to be soundproof, wouldn’t stay on 7th floor again! Only 2 x teabags and 2 small pots of milk and sugar for 2 people on tea tray for 2 people for 2 night stay! Not told in reception about car park and registration we reminded them!
Near Powerham Castle for an event. Parking easy and train station near by. Lovely staff helpful. Clean, comfortable beds. Shower great. Mugs not cups 😀
The location was brilliant as I was at an event at Sandy Park...
The room rate was inflated due to a concert at Powderham Castle...
Really helpful staff, food was great, very clean and comfortable
Working aircon, clean tidy room and facilities.
No bottled water in room, poor bar food.
Overall just over-priced. Poor value for money.
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Room was spotless and lovely and modern. Couldn’t fault at all
We had a drink in bar whilst waiting for our room (we were early) barmaid didn’t know what a shandy was and the lager was completely flat.
Good location for business trip
On level 2 and lots of banging crashing from above level restaurant etc I did go and asked to be moved room but unable to do this the noise started up once again early hours, very disappointed as I am a good customer to this hotel and have never had this issue .
Clean comfortable rooms, variety of lounge space depending on what you wanted from a stay
Breakfast was not at the level I expected for the price point on quality of the hotel
Good corporate hotel if you wish to impress clients/staff. Even able to get the train into Exeter town centre, although we were primarily there for the rugby 🏉
Can’t really criticise anything. Lack of privacy to en-suite may be an issue for some but not sure if all rooms are the same 🙂
the hotel rooms were clean and the bathroom etc was good. I liked the three bottles, refillable, for hair, body and conditioning - much less wasteful, and a good quality of product inside meant it did not feel cheap but rather a sustainable choice.
The view from my room was lovely, overlooking fields. The view from the restaurant was amazing.
Coffee in the room - I paid almost £200 for a room, only to find Nescafe sachets and 2 tiny milk tubs, no proper coffee making, and cheap tea bags as well. No bottled water. This is a 4 star hotel, this is completely unacceptable - even B&B's do better (and I stay at hotels and b&Bs weekly in my job, so I mean this)
Secondly =- breakfast. What a shambles. 2 coffee makers, one of which broke, for over 100 guests. No table service, self service was poorly laid out and managed - like a canteen - people were queuing for ages for their full English. A small central area had a poor range of pastries and yoghurts. I don't eat bread, but there were queues for toast too. It felt as if they were caught unawares, yet this is what they do each day? it wasn't even the weekend, it was a Thursday, so no excuse for this at all. I am vegetarian, so do not know if the sausages and bacon were worth the wait. The plain yoghurt was good, and the compote tasty. the continental breakfast element did not seem well organised or stocked. I stayed at a Bel and the Dragon recently and their breakfast was far superior, and much better organised, with great coffee. Do better.
