The Lodge 30A

We stayed at Lodge 30A at the end of July. We booked a weeklong stay to explore the area & real estate. I was looking forward to enjoying the pool area especially because the beaches were closed so to storm for a few days. When we checked in we were not informed about the condition of the pool. To our shock the pool was the color of Green Gatorade. No sign on the pool door to alert guests to not use pool. We checked in on Tuesday… the pool remained GREEN until Friday Morning. There were quite a few guests who were upset about the lack of management & protocols for SAFETY. At one point a young pregnant woman was told by a man servicing the pool actually expressed to her that there are so many chemicals in the pool on Thursday that it would risk loosing your toes if you put you foot in. True or not…. A very sketchy situation for guests & children. Friday morning we all woke up to a blue cloudy pool. Clearly revived with chemicals. However… absolutely no sense gun or warning for guests. New guest were completely unaware of the possibility of high chemicals and unsafe water for children & pregnant women.
We checked out 3 days early & were completely disappointed with the pool, lack of controllable AC in room, insufficient Housekeeping . The front desk person was rude and dismissive when my husband politely asked to a later checkout. A sharp, quick NO
RUDE.
We did get 10% off of our 4 nights which was issued to guests that were disturbed & unsatisfied to there stay due to the GREEN POOL.
Management needs to DO BETTER for a hotel that advertises itself as higher end and A+ amenities.

Perfectly situated in the heart of the area, the hotel offered a gym and pool, with numerous shops, restaurants, and a public beach all just a short stroll away.

The room was very spacious, clean, and thoughtfully equipped with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine, glass plates, cups, and utensils. The comfortable bed and pillows made for a restful night's sleep, and the room was exceptionally quiet, creating a relaxing and peaceful environment throughout my stay.

What truly made my stay exceptional, however, was the outstanding staff. Cynthia and Evelyn welcomed me warmly upon arrival and were incredibly accommodating. When they asked the reason for my visit, I shared that I was celebrating my birthday in two days. Throughout my stay, Cynthia greeted me by name every evening and even surprised me by singing "Happy Birthday" on my birthday. She also went above and beyond by recommending public beaches, restaurants, and even a local spot where residents go to enjoy the nightlife. Although I only saw Evelyn once more before my departure, she also greeted me by name and took the time to make sure I had enjoyed a wonderful birthday weekend.

Their genuine kindness and personal attention made my birthday celebration even more memorable.

The general manager is cheap, pins the AC at the hardware level at 70 degrees, and gives you a dummy thermostat that doesn't do anything. Beware: the property is nice, but their customer service is bad. I had 3 nights with a box fan, no compensation, and no regrets on their side.

I called her to let her know, and she did not care. She said The person before you or after you did not complain? I'm like, what? So you basically told me you know about the issue and don't care.
PS: Until they replace the general manager, Evelyn W, I would avoid it.
Nobody should sleep more than one night with a box fan without some compensation.

The location and price are great. For a one night stay in the area we were happy with it.

So the Lodge 30A is part of a larger, though quaint, shopping/dining area, which allows the hotel to have minimal amenities like eateries or a bar. The area is suitable but the room and services were surely lacking. Simply put, both beds were swayed and was due for replacement at least 5yrs ago. The floor and ceiling were incredibly noisy, as we could hear our steps and anytime they moved above us. Lastly, the servicing every other day during beach and pool season does not work. After 2 days the stack of towels was menacing and the sand on the hard floor was a safety hazard. Plus, leaving at 9am the 2nd day and came back after 5hrs to a dirty room still. Front desk staff was accomodating, which was a plus. Almost no other hotels around so maybe that's how they get by.

I booked a stay at this hotel on on Saturday for Sunday. I ran into an unforeseen circumstance(FAMILY EMERGENCY) which warranted me canceling my booking. I was given an option to request an exception for the cancellation policy (not being charged the full amount). I chose said option and waited. Nothing happened. I also personally sent an email to the reflecting email address on their website… Still nothing .. Later that evening, I received a call from Lodge 30A with someone asking me “what time are you checking in?” This alone told me that nobody’s paying attention to anything because even before my cancellation request I sent an email to them with an enquiry … NOTHING. I explained to the agent / CSR that I cancelled my booking since early o clock and that I also made a request for a cancellation exception. She explained to me that I would need to liase with booking.com. I went ahead and sent a message to them. They too responded by letting me know that they’d made a request for the exception and hadn’t heard anything from the hotel. I decided to call to settle this once and for all. The agent told me that I would need to speak to a manager. Imagine already being in distress and still having to go back and forth ! Anyway, I reached out to the manager and guess what ? ZERO compassion. I fullllly understand that policies are policies. However , WHY have an option if it’s never going to be considered or fulfilled? And why work in such an industry with nooooo consideration whatsoever. At no point did the manager ( EVELYN) show any form of empathy. Instead, she was extremely rude to me! She kept repeating “there’s nothing I can do” and even said “like I said , idk if you re hearing me” in the most uncouth tone ! Can you believe I even tried to be “thoughtful” throughout this whole ordeal and ask if I could maybe book another date because I figured they’d be happy to not be at a loss atleast. Clearly they don’t care about ANYTHING whatsoever ! She just got irritated and told me over and over there’s nothing I can do. If I could’ve given half a star I would !! This doesn’t end here. I am truly disappointed and disturbed by this experience!!

The area is clean, nice, friendly, and pleasant.

Location, so pretty, spacious room, nice bathrooms. Would definitely go back there.

We just checked out of the Lodge at 30A after spending a week there with our family. Overall, we enjoyed our time in the area, but there were several issues with our stay that made the experience frustrating.

When we arrived around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, the older blonde woman at the front desk was kind, but we were not given important information that would have been helpful for our stay. For example, we were not told that there are laundry machines on site, that pool towels must be checked out at the front desk, that there is no Wi-Fi password needed, or where to find ice. These are simple details that would have made settling in much easier.

Our biggest concern was housekeeping. We were surprised to learn that rooms are only cleaned every other day. For families spending their days at the beach and pool, this creates challenges with sand, wet towels, and overflowing trash—especially since the rooms are small and include a kitchenette. Daily trash removal and fresh towels would make a big difference.

On the days housekeeping did come, we were only left with four large towels, which was not enough to last for two days for our family. This meant we had to repeatedly call the front desk for additional towels, toilet paper, and other basic items. Each time, we were reminded that there was only one person working the front desk and were often asked if someone from our room could come pick up the items. Unfortunately, that was not always possible, and as guests, we did not feel that should have been our responsibility.

At times, we found ourselves searching the hallway for housekeeping carts just to grab extra towels. That should not be necessary during a hotel stay.

While the location is great, the lack of communication and customer service made this stay disappointing. Unfortunately, because of this experience, we do not plan to return.
